Chapter 408 - Chapter 408 I will never admit defeat

Carol looked at the beautiful Earth ahead, a hint of guilt welling up in her heart.

Since leaving Earth again twenty years ago, she had been drifting on the front lines of the Universe.

She had saved countless races and settled many interstellar wars, but she had never returned home.

Without much hesitation, Carol adjusted her flight posture and dove at high speed toward the location of the pager signal.

...

Meanwhile, Fury, following the Sentinel robots, found another hidden canyon where hundreds of Skrull refugees who had fled here were gathered.

The slaughter began once more.

Hellfire and pulse beams intertwined, turning this place into a Shura Field.

"Boom—!!!"

The clouds in the sky were suddenly torn apart by a terrifying surge of energy, and a colorful pillar of light descended from the heavens.

A powerful Impact sent several surrounding Sentinel robots flying.

The dust settled.

Carol Danvers stood up.

She was surrounded by dazzling Universe energy, and her eyes spat angry flames.

She had rushed here with sparks and lightning all the way based on the pager's positioning, but the scene before her made her blood boil with rage!

What did she see?

Several cold machines and a demonic skeleton burning with Hellfire.

They were unilaterally massacre a group of innocent Skrull refugees!

She had promised them they could live peacefully on Earth and that she would find a new home for them in the Universe!

Although a suitable one had not yet been found.

"Stop!!!"

Carol let out an angry shout.

Her gaze moved quickly, searching for Fury's figure on the battlefield.

Finally, less than ten meters behind that flaming skeleton, she saw an ostentatious heavy motorcycle.

And the pager signal she had left for Fury was coming from that very vehicle.

A terrifying hypothesis formed in Carol's mind.

Fury was dead.

He had sent out a distress signal, but she had arrived too late.

This demon and these cold machines had killed the Skrulls here, and might have even killed Nick Fury and taken his pager!

"Unforgivable..."

Carol erupted with intense photon energy.

Without the slightest hesitation, she pushed her arms forward.

"Boom! Boom!"

Two thick photon Impacts blasted toward the black skeleton that was currently massacre.

Fury reacted extremely quickly; the chain in his hand snapped back and spun rapidly in front of him, forming a Fire shield.

"Bang!!!"

photon energy and Hellfire collided violently.

The energy explosion whipped up a hurricane within the canyon.

Fury was pushed back over ten meters by the powerful force of the Impact.

He looked up at Carol in mid-air.

"What kind of monster are you? Where is Fury?!" Carol spoke in a cold voice.

At this moment, Fury's reason had been clouded by the darkness within him; he only knew that this woman was stopping him from harvesting sin.

"Guilty..." Fury let out a low growl, and the chain in his hand ignited with surging raging Fire again as he lashed it out.

The chain extended infinitely in the air, coiling toward Carol in mid-air like a venomous snake.

Carol dodged nimbly in the air, firing photon blasts continuously from her hands, but they hit the incoming chain one after another, unable to break through its defense.

"Since that's how it is..."

Carol's eyes sharpened as she turned into a streak of light, taking the initiative to meet the chain and grabbing a burning iron ring.

The high temperature of purgatory made her palms sizzle, but with her energy protection, she endured the burning of the Hellfire.

"Come here!"

Carol roared and exerted sudden force with her arms.

Fury on the ground was pulled directly into the air by this immense strength.

Carol met him head-on, a heavy punch wrapped in photon energy slamming hard into Fury's skeletal jaw.

"Bang!"

Fury fell like a meteorite, crashing into a huge deep pit.

Carol followed closely behind, descending from the sky, compressing all her photon energy into her palm and continuously blasting Fury.

The light almost illuminated the entire night sky.

But when the energy dissipated, Carol was shocked to find that the black skeleton below erupted into raging flames once more.

Those hollow eye sockets stared fixedly at her, filled with endless malice.

"I must find a way to extinguish the Fire on him!" Carol's brain worked rapidly.

She sprinted forward, grabbed Fury's neck bone, and soared into the sky, speeding toward the coast.

A few seconds later, the vast Pacific Ocean appeared below her.

"Cool down!"

Carol took Fury and plunged into the cold Water.

In the deep sea, Carol tried to pin Fury against the rocks on the seabed.

But she was wrong; the Water could not hinder the burning of the Hellfire.

Instead, it allowed Fury to launch a counterattack underwater.

The Hellfire chain, like a living thing, quickly coiled around Carol's waist and arms along the Water current!

Even hundreds of meters deep on the seabed, the Hellfire attached to the chain still emitted terrifyingly high temperatures, but the heat caused no damage to Carol at all; instead, it was converted into her own photon energy.

However, the restraint of the chain made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

photon energy flickered wildly on her body's surface, trying to break free from the chain's restraint, but the links only tightened further.

"Water is useless... but he doesn't seem to be able to fly."

Carol keenly noticed this weakness of the Ghost Rider.

"Since Earth can't deal with you, then be exiled to space."

Carol made up her mind, opened her engines fully, and charged straight toward the outside of the atmosphere with him.

On the way to space, Fury, who had been struggling frantically, suddenly stopped moving.

The pitch-black jawbone opened and closed, and a voice that seemed to come from hell sounded in Carol's ear.

"Look into my eyes!" The Penance Stare was activated.

Carol didn't understand what it meant and subconsciously looked over, their gazes meeting.

Time seemed to stop at this moment.

"Ah—!!!"

A moment later, Carol let out a heart-wrenching scream.

The things she was most unwilling to face in her memory kept surfacing in her mind.

After destroying the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree, Hala fell into endless civil war, the ecology collapsed, the oceans dried up, and the star went out.

Countless civilians died tragically as a result, and countless families were displaced.

Although she did it to end the tyranny of the Kree, the deaths of those innocents weighed on her heart like a mountain.

She was branded with the infamy of "Destroyer" by the Kree, but she was powerless to refute it.

This guilt, buried deep in her heart, became the perfect fuel for the Flames of Vengeance at this moment!

Carol curled her body in pain in mid-air, holding her head, almost losing the power to fly.

But she was Captain Marvel, after all.

"I... will never... give up!"

Carol seemed to grit her teeth until they broke, and a dazzling White light suddenly erupted from her eyes.

"Boom!"

Binary mode, fully activated!

Boundless Universe energy gushed from her body, her hair stood up like burning flames of light, and her eyes were filled with energy spots of White.
