Using blood to blind someone was a cliché move.
But clichés exist because they work.
It's just a shame Shuten-douji used it on the wrong person.
Facing the sudden deprivation of sight, Max's fist showed zero hesitation.
This was a test of courage. A speed race to see whose blow would land first.
His decisiveness caught Shuten-douji completely off guard.
And that moment of surprise cost her the only chance at victory she had left.
Max's fist connected with Shuten-douji's cheek first.
The impact was devastating. Under the immense transfer of kinetic energy, her body became a spinning top—violently sent flying backward through the air.
The sound of the hit echoed across the ruined battlefield like a thunderclap.
But Max had no intention of stopping.
Black flames burned across his face, incinerating the blood completely and restoring his vision in an instant. His eyes—blazing with the fire of vengeance—locked onto his target.
And then he was upon her again.
Consecutive punches!
Consecutive punches!
Consecutive punches!
CONSECUTIVE PUNCHES!
Punches like raindrops fell upon Shuten-douji's body. Each impact drove her further into the ground, each blow burned deeper into her flesh.
And accompanying these punches, Max let out an inhuman sound from his throat:
"MUDA! MUDA! MUDA! MUDA! MUDA!"
"Puh-ha—!"
Shuten-douji's entire body was consumed by flames. Her beautiful skin—that porcelain complexion that had launched a thousand simps—had transformed into something hideous under the flames of revenge.
With Max's final punch, her body became a meteor, carving a trench through what remained of Fuyuki City's ground.
The impact crater stretched for dozens of meters. Dust and debris exploded outward in a shockwave that rattled the distant observers.
Maverick actually had to shield his eyes from the blast.
After spitting out a mouthful of blood, Shuten-douji's crimson demonic horn began to glow with captivating light.
Her fist raised, her voice sharp with defiance:
"It's not over yet!"
"NO! IT'S OVER!"
Max's response was absolute.
"150,000 HORSEPOWER BLACK FLAME BLAST PUNCH!"
In the final exchange of blows, Shuten-douji still couldn't beat him.
Her already scorched and withered arm—the one she'd sacrificed to blind him with blood—collided with Max's flaming fist.
It instantly turned to dust.
However, there was no hint of disappointment on Shuten-douji's face.
Joy replaced all other emotions.
Her raised, smiling face—burned beyond recognition—made everyone in Max's stream unable to help but shout in shock.
[Horrified_Henry]: WHERE IS THE PLASTIC SURGEON?! Quick, give my wife Shuten some reconstructive surgery!
[Realistic_Rachel]: It's hopeless. Burns this bad can't be fixed. Just re-skin her entirely.
[Crying_Carl]: Max, you FOX! I swear we're irreconcilable! You can fight, but why did you have to burn my WIFE like this?!
[Hyped_Harry]: But seriously, that fight was SO COOL! Made my blood boil! As expected, only a satisfying battle is a man's destiny!
[Delusional_Dan]: Do you think there's any chance I can convince Beowulf to give ME his heart with my charisma?
[Reality_Check]: It's late. Time to wake up from that dream.
It could only be said that Max had been a bit too heavy-handed.
He had literally beaten Shuten-douji from a peerless beauty into a charred corpse. The transformation was so complete that if someone had shown before-and-after pictures, no one would have believed it was the same person.
The chat was in absolute shambles over it. Half the viewers were crying, half were cheering, and a disturbing percentage were... something else entirely.
Yet even so, under the powerful vitality of the Oni race, she still hadn't perished.
Looking at Max—who stood beside her, waiting for her to disappear—Shuten-douji let out a hearty laugh.
"Ah~ It's been so long since I've had such a satisfying fight."
Her voice was weak but content. Peaceful, even. The voice of someone who had found exactly what they were looking for.
"But Master, couldn't you pity this one and go a little easier? Look at what you've done to me~"
She gestured vaguely at her ruined form, and somehow managed to make even that motion seem elegant.
"Giving it your all is the greatest respect." Max's voice was quiet. Sincere. "I wonder... did you have fun in this Holy Grail War?"
"Barely." A smile crossed what remained of her lips. "At least I met a good man in the end."
Her single remaining eye found his.
"You're a match for that boy Kintoki. But compared to him, you're a bit too... proactive. I'm really not good at dealing with proactive men."
She laughed weakly.
"If I had known, I would have dug out my heart and given it to you first. Then I could have watched the intense battle between you two men~"
"Spare me, please." Max's response was dry. "If I had to punch Beowulf seriously, I might actually get beaten to death."
"HAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Shuten-douji's laughter echoed across the ruined battlefield. It was genuine. Joyful. The laugh of someone who had lived exactly as they wanted, right up until the very end.
Golden particles began to envelop her entire body. The same golden light that had claimed so many Servants before her.
"It's time for farewell~"
"Yeah." Max nodded slowly. "Farewell... beautiful and dream-like Oni."
Beautiful, he'd called her. Even now. Even after he'd burned her beyond recognition.
Because he understood. The beauty wasn't in the skin. It was in the spirit.
No more words were needed.
Just observation.
Watching Shuten-douji completely dissipate into golden particles, Max said nothing. He simply turned and began walking back toward Medea and the others.
But he hadn't taken two steps—
RUMBLE.
The ground trembled violently.
The already chaotic chat exploded with new comments.
[Panicking_Pete]: Max, don't tell me that thing up ahead is the Holy Grail's main body!
[Terrified_Tina]: OH MY GOD what kind of Cthulhu Cup is THAT?! Why are there so many EYEBALLS on it?!
[Unhinged_Uma]: Honestly, I kind of want to try touching it
[Confused_Carl]: WHAT?!
[Horror_Fan_Frank]: Oh god, I feel like my sanity is dropping just by looking at it
[Strategic_Steve]: Wait, this Holy Grail War clearly isn't over yet! There are still three Servants and three Masters! Why is the Grail manifesting NOW?!
[News_Nancy]: Don't even mention it—the Professor's stream next door has completely fallen! The remaining Servants are getting wrecked by this Holy Grail!
[Demanding_Dave]: Speak English! What's going on?!
[Angry_Andy]: Old fox, come out and EXPLAIN!
No wonder the comments were so agitated.
In the center of Fuyuki City—or what used to be Fuyuki City—a colossal golden trophy burst forth from the ground.
It stood like a television tower, impossibly tall, impossibly wrong.
The thing defied description. It was clearly meant to be a cup—a grail—but it had been corrupted into something nightmarish. Something that hurt to look at.
What should have been a sacred golden light now exuded an extraordinary evil. The kind of wrongness that made your skin crawl just from proximity. The kind of malice that didn't just threaten your body—it threatened your very sanity.
And in the next second—
Countless eyeballs appeared on the surface of the golden cup.
They blinked. They focused. They saw.
The chat section completely lost its mind.
At the same time, with the appearance of those eyes, countless ribbon-like tentacles shot outward in all directions across the ruined city.
They moved with terrible purpose. Seeking. Hunting. Corrupting everything they touched.
"What in the world is THIS?! Meow!" Astolfo's voice cracked with alarm, the Rider taking an involuntary step backward.
"Master..." Medea's tone was grim. Her magical senses were screaming danger.
"Such strong malice." Lily's grip tightened on her sword, her knuckles going white. "I can't sense anything good from that at all. It's pure... evil."
"Max, what exactly is going on?" Maverick demanded, his voice carrying an edge of real fear for the first time.
Max turned to face his ally, his expression unreadable.
"What right do you have to ask? Can't you just watch the plot unfold? You've corrupted the entire internet's atmosphere with your questions!"
Despite the joke, his eyes were fixed on the abomination rising from the center of the city.
He knew what this was.
Every Fate fan knew what this was.
The corrupted Holy Grail. The vessel filled with All the World's Evils. Angra Mainyu's curse made manifest.
The Evil of This World.
It was coming.
And there was no avoiding it now.
