"Unfortunately, your crazy plan piques the curiosity of the authorities."
Rea moves her head up to see the policewoman entering the small hospital room. It's been a week since she arrived here. Two days since their last talk about Rea's plan to gather every Legendary Pokémon from every five regions to unite them against Giovanni.
Of course, this plan she herself would accomplish solely by herself. In exchange for that, she asks only for one small thing. Amnesty. Not being asked about Team Rocket and all the things connected with them. Also no one would ask about Rea's crimes and try to judge her for those.
Good. The less questions the better. No one would ask about her identity. About all the lies she said, say and will say.
"So that's what you wrote on your phone…" Rea mutters, reminding herself what the policewoman did at their last meeting.
Officer Jenny doesn't seem to pay attention to the girl's words. She just sits on the chair, putting the mug of steaming drink on the bedside table. Rea's face crinkle as the smell reaches her nostrils. Coffee.
"In general they think it's stupid." The woman says. "Yet most importantly, they have nothing to lose."
And that's the main reason Rea wants to make this deal. Because thanks to that she can get a lot. On the other hand, there's nothing to lose for her too. She can die, incur wrath of a lot of powerful Pokémon, but considering the fact Giovanni is still around, it might be a way better option.
It's quite pitiful that she considers this one human as more powerful than Pokémon.
"Don't rush into conclusions." The policewoman snorts.
Right. Rea calms herself. Nothing is settled down. At least not yet.
"I guess there is some 'but'." Rea presumes.
"Quite a lot of 'buts'." Officer Jenny confirms putting her leg on the other one,
Rea sigh. She hopes that due to the strange circumstances (and also the fact that no one becomes a loser due to that agreement) she'll get complete freedom. But it seems that authorities were exactly the authorities Rea expected them to be.
"First of all, your mission stays a secret." The policewoman says.
Well, that's something Rea plans to do herself. Just telling anyone around she's on the quest for finding Legendaries may cause more unnecessary questions. And even more unnecessary and unwanted spectators. Like someone from Team Rocket.
Like Giovanni,
"Yeah, right." Rea shakes her head, trying to snap out of that sudden rush of thoughts. "That's a rather obvious one. But I bet there's more."
"Indeed." Officer Jenny confirms, taking a sip from her mug.
When she puts aside the mug at the small table, by the corner of her eye Rea notices the overprint on it. A little art of Growlithe. How adorable. And definitely not suitable for a woman like Officer Jenny. Or maybe the police officer just has a rough exterior.
"You'll keep updating authorities on every move you plan to do and already did." The policewoman states. "Every objective you'd like to focus on next."
Rea nod understanding the reasoning behind that request. Which could be considered a harsh one, but at the same time - valid. Indeed no one will lose when accepting that agreement. But on the other hand accepting this deal, and later knowledge that Rea fell may let some people lose hope.
Receiving constant updates would inform authorities which Legendaries Rea manages to convince (or rather force, but that's not something everybody should know), will let them know how to navigate the situation. And which Legendary Pokémon they can ask for help. If any.
"Yeah, right, surely." Rea weaves her hand as if trying to blow away the smell of coffee (and restrain from using her powers not to do so). "I accept everything. Can we move to the next part?"
Actually she doesn't have high expectations when it comes to agreement with humans. Those weak creatures are useless to her. But there's one fact even the strongest Pokémon can't deny.
It's human world.
Strength doesn't matter. Strong entities are voiceless if they're not humans. And despite the fact that Rea has four years to learn a thing or two about them, she still considers it's not enough.
Humans have those strange devices which work similar to telepathy. Things that work just like Fire-types, heating the food and anything needed. Strange vehicles that seem to levitate and move at extreme speed.
And without those in this world Rea is powerless.
Officer Jenny smiles softly. Surely the woman takes her time slowly drinking the coffee. Tasting it. Till the level Rea gets shivers of disgust. And then the police finally speaks:
"You'd have a supervisor." She finally says putting the mug aside.
"What!?"
Only a loud band makes Rea aware of the reality. She looks down only to realize that unknowingly for her she knocked over the mug. Right now only the shattered glass remains. Yet the piece with a small picture of Growlithe stays untouched. Wobble slightly due to the impact of the hit.
"...I'm sorry." Words slips Rea's mouth.
Officer Jenny sighs only and picks up the piece. Look at it for a while, before saying:
"Nothing happened."
And just like that the policewoman starts to pick up the remnants of the mug. Still dripping with the drink that it contains a moment ago.
Before Rea could even realize she actually says sorry to a human, she gets down from the hospital bed and picks up the pieces along with the policewoman. Not understanding why.
She's a creature driven by ambition. Goals. Not even use her powers to prevent the mug from falling down. Only to keep her identity hidden. So why did she suddenly help the policewoman? A person who should be her enemy. Or at least not-friend.
"Team Rocket's grunt or not… perhaps I'm still a little bit human-like." She finally says, then looks at Officer Jenny. "But no matter - grunt or not, no one likes supervisors."
The message is clear. She won't accept the last condition.
"Then I guess that your agreement won't go ahead." Officer Jenny takes from Rea the last pieces of glass and puts them into the trash bin.
