Chapter 323 - Chapter 323: Faun’s Escape

Chapter 323: Faun's Escape

Bullets crackled and whistled toward Deadpool, but his sharp eyes tracked their trajectory without a hint of fear. His twin blades became a blur of steel, weaving through the hail of gunfire with a series of crisp metallic clangs.

Countless bullets fell spent at Deadpool's feet; some were even sliced clean in half by his blades.

"Freak..." Faun's subordinates looked at each other in terror. What kind of monster was this?

Behind Deadpool, Mindy and the others were equally stunned. This man was completely different from the rambling lunatic they had seen moments ago. Mindy's eyes sparkled with excitement. So cool! She desperately wanted to learn how to do that.

Deadpool calmly sheathed his katanas and asked, "Performance over. Now, where's the Pink Lion?"

The gang members on both sides immediately understood—Deadpool's target was the diamond as well!

Bang!

Suddenly, one of the thugs pulled his trigger, firing a shot directly into Deadpool's chest. The bullet buried itself in his flesh. Deadpool looked down at the small hole in his chest, then back up at the shooter. "That wasn't very sportsmanlike of you."

Thud—

Deadpool twitched and collapsed to the floor.

"Hey! Are you okay?!" Mindy knelt beside him, trying to pull him up.

Deadpool waved her off, his eyes fixed on her as he spoke in a weak, fading voice: "Rainbow Girl... I think we have to say goodbye forever."

"No, you can't die yet! You still have to teach me how to block bullets with a sword!" Mindy's gaze was glued to the twin katanas on his back.

"Oh, okay. Why didn't you say so earlier?" Deadpool suddenly acted as if nothing had happened. He pulled out his blades and swung them lightly in front of Mindy. "Like this, then like that, and you're good."

"..." Mindy stared up at him in shock. Wasn't he just shot and acting like he was at death's door? How was he suddenly standing there full of life?

Damon and Rei exchanged a glance. It made sense now why this madman was so confident—he was a superhuman.

"What do we do now, Boss?" Selt's subordinate asked.

Selt was at a loss. That old fox Faun had locked all the doors, leaving them with no way to slip away. And this red freak, who was also after the Pink Lion, was even more terrifying. He could block bullets with blades, and the shots that did hit him seemed to have no effect.

"How do you do that?" Mindy asked in amazement, jumping up to touch Deadpool's chest. Her fingers first met the blood seeping from the wound.

"It's nothing, really. It's quite simple—you just have to pretend you won't die," Deadpool said. He then turned to look down at Faun, who was still pinned to the floor. "Where is the Pink Lion?"

"Who told you I have it?" Faun gritted his teeth, his face flushed red as he looked up at Deadpool, nursing the agonizing pain in his backside.

"I'm a mercenary. I'm just doing a job," Deadpool smiled, spinning his katana. "Talk, or I'm sticking this blade right back into your 'lion's den'."

"..." Faun fell silent. Selt was still here, and while they were "old friends," they were actually bitter rivals. Selt would surely take advantage of the situation if he could.

"Big Daddy, what is the Pink Lion?" Mindy looked up at Damon, confused.

"I have no idea," Damon replied, his mind filled with questions. How was he supposed to know what this "Pink Lion" was?

Rei's heart skipped a beat when she heard the name. She thought back to the Maggia members from earlier that morning. After hearing about the Pink Lion then, she had looked it up—it was a diamond worth eighty million dollars.

Rei realized the danger of their current predicament. Whether it was Deadpool or these gangs, everyone was here for the diamond. They had simply stumbled into the middle of a war.

"The Lion is in the back," Faun conceded. He knew Deadpool was too powerful to resist, he didn't want to die, and his subordinates were clearly useless.

"Good. Bring it to me." Deadpool's blade was aimed squarely at Faun's rear. If Faun didn't cooperate, Deadpool was ready to deliver another "thrust."

Faun gave his subordinate a meaningful look. "Go get the Lion."

The subordinate nodded understandingly, turned into the back room, and emerged a moment later carrying a briefcase.

"Give it to him..." Faun said weakly.

The subordinate hesitated for a moment before tossing the briefcase to Deadpool. Deadpool sheathed his blades and caught it. He hadn't expected the mission to be this easy. However, to be safe, he placed the briefcase on a table to verify the contents.

Selt and his men craned their necks, eager to see how beautiful the legendary Pink Lion truly was. Mindy and the others were also curious to see what it looked like.

"The code?" Deadpool asked, fiddling with the dial.

"6547," Faun said quickly.

At that moment, while everyone's attention was locked on the briefcase, Faun was quietly lifted by his men. Deadpool quickly input the code.

Click! The briefcase popped open.

BOOM!

The briefcase suddenly exploded, and a thick cloud of yellow gas erupted.

"Agh!" Everyone's throat and eyes were hit with an intense, burning irritation. They couldn't open their eyes, and tears began to stream uncontrollably.

"Cough! Cough! Cough!" Deadpool choked out in a rage. "F*ck! Tear gas!"

No one had expected the briefcase to be a trap. Damon and Mindy were hit hard, falling to the floor coughing violently as tears blurred their vision.

Rei was the only one who remained calm. She discovered that the gas had no effect on her. Moreover, through the thick smoke, the eyes of her mask glowed red, allowing her to see Faun and his men clearly as they made their escape.

Rei did a quick scan of her surroundings, then pulled one of the katanas from Deadpool's back and headed toward where Faun had fled.

"Sh*t!" Deadpool might not fear death, but tear gas still worked on his senses; he was only slightly better off than a normal human. What hurt more was his missing blade—those were custom-made!

The Escape

"Hurry! Ah! Gentler!" Faun was being carried by his men, a blade still protruding from his backside.

They didn't dare pull the blade out. Without medical equipment to stop the bleeding, pulling it out would likely cause Faun to bleed to death.

"What do we do now?" a subordinate whispered.

Faun panted heavily, his eyes full of malice. "They dared to mess with me, so we're going to kill them! Call the others and tell them to bring the heavy weapons!"

"Understood!" The subordinate immediately turned to contact their associates.

They hadn't fled far from the convenience store; they had a hideout nearby. Faun was quickly rushed into a room where the others began to treat his "unique" injury.
