Chapter 34 - Chronicle 34

At team 7's training field a massive boulder stood. Many holes were riddled in the boulder, signs of jutsu use. The jutsu in question belonged to Kakashi Hatake and his protege.

Sasuke breathed heavily as Kakashi stood, reading and watching his student. Sasuke had only been training and going out on dates with Ino in the past month. His improvement was steady and he'd already gotten all three tomoe on his sharingan.

He'd just finished training. That was the fifth chidori he'd been able to accomplish that day and it hadn't hurt him. He would still need energy for the sparring session Kakashi was going to have with him. Turning, he saw the man in question, closing his 'Make-out Exotica' book.

Kakashi had not stagnated, as now that he had become Hokage, his face was being carved into the mountain. He'd decided to focus on growing his chakra reserves as much as possible, as well as returning his tactical mind to what it was before. Tactically, he'd failed to restrain Orochimaru, and only after seeing the First and Second Hokage die, did he realize what Hiruzen was up to.

Kakashi did a light stretch as Sasuke grabbed water and made sure he was not too sore for the upcoming bout. The Copy Ninja was beyond impressed by Sasuke's improvement. Since Sasuke had begun using shadow clones to supplement his ninjutsu training, he'd grown his chakra reserves and even learnt another lightning jutsu. However, for the sake of the boy, he'd restricted their sparring session to taijutsu and academy ninja arts.

Sasuke spoke, "I've gotten a new move, Kakashi-sensei. I'd be very scared if I were you."

Kakashi's eyes smiled before he got into a basic stance. The two shinobi blurred toward one another.

Sasuke dodged a right-handed punch and ducked. He aimed for an uppercut, but Kakashi smoothly danced around it. Sasuke put distance between him and his sensei. At the same time, the two ninja reached into their pouches for shuriken. Kakashi's throw was much more powerful than Sasuke's, but Sasuke waited until the last second to release them. It delayed the throw, meaning Sasuke's shuriken would hit Kakashi's at the perfect time.

That's exactly what happened, and Kakashi internally commended the boy for his smart use of natural laws. Kakashi once again closed the distance between them. Sasuke disappeared and reappeared behind him. Kakashi turned, aiming an elbow at Sasuke's head. The Uchiha dodged it by reappearing and kicking Kakashi into the air.

Sasuke recalled watching Raito use this technique on Lee. His was nowhere near as devastating but it could still bury a man. Kakashi realized what Sasuke was doing and decided he didn't like that.

The Copy Ninja righted himself with practiced ease, allowing Sasuke to hit the ground, releasing all the power into it. A crater opened and Sasuke was gone in the next second. Rushing towards Kakashi, Sasuke prepared another kunai.

Kakashi did the same and moved a slight bit back. The movement was not calculated in Sasuke's swipe at his head, causing the boy to miss. Then Kakashi returned, aiming his own slice at Sasuke's throat. Sasuke dropped to the ground on his back and grinned, Kakashi was about to be finished without ever knowing it.
