Those two fists scraped through the air with a piercing high-frequency screech,
trailing brilliant sparks,
as they smashed down from the left and right.

Shiko's expression turned grave.
He had not expected these two third-tier Legendaries, who already looked to be at the end of their rope, to still be able to charge up and unleash such powerful attacks.
Legendary Pokémon really were Legendary Pokémon.
Even when exhausted to the point of having only a sliver of stamina left, they still could not be underestimated.
The dense Fire-type energy in his mouth had only gathered halfway.
If he moved now to avoid the attack,
then the charging process would definitely be interrupted.

he raised that thick, long tail behind him and planted it before himself.
