He pulled her down.
She landed against him and they found each other immediately, the way they always did now....no fumbling, no uncertainty, just two people who knew exactly where everything was and what everything meant.
He kissed her until she made the sound he was looking for.
"There," she said against his mouth.
"I know," he said.
His hands moved under the shirt....his shirt, which he was going to start leaving more of because the sight of her in it was something he was unwilling to live without. He found the hem and pulled it over her head and she let him and then she stood in front of him in the Maldives dark with the stars through the open panels and the ocean below and he stopped for a moment just to look at her.
"Stop looking," she said.
"No," he said. "You're my wife. I'll look as long as I want."
Something moved across her face at that. The word landing the way it still landed....new enough to catch her every time.
