He felt very amazed yet unfamiliar. The glittering view of the capital right now was drastically different from the landscape of the civilization he had seen thousands of years ago before he was ordered to guard that room.
However, amidst his awe scanning the entire city, Alvein's forehead suddenly wrinkled in confusion. He turned toward Arvin who was standing beside him.
"Honey... the Great Magic Tower is gone, huh?" Alvein asked with an innocent tone, feeling something was amiss with the city layout he saw.
"Great Magic Tower?" Arvin repeated, furrowing his brow in non-understanding. "I have truly never heard of the existence of that tower. Even the history in this academy has never written a single sentence about it. What is... exactly the matter with that magic tower?"
"In the past, there were a lot of secret magic books kept in that giant tower." Alvein answered according to what he knew from his old memory. "Perhaps, inside there is one of my creator's research notebooks that you were looking for earlier. Because in the past, he very often went to that tower after he finished visiting me."
Arvin nodded in understanding hearing that brief explanation. However, the story about the existence of the lost Great Magic Tower truly left him quite surprised. How could a magical structure that seemed very important disappear without a trace? But strangely, not a single history in this kingdom or in the academy library recorded the existence of that tower.
Arvin's curiosity as a former player peaked again.
I must find it! Arvin resolved in his heart, his eyes sparkling finding a new puzzle outside the original game storyline. If that note is there, it is a huge discovery! But... where should I find that place that has been lost from history, huh? Does Alvein know the position of that tower's location?
"Hey Alvein, do you happen to know the exact position of where that tower used to stand?" Arvin asked quickly, unable to hide his enthusiasm.
Alvein closed his eyes for a moment to recall his spatial memory from thousands of years ago. Then, he opened his eyes and raised his hand, pointing straight towards the dark southwest of the capital.
"Over there, Honey!" Alvein said with certainty. "That tower used to tower high right at the foot of the hill over there!"
Arvin followed the direction of Alvein's index finger, staring sharply at the silhouette of the dark hill in the distance shrouded by the night mist. The corners of his lips pulled upwards, forming a meaningful smile.
"Sometime, I will definitely investigate it there!" Arvin replied, his curiosity now peaking unbearably. He then turned and looked at Alvein. "Thank you very much for telling me, Alvein."
"You are welcome, Honey!" Alvein replied with a sincere smile on his face.
After being satisfied looking at the city view, Alvein walked behind Arvin. He agilely jumped back onto his prospective husband's broad back, then reactivated his 'invisible' magic until his figure blended with the night air.
"Honey, let's go home." Alvein whispered in Arvin's ear.
Arvin nodded firmly and immediately jumped from the 25-meter height.
Tap!
With the help of a wind magic cushion that held back his gravitational force, the blue-haired youth landed very smoothly and soundlessly on the grassy ground surface.
After stabilizing his position with Alvein sticking tightly invisibly on his back, Arvin continued to step through the darkness of the backyard towards the academy's main gate.
In the front area, at the guard post near the gate, a middle-aged man assigned to replace Morn's position on the night shift was sitting on guard at his post. The man jolted slightly from his sleepiness. He was extremely surprised to see the silhouette of an academy student suddenly walking casually alone from the direction of the pitch-black academy backyard.
"Where are you walking from alone in the middle of the night like this, Young Master?" asked the middle-aged man while hurriedly standing up and bowing politely. He recognized the handsome face of the academy's new owner.
"I just returned from inside the forest behind the academy's back gate." Arvin answered, telling the truth with a calm tone. "Did Morn not tell you anything during the shift change earlier?"
"He did tell me that before we exchanged duties, Young Master." the guard answered with a slightly nervous tone. "But, I never expected at all that you would only return in the middle of the night like this."
"I accidentally fell asleep there and didn't realize the day had gotten this late. Forgive me for troubling you this late at night." Arvin replied humbly, making a simple, reasonable excuse.
"I-It's nothing, Young Master! It's not a trouble at all! I will immediately open this gate for you." the guard responded quickly.
The middle-aged man immediately rushed to turn the iron lever and open the gate for him. Meanwhile, as Arvin waited for the gate to open, he secretly focused his mana and took out 20 Gold from his dimensional storage space, then grasped those precious gold coins in his right hand.
Once the gate gap was open wide enough, Arvin stepped up to the middle-aged man who was holding the lever.
"This is money for you, please accept it!" Arvin said casually while handing a stack of gold coins that sparkled under the street lamp to the guard.
The middle-aged man's eyes instantly widened seeing a nominal amount that was extremely fantastic for a gatekeeper.
"N-No, Young Master!" the guard answered in panic, his hands trembling to hold back an extraordinary sense of unease and reluctance. "I cannot accept this much money from you. This is too much just for opening the door!"
"Come on, just accept it!" Arvin asserted, forcing the coins into the guard's palm. "I don't want to hear any refusal from you! Is the welfare of your family at home not important to you that you dare to refuse my gift?"
Hearing the absolute and authoritative words from the academy owner, the guard was instantly silenced. He could only bow obediently, his eyes tearing up, and tightly grasped the money given to him.
"Thank you very much, Young Master... truly, thank you very much." the man said sincerely and respectfully, his voice slightly hoarse holding back his emotion. "I will make sure the needs of my wife and children will be very well fulfilled for the next few months with this money."
"That's better!" Arvin said, smiling in relief seeing the look of happiness from the middle-aged man. "In that case, I will go home first. Good luck continuing your night duty."
"Yes, Young Master! Be careful on your way home!" exclaimed the guard while bowing his body deeply again.
Arvin nodded slowly, then stepped out of the academy grounds, walking along the quiet and dimly lit streets of the capital to return to his mansion.
