Chapter 379 - Chapter 379: Investigation & Timing

Over the next few days, Yuu Hoshimiya balanced his duties as a consultant, helping the incompetent Tokyo police solve cases, while secretly mobilizing his own people to investigate Reiko Kujo's request.

The bribery case involving the Takeuchi Group from five years ago wasn't exactly ancient history, and the moment Yuu began his investigation, the opposition started making moves.

In less than three days, the only person with inside knowledge, Hiroaki Takeuchi, was found dead in a staged suicide.

The mastermind behind the scenes was decisive, knowing full well that Yuu Hoshimiya was the one digging.

This time, the mastermind didn't dare attempt to "eliminate" the investigator as they had before, lacking the courage and strength to face Yuu directly.

Instead, they chose to silence the only witness, their former accomplice Hiroaki Takeuchi.

While such a move might destroy their credibility and ensure no one would ever cooperate with them again, it was the only option left to protect themselves.

However, the mastermind was unaware of Noah's existence; had they stayed still, Yuu might have taken longer to investigate, but this action exposed them immediately.

Simultaneously, their plan to move against Reiko Kujo was also laid bare.

Yuu wouldn't investigate a five-year-old case for no reason, and the mastermind had already discovered that the client was Prosecutor Reiko Kujo.

They couldn't kill Yuu, but the mastermind certainly felt bold enough to kill a prosecutor.

Just as they had killed Inspector Yuta Kitagawa, who had led Reiko Kujo and Ikumi Koshida in the investigation five years ago.

At eight in the evening, Yuu drove to the street below Reiko Kujo's apartment.

He didn't call ahead, nor did he use the front door; instead, he planned to hop over the balcony to give Reiko a surprise.

Well... or perhaps a fright.

As it turned out, Reiko wasn't the one he scared, but another great beauty.

Just as Yuu used magic to silently reach the balcony outside the apartment, the balcony door happened to slide open.

Seeing the dark shadow in front of her, Ikumi Koshida's entire body shuddered in terror.

She instinctively screamed, "Reiko, there's a pervert out here!"

As she shouted, Ikumi—dressed in her qipao and high heels—launched an attack with her clumsy Karate.

A side kick was thrown, but before it could land, her ankle was instantly caught by Yuu.

Reiko Kujo immediately rushed out from the living room, phone in hand, and shouted a threat: "Let her go this instant! I've already called the police. Do you have any idea what crime this is?"

"Trespassing on the private residence of a public official carries a prison sentence of six months to a year. If you don't want to go to jail, leave now and we might let you off, otherwise, you're dead!"

Watching the beautiful prosecutor ramble on, Yuu was somewhat speechless.

He quickly spoke up, "Don't call the police, it's me!"

Yuu released Ikumi and stepped forward.

The living room light spilled over him, finally revealing the handsome face that haunted both women's dreams.

Seeing it was Yuu, both women breathed a sigh of relief, and Ikumi patted her chest. "Consultant Hoshimiya, what are you doing playing ghost in the middle of the night? You scared me to death!"

Reiko Kujo looked even more confused. "Yuu-kun, what are you doing here?"

Yuu explained, "I was worried you might be in danger tonight, so I wanted to stay hidden and protect you in the shadows, but I didn't expect to be discovered."

Hearing this, Reiko looked puzzled. "What danger could I be in?"

She hadn't even considered the possibility, genuinely believing that Hiroaki Takeuchi had committed suicide.

She had no idea that Takeuchi had been silenced to keep him quiet.

This bribery case involved many people, and even after five years, she still wanted to pursue it, making her a thorn in the side of the mastermind.

If they could silence Reiko Kujo and use the testimony recorded at the MPD, the case could be considered officially closed.

Thus, the mastermind had used considerable influence to create a public narrative suggesting the prosecutor had driven a man to suicide.

They wanted to kill Reiko and stage it as a suicide as well, making the whole narrative flow logically.

After all, in this world, many people are driven to death by the weight of public opinion.

However, Yuu didn't tell the two women too much about this; telling them would only cause unnecessary distress.

Ushing the two women back inside, Yuu pulled the balcony door shut.

"It's nothing. Let's talk in the living room! By the way, Ikumi, why are you at Reiko's house..."

In Reiko Kujo's apartment, the three sat around the coffee table.

Ikumi Koshida rested her face in her hands and teased, "Yuu-kun, sneaking in through the balcony... you weren't trying to steal something, were you?"

Yuu replied with a straight face, "Yes, I was indeed planning to steal. I came by the moonlight because I heard there were two beauties here, specifically to steal some jade and fragrance!"

At these words, the best friends—Reiko and Ikumi—felt their faces flush. They glanced at each other before immediately looking away.

Ikumi couldn't help but say, "Then you're quite greedy, wanting both of us. I'm afraid you couldn't handle even one!"

Yuu was momentarily stunned and then burst into laughter.

"How do you know I can't handle it if you don't try? Maybe you two are the ones who won't be able to handle me."

Seeing the conversation slide further toward R18 territory, the upright Reiko Kujo gave a couple of dry coughs.

"Ahem. Yuu-kun, you can stop the investigation into the Takeuchi Group bribery case I commissioned earlier. There's no need to continue!"

"Why?"

The beautiful prosecutor's eyes flickered with a trace of melancholy. "The man who knew the truth was driven to death by me. I don't want to see another suicide."

"Maybe my decision was wrong from the start!"

Yuu's left hand reached out and took Reiko's small hand, speaking warmly, "Reiko, you weren't wrong. Wanting to find the truth and seek justice for your superior is the right thing to do. You shouldn't blame yourself for this."

Ikumi Koshida narrowed her eyes slightly at the sight of this.

Reiko immediately withdrew her hand, her earlobes turning a faint red.

She steadied her emotions and let out another sigh.

"Actually, I've seen the news online. They say the judicial system doesn't need prosecutors who drive people to suicide."

"I'm considering whether I should just resign. Maybe I shouldn't be a prosecutor; I should just be a detective like Ikumi."

Reiko lowered her head, a look of loneliness in her expression.

Ikumi immediately spoke up, "Pull yourself together, Reiko! You're the unbeatable prosecutor. How can you resign over something like this?"

"Besides, it wasn't your fault. That man was a coward. He killed himself; what does that have to do with you?"

"Reiko, this is just a minor setback. And there are plenty of people speaking up for you online too."

Hearing this, Reiko didn't react much, simply shaking her head gently.

Just as a celebrity only notices the comments of haters, people only fixate on words that hurt them, ignoring those that support them.

Yuu's expression turned stern as he spoke, "Ikumi, stop trying to persuade her. Reiko, if you want to resign, go ahead. You don't need to tell us."

"I'm just disappointed. The majestic, heroic Madonna of the Prosecution I first met is dead. All that's left is a hollow shell that looks the part but lacks the spirit."

Ikumi's mouth opened slightly, feeling a bit lost: Isn't that a bit harsh? How could Yuu say that?

Hearing those words, Reiko's body froze, and her breathing quickened significantly.

Yuu continued, "What I valued was the prosecutor who could debate me back and forth in court, the one who, even when at a disadvantage, was always thinking of how to find evidence and turn the tide. Not this self-pitying woman!"

"Heh, Reiko. I recall that as the most outstanding prosecutor in the field, you've never once defeated the Queen of the Legal World, Eri Kisaki. Are you really willing to be Aunt Eri's loser for the rest of your life, leaving with the title of a failure?"

The sneering Yuu looked incredibly punchable, but his handsome face was very effective at drawing agro.

At the mention of Eri Kisaki's name, Reiko Kujo's head snapped up, her eyes burning with a fierce flame of competitive spirit.

She glared at Yuu. "Fine! You can stop now. What a pathetic attempt at reverse psychology. I'll do as you wish—I'm not resigning!"

"You're right. I have to defeat Eri Kisaki to wash away the humiliation I've endured!"

"However, Yuu-kun, next time you're mocking and criticizing me, could you stop your large hand from roaming all over my thigh?"

As she finished speaking, Reiko pulled the wooden table aside, revealing the scene beneath.

Yuu's right hand was currently kneading Reiko's beautiful leg, which was clad in black silk stockings.

Looking at the way the stockings were stretched and distorted, it was clear they had been ravaged for quite a while.

Seeing this, Ikumi's eyes flared with a cold light.

In truth, from the moment the three of them sat down, Yuu had begun his secret invasion.

And Reiko Kujo, aside from an initial glare, had been quite cooperative the rest of the time.

Furthermore, her acting was superb; Ikumi hadn't noticed a thing.

It was only after Yuu's comments irritated her that she chose to expose it.

Yuu immediately withdrew his hand, slapped his right hand with his left, and played dumb. "Eh? How did this hand of mine stop listening to me? It's completely out of control. Could it be some kind of disease?"

At this, the two women rolled their eyes so hard they almost hit the ceiling. There was no way they believed a word this big wolf said.

Reiko Kujo, feeling a bit embarrassed, stood up and spoke, "I'm done with you two. I'm going to take a shower!"

With that, she hurried toward the bathroom, leaving only Yuu and Ikumi Koshida in the living room.

Yuu smiled at Ikumi. "See that? Someone with Reiko's personality needs a firm hand, not a soft one. Gentle persuasion is useless; you have to go against her and provoke her."

"So that's why you were secretly stroking someone else's thigh under the table!"

Ikumi Koshida crossed her arms, making her proud chest stand out even more.

Detestable guy. Secretly feeling up Reiko's leg but not mine. Are my legs somehow worse than Reiko's?

Ikumi looked down at her own legs—white, tender, long, smooth, and incredibly elastic. They were in no way inferior to her best friend's.

At most, she was just missing a pair of black silk stockings, but how could she wear stockings with a qipao?

Hateful man. Men really are all the same.

Yuu immediately began to argue.

"How is that possible? It was a strategy! I wanted to distract her so she wouldn't fall into sorrow and self-blame. Everything was part of my calculation."

Ikumi rolled her eyes again. As if I'd believe your bullshit! You're a bad, bad man!

He just said his hand was out of control, and now he's changed his story.

An irritated Ikumi reached out her small hand and directly pinched Yuu's ear, intending to use the exclusive skill of a girlfriend.

Yuu pointed at Ikumi and quickly warned her.

"I'm warning you. A man's ear shouldn't be twisted like that. It's a switch! If you keep twisting, I won't be able to control myself!"

"Hmph!" Ikumi didn't believe a word of this lying man's nonsense and twisted even harder.

This was the final straw!

Yuu counterattacked immediately.

Twin Dragon Water Grab: True Secret Art - Breast-Clutching Dragon Claw!

Ikumi let out a gasp and hurriedly covered her chest while retreating, a blush instantly staining her face.

That move had a massive effect on this single-since-birth female detective.

"Lecher!"

Ikumi immediately rose to flee, but she was nowhere near as fast as Yuu.

The moment she turned, the lightning-fast Yuu appeared right in front of her, leaning his head in so the turning Ikumi kissed his cheek.

Ikumi immediately backed up a few steps in her high heels, and Yuu followed her with a wicked grin.

Soon, the qipao-clad detective with the explosive figure had nowhere left to go, pinned against the wall.

Her face was flushed red, her body trembling occasionally. Her mouth, coated in red lipstick, opened slightly, her voice barely a whisper and trembling with a hint of fear.

"W-what... what do you want to do?"

Yuu's right hand performed a "kabedon" against the wall as he chuckled. "That's a very good question. What do I want to do?"

As he spoke, his left hand tilted Ikumi's chin up, bringing her exquisite face right before his eyes.

There was a hint of panic in her emerald eyes, but deeper down, there was a hidden trace of expectation.

"How about I fuck you, then?"

Yuu directly captured Ikumi's red lips in a kiss, his large hand following suit onto her body.

Ikumi's eyes went wide instantly, unable to believe such crude words had come from the man before her.

How could he say that!

So vulgar, so blunt!

Should I say yes? Or should I say yes?

This isn't right... we're in Reiko's house! It's inappropriate!

I heard the first time is very painful!

And what if Reiko comes out and sees us? Whatever, otherwise what if Reiko gets to him first?

But I'm so nervous! What am I supposed to do?

Ikumi couldn't help but tense up, her small hands balled into fists, her eyes full of uncertainty.

Looking at the inexperienced, glamorous mature woman, a smirk played on Yuu's lips.

We kissed for so long last time; does she still not know how to do it? Has she not learned to breathe through her nose yet?

She's so clumsy, and she calls herself a detective!

Yuu's large hand followed the curves of the water-blue qipao, taking in all her voluptuousness.

Finally, his left hand moved down along the hem of the qipao, covering the fair and smooth area—Yuu scooped up Ikumi's right knee.

By now, Ikumi's face was beet-red—not from shyness, but from holding her breath.

She was nearly out of oxygen, yet she was foolishly trying to endure.

The two kissed intensely for four or five minutes. Seeing how much she was struggling, Yuu finally released her mouth.

Ikumi gasped for air.

Her emerald eyes were misted over as she stared at Yuu.

The very definition of "looking with affection"!

Yuu chuckled, "Am I really that handsome?"

Ikumi nodded, about to say something, but a glazed look suddenly appeared in those emerald eyes.

Her body went soft, and her upper half slumped directly into Yuu's embrace, her bulging breasts pressing against his chest!

Yuu: ???

He was just about to mount the horse; how did she suddenly pass out?

Yuu held Ikumi's body and began to sense his surroundings.

He quickly discovered the reason.

The assassins had arrived, and they moved quite fast.

Faint, invisible white smoke was seeping in from beneath the apartment door—knockout gas.

However, with Yuu's superhuman constitution, the gas had absolutely no effect on him.

Ikumi, on the other hand, had just taken a deep breath of it and lost consciousness instantly.

He had been careless. Yuu had been so focused that he hadn't noticed the attackers.

The timing was just too perfect, dammit!

Filled with frustration, Yuu looked down at the unconscious Ikumi and let out a sigh.

Truly cursed. Is it really this hard to be with Ikumi?

Last time the timing was like this and Midori Megure had intercepted, and now the attackers had ruined it.

He carried Ikumi back to the sofa and laid her down properly, then cracked his knuckles and walked toward the entryway with an intimidating aura.

Yuu opened the door directly and stepped out of Reiko's home.

Standing outside were three burly men in black trench coats, all looking fierce and wearing masks.

On the left was a man with a scar running across his face, looking exceptionally menacing.

The one crouching and releasing the gas was a bald, muscular man with bulging muscles, looking like trouble.

Keeping watch at the staircase on the next level was a tattooed man with ink covering his neck.

Seeing Yuu unaffected by the gas, the three were momentarily stunned.

Yuu, in an extremely foul mood, didn't humor them and held nothing back.

Of course, he didn't kill them either.

He launched an uppercut straight into the scarred man's chest; a crisp sound of bone breaking echoed instantly.

The scarred man flew into the air and slammed heavily against the staircase wall, the tiles spiderwebbing with cracks.

The bald man swallowed hard and tried to draw a gun.

But before he could fire, his body also took flight.

Yuu kicked him into the ceiling, leaving a dent before he slammed heavily back to the floor.

His eyes bulged out, his tailbone clearly shattered.

The tattooed man keeping watch below saw things going south and immediately tried to flee.

But he was no match for Yuu's speed.

Yuu leapt down, using the wall as a springboard, caught the man by the back of his collar, and executed a perfect shoulder throw.

The tattooed man flew through the air and was slammed onto the steps, his teeth shattered and his face a bloody mess.

In less than three seconds, these fierce-looking guys were all down and unable to get up.

Yuu dragged the tattooed man back up and used mental magic.

Mental magic was far more effective than any truth serum; the three quickly confessed everything.

After listening to their account, Yuu finally understood the full picture.

These three were all gang members who had committed murder—two from the Triads and one from the Sumiyoshi-kai—and had previously been held in the Haido Police Station detention center.

However, a square-faced Inspector Kengo Tokiwa from the Haido station had commissioned them. If they could infiltrate and assassinate Reiko Kujo tonight, and stage it as a suicide...

Inspector Tokiwa would help them escape their charges or find new scapegoats, granting them their freedom.

Hearing this, the three gangsters had agreed to take the risk and commit the murder.

Only to run into Yuu Hoshimiya, who had been waiting for them.

Having learned that the mastermind was Kengo Tokiwa—which matched the intelligence Noah had gathered—Yuu cancelled the mental magic.

With a thought, he notified Noah to send people to take these three away.

Evidence from five years ago was hard to find, but these three were perfect living witnesses.

This was one of the primary reasons Yuu hadn't killed them.

Then Yuu made a call, having Ayako Suzuki send people to secure Kengo Tokiwa first.

Since this guy chose to play dirty, Yuu wasn't going to be polite.

But there was no need for him to go personally; with so many subordinates, there were plenty of people to handle it for him.

Yuu returned to Reiko's home and closed the door.

The apartment was still filled with the strange scent of the knockout gas. Yuu pushed open the balcony door, magic surging as he unleashed a formless wind spell.

A violent gust of wind swept the gas out through the balcony, dispersing it into the night sky.
