Chapter 497 - Chapter 497 It's you?!

She and Black Dwarf had just been released by the Grandmaster and had not witnessed the scene where the two brothers had their falling out.

In their understanding, threatening someone with the lives of their loved ones was always the most effective method.

Thor's spirits lifted instantly upon hearing this.

"Really? I don't believe it..."

"He is the Prince of Asgard, after all. You wouldn't dare treat him like that."

Thor said with an arrogant look on his face.

"Wouldn't dare?" Proxima Midnight swung her spear down coldly.

The tip of the spear pierced fiercely into Loki's thigh.

"Mmphhh—!!!"

Loki convulsed violently on the ground in pain. The gag stifled his screams in his throat, making his face turn bright red with veins bulging.

"No—!!!"

Thor shouted, his tone as exaggerated as a stage actor. "You cannot do this!"

"Even if you torture my dear brother in the most painful way in the entire Universe, I will absolutely never reveal the location of the Space Stone!"

Proxima Midnight's gaze turned cold. "As you wish."

A searing energy beam shot from the tip of the spear, hitting Loki's other leg.

"Mmph—!!!"

Loki writhed on the ground in agony, his whole body convulsing.

"NO!" Thor covered his cheeks with his hands and shouted, appearing grief-stricken.

But his eyes, observing Loki through the gaps in his fingers, were bright and dry—not a single tear had fallen.

"Oh! My poor brother! I cannot bear to watch you suffer! But I have no choice!"

"Mmphhh! Mmphhh-mmphhh!"

Loki pointed at Thor in terror and shook his head frantically at Proxima Midnight.

"Speak! Where is the Tesseract!" Proxima Midnight demanded sternly of Thor.

"No! Don't stop! I mean, don't torture him anymore!"

Thor, who almost couldn't help laughing out loud, quickly buried his face in his knees, forcing the laughter back.

The Grandmaster approached slowly, surrounded by guards, watching with great interest as Loki was tortured to the point of near-death.

"Alright, my lady. Stop."

"That one isn't working..." The Grandmaster waved to stop Proxima Midnight. "Take a look at this."

He then turned to look at his personal guard beside him, who immediately handed him a staff respectfully.

This staff was not long, and a golden sphere was embedded at the top.

The Melting Staff!

Seeing this staff, Thor's previously relaxed, spectator-like mood vanished instantly; he knew the power of this thing.

When he had first been captured and brought to Sakaar, he had witnessed the Grandmaster use this gadget to melt a living person into a pool of foul-smelling liquid.

If Loki took a hit from it, it wouldn't just be superficial pain; it would be physical annihilation.

This old lunatic was going for the kill!

The joke had gone on long enough; Thor couldn't let Loki actually die in front of him.

He slowly moved closer, calm on the surface, preparing to launch a desperate surprise attack.

"Don't waste your energy, Lightning Boy."

The Grandmaster keenly sensed Thor's movements and slowly raised the remote control in his left hand.

"If you move even an inch more, I will let you experience the temperature of the floor again."

Thor stopped in his tracks and glared at the Grandmaster.

"Clatter—" Suddenly, a faint rolling sound rang out.

A small, black metal sphere rolled in along the edge of the steps, coming to a stop right between Thor and the Grandmaster.

"Beep... beep..." The Grandmaster lowered his head, looking at the black sphere by his feet, and frowned. "What is this?"

"Whirrr—Crackle!" A powerful electromagnetic pulse exploded.

"Thor, do it!" A rough voice came from behind.

Upon hearing the voice, Thor did not hesitate. The thunder god power suppressed within his body erupted instantly, and thick lightning chains surged from his hands, blasting straight toward the Grandmaster.

The Grandmaster's reaction was also extremely fast; he planted the Melting Staff in front of him heavily.

The lightning struck the golden metal sphere at the tip of the staff, and the powerful energy was completely drawn in and absorbed by the sphere, leaving only a scorched mark on the ground.

"Kill them all!" The Grandmaster roared.

The guards were startled into action, raising their weapons and charging forward.

In the sky, several figures descended beside Thor with the help of jetpacks and gravity boots.

The ones who had come to the rescue were none other than the Guardians of the Galaxy.

When Thor saw who it was, he shouted happily: "Rabbit! Is it you?!"

Rocket Raccoon, holding a heavy energy cannon taller than himself, fired wildly while cursing unhappily: "I'm not a rabbit! You ignorant oaf!"

Thor punched a nearby guard to the ground and shouted back: "Alright! Master Rocket!"

Rocket blew three guards away with a single shell and grinned: "That's more like it!"

Star-Lord, wearing his mask, activated the flight boots on his feet and hovered at a low altitude.

He drew his dual blasters, and energy bolts poured into the crowd of guards like raindrops.

"Guys, stick to the plan! Let's make this quick!" Star-Lord shouted.

Treant Groot, who had grown into a young lad, let out a roar: "I am Groot!"

His arms transformed into hard vine spikes, skewering four or five charging guards at once like a kebab.

Black Dwarf roared as he collided fiercely with Drax, the impact of their powerful bodies creating a dull, booming sound.

The Grandmaster retreated from the center of the arena under the protection of heavy guards, but he did not leave; instead, he mobilized more manpower.

"Bring all the guards here! I want to melt every single one of them!"

Following the Grandmaster's order, the left and right gates opened wide, and guards poured into the arena in an endless stream.

Although the Guardians of the Galaxy were extremely strong in individual combat, they gradually found themselves in a stalemate against such human-wave tactics.

Thor snatched a spear, sent a guard flying, and shouted to Rocket: "There are too many enemies! We need a spaceship!"

"Of course, the ship will be here in a second!" Rocket had just finished saying this.

"Vroom-vroom-vroom—" The sound of engines roared as a uniquely shaped spaceship dove down and hovered steadily at the edge of the battlefield.

The spaceship's hatch slowly lowered.

A woman wearing dark gray battle armor stood at the edge of the hatch.

She slammed her fists together.

"Zzzzt!" The control terminal on her arm activated.

She pushed both hands forward, making a firing gesture.

The high-energy cannons on both sides of the ship fired instantly, their barrels sweeping back and forth following her movements.

"Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat—!" The dense light bullets, like the scythe of the God of Death, carved out a death zone, instantly clearing out the dozens of guards who were charging at the front.

As the gun barrels cooled down, the woman stood at the hatch and shouted loudly to Thor and the others in front: "Get up here quickly!"

Thor looked up and recognized the woman at a glance.

"Is it you?!"

Thor gritted his teeth; this was the very woman who had captured him and sold him to the Grandmaster.

Although he didn't know why this woman had suddenly come to save him, the situation was critical, so he decided to retreat first.
