Aurelian;
The meeting took longer than expected. The darn thing should have ended forty-three minutes ago. Yet, it dragged on for another hour and twenty minutes.
Three executives couldn't agree on a merger proposal; two board members wanted amendments to a contract that had already been revised four fucking times!
The legal department had concerns; finance had different concerns. Everyone had concerns, and somehow all of them believed those concerns were urgent enough to warrant my immediate attention.
Normally, I would have shut them down for dragging me into messes they could well handle on their own, but I've been away from work for so long that I know if I keep risking my absence,m something would go wrong soon enough.
I had to stay through the whole thing and iron things out as best as I could! Even while worry kept chewing at my every nerve.
I kept checking the time far more than I should have, and I could hardly hide my impatience.
