The Alibi Room.
Frank was hard to miss. Karen's gaze shifted, locked onto him immediately, and she walked over briskly, plopping herself down right in front of him.
Between the drugs and the booze, Frank was high as a kite tonight and in a fantastic mood. Seeing Karen, he greeted her with a grin.
Karen had zero interest in playing nice with a scumbag like Frank. She shot a cold glance at Monica—who was sitting next to him, equally high and looking like a total basket case—then addressed Frank directly. "Frank, my mom wants you back. You need to go back in a bit."
Frank had basically zero affection for Sheila; he was just using her. Hearing this, he waved his hand decisively. "I gotta stay with my wife. Not going back for now."
Karen anticipated this result. She gave a cold smirk, pulled a cigarette from her pocket, lit it, and took a drag. "Frank, you didn't hear me."
"I'm not negotiating with you. I'm demanding you go back tonight."
Frank wasn't having it. He glared. "Karen, who are you to demand anything of me? I said, I'm not going back for now. I'm staying with Monica!"
Karen was very calm and replied immediately, "Frank, listen to me clearly. If you don't go back tonight, you are never stepping foot in my house again. I won't allow it!"
"I will tell my mom exactly what kind of scumbag you are."
"After that, even if she's still willing to accept you, I have plenty of ways to stop you from entering my home!"
"I've tolerated you all this time for one reason only: you made my mom happy. Now, you've made her unhappy."
"In that case, as I see it, there is no need for me to continue tolerating you."
"Do you understand?"
The words sank in.
Although his brain was a mess from the cocktail of drugs and alcohol, Frank understood perfectly. He sobered up a lot instantly.
Being sober meant panic set in for Frank.
Sheila's house, in a way, was essentially a free hotel for him.
Was he really going to lose this hotel just like that?
If he lost it, and he couldn't stay at his own place later, where would he go?
Frank's thoughts raced, and he was about to open his mouth to compromise.
Unexpectedly, just then, Monica beat him to the punch. She waved her hand in annoyance, pointing at Karen and shouting, "Young lady, how dare you talk to Frank like that? Didn't your mother teach you..."
Monica wasn't normal to begin with. Tonight, having snorted drugs and drunk alcohol, she was even more unhinged, ranting non-stop in one breath.
Karen sneered, too lazy to waste words with Monica. She spoke to Frank again, "Monica is not allowed in my house. Think it through yourself."
Dropping these words, Karen stood up and walked away.
Frank changed his mind without hesitation. He shouted at Karen's retreating back, giving his answer, "Monica is the love of my life! Tell Sheila I'm not coming back!"
Hearing this, Karen paused slightly in her steps, but kept walking a second later without looking back.
Frank not coming back was actually better.
Sheila would be sad for a while, but in the long run, this was a good thing.
Soon, Karen left the Alibi and drove home.
Inside the Alibi Room, because of Frank's words just now, Monica was over the moon, and she started acting all lovey-dovey with Frank as if no one else was around.
The scene was truly disgusting.
---
Sheila's House.
Sheila, who had been waiting anxiously for Karen to bring Frank back, shot up like she'd been electrocuted the moment she heard footsteps outside. She ran toward the front door.
As she ran, Sheila shouted excitedly, "Frank, Frank..."
Sheila really liked Frank.
In the original series, even later when she discovered what a rotten person Frank was, Sheila was not only willing to fork out tens of thousands of dollars she had saved to treat Frank's illness, but was also willing to not sell the house and live a good life with Frank...
What a pity.
From beginning to end, in Frank's eyes, Sheila was just a tool.
Outside the door, Karen, just about to open it, heard Sheila's excited shouts from behind the door. She shook her head helplessly and sighed before continuing to open the door.
The door opened.
Sheila didn't see Frank. Instantly, the excitement and joy on her face faded rapidly. "Karen, you didn't find Frank?"
On the way back, Karen had already thought about what to say. She shook her head simply. "Mom, sit down first. We need to have a good talk about Frank."
Hearing this, Sheila immediately got nervous. "Talk about what? What's wrong? Did something happen to Frank?"
Karen smiled faintly. "It's not that. Don't worry. Sit on the sofa first, we'll talk slowly."
Sheila breathed a sigh of relief and moved obediently.
Before long.
Mother and daughter sat on the sofa.
Before Sheila could ask again, Karen took the initiative. "Mom, you need to know what kind of man Frank really is..."
Since she decided to tell her, Karen didn't hide anything. She recounted Frank's scumbag life in its entirety.
Listening, Sheila gradually became dumbfounded, her face full of shock, unable to believe it...
Karen didn't care. Adhering to the principle that short-term pain is better than long-term pain, she kept talking.
Frank's scumbag deeds... honestly, there were too many. Karen talked for over ten minutes until she was a bit tired, having covered just the general outline.
"Mom, you don't go out, so you don't understand what kind of scumbag Frank really is."
"Frank is famous for being a scumbag in the entire South Side. The reason he looked for you was just to have a free place to live and free meals to eat."
"Not long ago, I made things very clear to him."
"He stated that he won't come back and wants to be with Monica."
"Mom, just let it go. Don't care about him anymore. Without him, you will live better."
Sheila was completely stunned, her mind almost blank, unable to speak.
Seeing this.
Since she had nothing urgent to do anyway, Karen waited quietly.
A long time passed.
Sheila barely managed to snap back to reality a bit. Then, her eyes welled up with tears, and she looked at Karen with deep sadness. "Karen, is everything you said... true?"
I suppose poor people must have their hateful qualities.
Even now, Sheila still held onto a sliver of hope, unwilling to accept it.
"I swear, it's all true," Karen replied with certainty.
Hearing this, Sheila cried directly, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Oh~ Karen..."
Karen hesitated for a moment, moved, and hugged Sheila. "Mom, no need to be sad. Without him, you'll be better."
Sheila just cried.
The mother and daughter held each other like that...
From a certain perspective, this scene could be considered a highlight moment for this mother and daughter.
In the future, as various things happen, who can guarantee that such a scene will ever appear again?
