About Brigalisc:

Brigalisc is a land overflowing with nature's wealth - lush ecosystems, rare minerals, and raw materials found nowhere else. It is said that if something can exist, Brigalisc can grow it, mine it, or create it.

Because of this, the nation has never known true peace.

For centuries, foreign powers have cast their eyes upon Brigalisc. The oldest and most relentless of them all is Gordionis, whose conflict with Brigalisc dates back to 827 BCE, centered around the resource-rich Caldengo region. Their rivalry has since become legendary - part war, part tradition, part obsession.

Other nations once sought conquest as well. The Ven-Kel-Cath Commonwealth and Kelpiekirk both attempted to claim Brigalisc's riches. But over time, ambition gave way to pragmatism. War was costly - trade was not. One by one, they laid down their weapons and became partners instead.

Today, despite its tense relationships with Gordionis and Kelpiekirk, Brigalisc maintains stable and peaceful ties with most of the world. It is not only one of the most vibrant exporting nations - it is also among the largest importers. Curiously, Brigalisc prefers not to manufacture everyday goods, instead relying on nations like Kernevel to supply them.

At the heart of Brigalisc, in the central region of Klesna, stands one of its most breathtaking landmarks: the Mosaic Moon.

This massive spherical monument, inspired by the moon, is constructed from thousands upon thousands of fragments - each piece sourced from different regions, materials, and cultures.

No two fragments are the same.

Its surface is intentionally uneven, mimicking the craters of a real lunar body. Embedded within the structure are reflective materials that cause it to glow softly at night, as if it were a fallen celestial object resting on the earth. Visitors can walk around it and even step inside, where light dances across its interior like starlight scattered in motion. The Mosaic Moon stands as a symbol of unity - diversity shaped into something whole.

The 1200s marked a turning point in Brigalisc's history.

With the invention of synthesis engines, the impossible became routine. These machines could transform simple, cheap ingredients - even dirt - into rare and valuable materials through complex processes.

Production skyrocketed. Opportunity followed.

From this surge rose powerful clans - later known as Families - who built vast smuggling networks across the continent of Eldervale. Their goods were cheaper than official markets, making them irresistible. Some even extended their reach internationally, aided by connections in aerial transport units. But unlike typical criminal organizations, the Families were tolerated.

Even supported.

The authorities allowed their operations under one condition: maintain order. As long as civilians were not caught in their turf wars, the Families were free to operate. In fact, their influence quietly contributed to Brigalisc's rise as an economic powerhouse. Some crime bosses grew so powerful that they began stepping into politics, blurring the line between governance and organized crime.

Brigalisc is known across the world by a single title, "The Manufacture". Not because it produces ordinary goods - but because it creates what can't exist.

Using inexpensive base materials, Brigalisc's synthesis processes can generate rare substances, duplicate them multiple times, or even invent entirely new materials unknown to nature.

Some can only be found here. Some cannot be found anywhere else - because they were never natural to begin with. It is estimated that Brigalisc has produced over 50,000 unique materials… though many believe the true number is far higher.

Brief modern history:

I. The Multilateral Accord and the Age of Prosperity (1168)

In 1168, Brigalisc concluded a landmark multilateral agreement with the nations of Keldar, Hleidisland, Raginheim, and several other sovereign parties. The accord established a shared framework for technological advancement, formalising mutual obligations toward collaborative research and development initiatives. The agreement inaugurated a period of substantial material and institutional growth within Brigalisc.

II. The Era of Corruption

Notwithstanding the material prosperity generated by the accord, numerous governmental figures exploited the resulting influx of resources and technological assets for purposes of personal enrichment. These individuals acquired financial gains and illicit materials through systematic abuse of their offices. Corruption became pervasive throughout the administrative apparatus, constituting one of the most inequitable eras in national history. The government functioned primarily through systems of privilege exploitation and institutional abuse rather than legitimate administrative process.

III. The Monteggio File and the Collapse of Order (1170–1171)

In 1170, an anonymous whistleblower released the Monteggio File - a comprehensive documentation of corrupt transactions exposing the extensive networks of illegal exchanges conducted by senior political leadership.

Within one day of publication, the state descended into widespread civil disorder. Continuous protests, riots, and violent confrontations between security forces and civilian populations erupted throughout national territory. Numerous governmental officials were forcibly removed from their positions.

Stefan Brigne, Administrator of the Bureau of Financial Affairs, was discovered deceased - his body abandoned in a public thoroughfare during the upheaval. Subsequently, the incumbent Head of State, Bastian Caneva, was found dead within his office, having been poisoned by unknown assailants.

The deaths of senior officials precipitated a catastrophic power vacuum. No individual faction could consolidate governmental authority. Multiple political assassinations and organised purges were conducted as competing interests sought to eliminate rivals.

The most notorious of these actions was the Severing, orchestrated by military commander Giovan Pico, who systematically eliminated more than one thousand individuals from the political and commercial sectors.

IV. The Reign and Fall of Giovan Pico (1171–1172)

Giovan declared himself Head of State on 9 June 1171, two days following the completion of his purge. His regime proved unsustainable. Near year's end, a secondary disclosure revealed Giovan as the principal architect of the majority of the corrupt transactions originally documented in the Monteggio File.

Giovan suffered immediate and severe popular backlash. Upon his attempt to suppress public opposition through the use of force, he fell from the twenty-fifth floor of a building on 11 January 1172. The identity of his assassin was never formally established.

V. The Year of Anarchy (1172)

The state continued to suffer under power vacuum conditions throughout the entirety of 1172. Multiple factions contested governmental authority, yet none achieved sufficient legitimacy or operational control. The seat of Head of State remained vacant; populations administered themselves through localised community structures.

VI. The Rise of Elmyra Valeshka Norin and the LPU (1173)

On 1 January 1173, Elmyra Valeshka Norin, leader of the Lumeva Progres Unia (LPU - Luminous Progress Union), seized governmental offices and declared herself Head of State. Surrounded by hostile factions and surviving multiple assassination attempts and conspiratorial schemes, she and her party conducted a systematic campaign against opposition forces.

Following four months of intensive political and paramilitary conflict, the state achieved a degree of stability. The majority of rival parties were either disbanded or imprisoned. On 28 April 1173, Elmyra Valeshka Norin was formally recognised as Head of State, and the LPU was designated the ruling party.

VII. The Execution (1173–1176)

One week following her official recognition, Norin issued orders for the execution of all individuals named in the Monteggio File and subsequent corruption documentation. The resulting programme of judicial and extrajudicial punishment became known as the Execution, conducted over a period extending from 5 May 1173 through June 1176.

Certain individuals received sentences of imprisonment in excess of one hundred years; others were sentenced to life imprisonment. The overwhelming majority, however, were executed by means of crushing machines - mechanical devices designed to compress victims to death through sustained mechanical pressure. The estimated number of individuals executed during this period was ten thousand.

VIII. Governmental Reorganisation and the Establishment of the DZL (1174–1183)

Throughout the period 1174 to 1180, the state's political infrastructure underwent comprehensive reorganisation. Governmental departments were merged to reduce institutional complexity and eliminate redundant bureaucratic processes, producing a streamlined administrative framework under centralised authority.

In 1183, the Direkta Zorven Lumea (DZL) was established as an organisation responsible for the maintenance of internal political stability. The DZL operated a continuous programme of political surveillance, monitoring for emerging threats to the ruling administration. Simultaneously, it functioned as one of Eldervale's most operationally capable intelligence agencies, conducting espionage and counterintelligence activities both domestically and internationally.

IX. Early Military Conflicts and Diplomatic Expansion (1190–1200)

In 1190, Brigalisc was drawn into limited armed conflict against Kelpiekirk and Gordionis. Hostilities remained below the threshold of total war but required sustained military engagement over an extended period.

In 1194, conflict continued against Rauvolgava, whose armed forces employed long-range projectile systems capable of launching attacks directly from their homeland territory into Brigalisc regions.

In 1200, Brigalisc established formal diplomatic relations with Cathair Ghormfhain, thereby expanding its network of strategic alliances and international partnerships.

X. The Synthesis Engine Programme and the Golden Era (1211–1264)

In 1211, Brigalisc initiated the construction of synthesis engines - revolutionary devices capable of generating materials with programmable properties and characteristics. Initial prototypes were technologically limited but demonstrated proof of concept for the controlled generation of novel matter.

By 1228, the deployment of the second-generation prototype resulted in a dramatic improvement in state goods production. Synthesised materials were subsequently exported to multiple nations, establishing Brigalisc as a critical international supplier of specialised substances unavailable through natural sources or conventional manufacturing processes.

By 1264, Brigalisc had successfully synthesised more than five thousand distinct material types, though certain particularly complex substances remained under active research. These developments inaugurated what became known as the Golden Era - a period of unprecedented economic prosperity and extensive international commercial influence.

XI. The Sorevich Affairs (1237–circa 1240s)

In 1237, the incumbent Head of State, Valenko Dravimir Sorevich, was compelled to resign following sustained civil unrest directed against his administration. Sorevich himself could identify no policy failures or institutional scandals that would account for the public hostility directed toward him.

His successor, Karevian Moltarek Zorinov, was imprisoned within one year of assuming office, having been found guilty of disseminating disinformation and engaging in political manipulation. Investigations established that Zorinov had deliberately fabricated a public narrative of corruption against Sorevich in order to facilitate his own ascension to power.

Sorevich was subsequently invited to resume leadership. He accepted with reluctance, having lost confidence in political institutions. After three years, he was again forced to resign - this time due to fabricated allegations of drug addiction. Sorevich permanently withdrew from public life and pursued a career in horticulture. Following his eventual exoneration - after evidence confirmed that the allegations were entirely false - authorities invited him to return to office for a third time. He categorically declined.

XII. The War Against Gordionis and Kelpiekirk (1249–1250)

Total war against Gordionis commenced on 17 April 1249, following persistent border conflicts throughout the 1220s. Two weeks subsequent, Kelpiekirk joined the conflict as a co-belligerent in alliance with Gordionis.

The Battle of Novigrath (Gordionis) - encompassing the Western Moravik and Southern Nemeris regions - constituted the longest and largest combined ground-air engagement of the conflict, lasting three months from 29 April to 18 July 1249. The battle witnessed numerous sustained enemy offensive waves. Despite Brigalisc achieving ultimate victory, the entire operational front was devastated.

The Battle of Ordelvyn (Gordionis) from 8 June – 13 August 1249, marked the first operational deployment of Brigalisc's comprehensive anti-air system - automated targeting platforms capable of launching seven hundred rounds simultaneously across the aerial battlespace. These platforms were specifically developed to counter Gordionis's aerial combat units.

By September 1249, Brigalisc had established clear military superiority and advanced into enemy territory, capturing multiple strategic installations in Western Gordionis and Southern Kelpiekirk. The war concluded on 8 March 1250 with Brigalisc's victory. No permanent territorial annexations were made; however, the defeated nations were compelled to provide material reparations comprising fluxwater (a liquid with variable density properties), cryoGel (a supercooled colloidal suspension), aetherfluid (a low-viscosity volatile compound), ferroxium (a magnetically responsive metallic compound), and numerous other exotic substances. These materials possessed the additional strategic significance of being naturally harvestable within Gordionis and Kelpiekirk territories, rendering them especially valuable as long-term resources.

XIII. Diplomatic Expansion and the Prelude to the First Great War (1271)

Throughout 1271, Brigalisc continued expanding diplomatic relations across both Eastern and Western Eldervale, positioning itself as a neutral supplier of technological materials and a diplomatic intermediary. This trajectory was disrupted by the escalating tensions that preceded the First Great War of Eldervale.

XIV. The First Great War of Eldervale (1272–1273)

Gordionis declared war on Brigalisc on 30 August 1272, seeking retribution for their defeat in the War of 1249–1250. Rauvolgava joined as their ally. During this conflict, Brigalisc provided sustained material aid to Askalton in support of operations against their shared adversaries.

The war's first five months were characterised by prolonged border engagements with Gordionis. Gordionis deployed aerial combat units equipped with aether ornaments - devices enabling enhanced aerial manoeuvrability and combat effectiveness. Brigalisc deployed continuous anti-air barrages; however, Gordionis forces had developed countermeasure equipment capable of deflecting or absorbing projectile impacts, significantly reducing their effectiveness.

The Battle of Verokel (Brigalisc), commencing on 7 January 1273 against the combined Gordionis-Rauvolgava alliance, marked a critical deterioration of Brigalisc's strategic position. Enemy forces achieved overwhelming superiority through coordinated aerial assault complemented by Rauvolgava's deployment of optically camouflaged infantry - soldiers employing technology rendering them undetectable to conventional observation. Brigalisc forces suffered continuous ambush attacks across all sectors of the operational front.

Brigalisc was compelled into tactical withdrawal. By April 1273, forces had been pushed back to the Orisyl region near the state's interior. The high-altitude mountainous plateaus of Orisyl provided natural defensive advantages, and enemy forces were unable to penetrate this terrain.

The critical engagement occurred at the Battle of Kalindra, centred upon a substantial bridge structure connecting the highland plateau to lower terrain. On 27 June 1273, recognising that the bridge could not be held by conventional means, Brigalisc command ordered its demolition via explosive ordnance. The ordnance failed to detonate due to technical malfunction.

Enemy forces successfully crossed the structure, reaching the lower terrain on 31 July 1273. The defensive line officially collapsed, exposing Brigalisc's interior regions to enemy occupation.

Following four months of continuous enemy advancement into national territory, Brigalisc accepted unconditional defeat on 18 November 1273. The resulting peace settlement ceded the entirety of Brigalisc's Eastern territories to Gordionis and Rauvolgava and imposed substantial material reparations, compelling Brigalisc to provide significant quantities of synthesised materials as war indemnity.

XV. The December Coup and the Brigalisc Civil War (1273–1275)

The catastrophic military defeat generated widespread civil unrest - characterised by labour strikes, public demonstrations, and sporadic armed uprisings - and stripped the LPU government of all popular legitimacy. On 10 December 1273, Zorveth Maldrik Vanuros executed the December Coup, effectively terminating LPU governance.

Almost immediately, Velora Xanthei Moris launched a counter-coup seeking to eliminate Zorveth. The attempt failed following sustained armed confrontations between rival forces throughout the capital. This engagement escalated into a full civil war between the Velora and Zorveth factions on 15 December 1273. A third faction subsequently emerged under Kaelzoryth Veykros, whose movement coalesced from defectors of both primary factions in consequence of ideological disagreements regarding national governance.

The Battle of Apnune

The Battle of Apnune persisted for approximately two months beginning 8 February 1274, with all three factions contesting control of the city. Apnune's strategic significance derived from its housing of one of the state's largest logistical hubs, the control of which would confer superior supply lines and a fortified launching position for subsequent offensive operations.

The Battle of Orvenka

The Battle of Orvenka constituted the largest and most destructive engagement of the civil war, inflicting substantial losses upon Zorveth's military capacity. The engagement devolved into chaotic three-way urban warfare in which no clear front lines existed. Soldiers were compelled to fragment into small, isolated units conducting independent operations with minimal coordination, resulting in confused engagements in which combatants from all three factions operated simultaneously within the same urban sectors.

The Gordionis-Kelpiekirk Intervention

On 23 December 1274, Gordionis and Kelpiekirk declared war on Brigalisc, seeking to exploit the civil war's disorder for purposes of territorial absorption. This external threat compelled a reluctant united front among the warring Brigalisc factions. The Cathair Ghormfhain-Keldar alliance and the Cloud Garden faction additionally deployed volunteer forces to oppose the Gordionis-Kelpiekirk advance.

The Battle of Vostrel resulted in a catastrophic defeat for Gordionis forces, simultaneously sparking widespread uprisings throughout the occupied Eastern Brigalisc territories. After three months of unsuccessful military operations, Gordionis and Kelpiekirk executed a tactical withdrawal, abandoning their annexation objectives.

With the external threat neutralised, the three factions resumed internecine conflict, all sides continuing to receive material and personnel support from Cathair Ghormfhain and the Cloud Garden coalition.

The Battle of Savrello and the End of the Civil War

The Battle of Savrello - a three-way engagement between all factions - marked the simultaneous downfall of the Zorveth and Kaelzoryth regimes, culminating in the complete collapse of Zorveth's administration on 13 May 1275. Though the engagement's strategic value was minimal, it became a prestige objective that each faction committed to at the cost of mutual exhaustion. Velora's forces were the only faction retaining substantial operational capacity at the battle's conclusion.

Recognising her decisive strategic advantage, Velora ordered a final coordinated offensive operation targeting both remaining rivals simultaneously: westward against Zorveth remnants and southward against Kaelzoryth positions. The operation, designated Expedition, commenced 20 June and concluded 7 October 1275.

The operation involved continuous and costly advancement over its duration. Decisive success was achieved when Velora forces captured Kaelzoryth's stronghold of Portofina after a thirty-day siege, eliminating the last organised factional resistance.

Brigalisc achieved peace under Velora's military victory. Velora herself declined the position of Head of State, citing serious health concerns that precluded assumption of long-term governmental responsibilities.

XVI. The Ascension of Matteo Silvio Zarelli (1275)

An unconventional candidate emerged in Matteo Silvio Zarelli, known as "the Godfather" - criminal patriarch of La Rete Scarlatta and head of the influential Zarelli family. Zarelli had covertly supported Velora's forces throughout the civil war, providing weapons procurement, medical supplies, logistical support, and - most critically - comprehensive intelligence networks that enabled Velora's forces to anticipate enemy movements and exploit factional vulnerabilities. His contributions had elevated his practical authority among Velora's officials to the point of rivalling formal governmental structures.

On 18 October 1275, Matteo Silvio Zarelli was formally installed as Head of State - marking the unprecedented ascension of an organised criminal figure to legitimate governmental authority.

XVII. Reconstruction and the Zarelli Welfare State (1275–1278)

Under Zarelli's administration, the state - devastated by consecutive wars - underwent rapid reconstruction. Universal social welfare programmes were implemented: basic necessities were provided without cost to citizens, including food rations distributed through establishments colloquially known as "Matteo's Kitchens," universal healthcare access, education at all levels, and subsidised housing. These programmes were further expanded following the official conclusion of the recovery era in 1278.

Zarelli simultaneously established clandestine contact with populations residing within the occupied Eastern territories beginning in 1276, developing extensive intelligence networks and organising insurgent forces under his direct command in preparation for future operations.

XVIII. Economic Reorientation and Criminal Consolidation (1280s–1290)

In the 1280s, Brigalisc declared a fundamental economic reorientation: the state would henceforth focus exclusively on the production of raw materials and specialised synthesised substances, importing finished consumer goods primarily from Kernevel and other international suppliers as demand required.

Throughout 1285 to 1290, Zarelli systematically consolidated authority with other criminal families and syndicates. This integration process was not uniformly peaceful - several inter-clan conflicts erupted as competing organisations contested territorial control and resource distribution. Zarelli's superior organisational capability and willingness to employ decisive force ultimately subordinated the majority of rival factions to La Rete Scarlatta's authority.

XIX. The Second Great War of Eldervale - Brigalisc Theatre (1291–1294)Opening Offensives and the Reclamation of the East

Exploiting the escalating tensions of the Second Great War of Eldervale, Brigalisc declared war on Gordionis on 28 February 1291, simultaneously activating pre-positioned insurgent forces throughout the occupied Eastern territories.

With meticulous preparation and coordinated surprise operations launched from the Eastern regions, Brigalisc forces executed aggressive advances to reclaim lost territories. A prolonged series of interconnected aerial engagements - designated the Bird Hunt - saw Brigalisc continuously deploy diverse synthesised materials into the atmosphere, each possessing distinct tactical properties. Materials generated dense smoke to obscure visibility, released corrosive compounds damaging aircraft surfaces, and created electromagnetic interference disrupting navigation systems. The constant variation in deployed materials prevented enemy forces from developing comprehensive countermeasures.

The Battle of Rivalto marked the first engagement in which Brigalisc national military forces coordinated operations with indigenous insurgent units. The decisive Brigalisc victory energised resistance movements throughout the occupied territories, precipitating more intense and widespread uprisings.

The Invention of Invisible Stone

In March 1291, Brigalisc successfully synthesised invisible stone - a revolutionary aerosol deployment system. When launched skyward, the projectile detonated at a predetermined altitude, dispersing concentrated carbon monoxide across extensive areas. The compound persisted for more than eight hours, rendering affected airspace completely unbreathable and effectively neutralising Gordionis's aerial superiority across contested zones.

The Eastern Campaign and the Rauvolgava Front

From April through August 1291, the majority of the Eastern sector was recaptured by Brigalisc forces through the combined application of conventional military operations, insurgent sabotage, and chemical area denial.

Rauvolgava declared war on Brigalisc on 28 August 1291, opening a second front and compelling strategic recalculation. Brigalisc established fortified defensive lines across the Rauvolgava front. The continuous deployment of synthesised materials into the atmosphere reached progressively critical saturation levels. The sky exhibited constantly shifting coloration from diverse suspended chemical compounds. As accumulated compounds precipitated onto the surface, coloured toxic mists blanketed the entire operational front.

Rauvolgava's optically camouflaged infantry proved significantly less effective under these conditions: extensive bombardment had obliterated conventional terrain features such as buildings and vegetation, and the absence of visual reference points paradoxically made camouflaged soldiers easier to detect through movement observation and thermal signatures.

Most confrontations devolved into close-quarters engagements with limited territorial gains. The stalemate persisted until February 1292.

The Verkessan Trail and the Battles of Sector 700

Brigalisc achieved a strategic breakthrough in early 1292 by capturing the Verkessan Trail after nearly one hundred days of sustained combat. This mountain passage provided direct access to Sector 700 - the largest military installation in the Western region of Gordionis, housing command infrastructure, weapons depots, and elite military formations.

The planned assault on Sector 700, however, failed due to overwhelming defensive reinforcements. Gordionis command recognised the installation's strategic criticality and committed substantial resources to its defence. Visibility across the operational theatre had become virtually nonexistent due to atmospheric chemical saturation, rendering conventional tactical coordination operationally unfeasible.

The Second Battle of Sector 700 commenced on 14 April 1292, with Brigalisc launching sustained synthesised material attacks against the entire installation. Despite sustained effort, and the capture of numerous peripheral sections of the base, the main headquarters complex remained intact. The engagement concluded on 27 May 1292 when Brigalisc command formally acknowledged the impossibility of capturing the installation without prohibitive casualties.

Territorial Gains and Stalemate (Mid–Late 1292)

Between June and October 1292, Brigalisc captured the cities of Orzeth, Myrrhikos, and Tazkheron within Gordionis territory. Territorial changes remained minimal overall, however, due to intensive enemy reinforcement and environmental conditions preventing rapid exploitation of tactical successes.

Operation Zekh (December 1292 – March 1293)

On 10 December 1292, Gordionis and Rauvolgava launched Operation Zekh - a massive coordinated counteroffensive across all active fronts. The operation achieved substantial initial success, restoring full control of Sector 700 and pushing Brigalisc forces back across multiple sectors. Combat occurred under conditions of near-complete atmospheric obscurity, with soldiers relying entirely upon sound, thermal signatures, and saturation fire. Friendly fire casualties reached unprecedented levels.

The most dramatic engagement of Operation Zekh occurred at the Siege of Zelqir on 26 February 1293, in which approximately 40,000 Brigalors were encircled within the city with no viable evacuation routes. The same toxic atmospheric conditions that had facilitated their encirclement paradoxically enabled their escape: under absolute obscurity, small groups infiltrated through enemy lines, navigating by compass and predetermined coordinates. The majority successfully extracted from the encirclement before Gordionis forces detected the evacuation.

Operation Zekh concluded on 1 March 1293, having failed to achieve its complete territorial objectives. The offensive stalled as advancing forces encountered the same environmental obstacles that had previously constrained Brigalisc offensive operations.

The Three Great Campaigns (March 1293 – July 1294)

Brigalisc launched a comprehensive counterattack on 10 March 1293, initiating three simultaneous campaigns that would persist until the war's conclusion.

The Ashfall

The Ashfall commenced on 12 March 1293 and persisted for 421 days, spanning five strategic locations: Brasken, Bronthos, the Elionas River corridor, and the Zalmonis Valley. The designation derived from the continuous precipitation of particulate chemical residue - accumulated atmospheric deposits that fell upon the landscape in a manner analogous to volcanic ash, coating terrain and personnel in layers of toxic multicoloured sediment.

Both coalitions committed unlimited reinforcements to contest every metre of terrain. Artillery bombardments transformed the landscape - forests and urban centres were reduced to crater fields. The Elionas River became biologically dead and chemically hazardous from accumulated contamination. Despite the extraordinary expenditure of resources and lives, neither side achieved decisive advantage. Territorial control oscillated continuously as positions were captured, lost, and recaptured in successive cycles.

The Dry Blood

The Dry Blood persisted for 389 days, concentrated on the capture of Kylenis - the largest urban centre in Western Gordionis. The battle's designation derived from the city's appearance following months of bombardment: structures stained rust-red from iron oxide compounds released by certain chemical weapons created the visual impression that the entire city had been bathed in dried blood.

Urban combat proved extraordinarily costly. Buildings became vertical battlefields simultaneously contested across multiple floors. Chemical contamination penetrated sealed structures through ventilation systems, compelling soldiers to wear protective equipment continuously at the expense of thermoregulation. The city changed hands seventeen times throughout the campaign. When Brigalisc forces achieved permanent control on 25 March 1294, Kylenis had been reduced to ruins - every structure was damaged beyond repair, every street was cratered, and the entire urban infrastructure was rendered inoperable.

The Deadlock

The Deadlock commenced on 20 March 1293 and continued until the war's official termination. The engagement encompassed both Sector 700 and Sector 600 - the two largest military installations in Western Gordionis.

The Deadlock represented the epitome of attritional warfare. Neither coalition possessed sufficient advantage to achieve a decisive breakthrough, yet neither could afford to cede ground without catastrophic strategic consequences. The result was perpetual combat in which tens of thousands of casualties were sustained for negligible territorial adjustments.

Specialised high-intensity illumination technology was developed by both sides to penetrate the dense toxic mist, providing minimal operational visibility. These illumination systems became primary tactical assets, and their operators became priority targets for enemy forces. Both installations were developed into fortress complexes defended by multiple redundant perimeters and subterranean fortifications immune to aerial bombardment.

Extensive psychological deterioration was reported among combatants on both sides. Soldiers described experiencing hallucinations, auditory distortions, and difficulty distinguishing direction and distance in the chemical haze.

No clear victor emerged from any of the three prolonged campaigns. Both coalitions were rendered incapable of sustaining further offensive operations.

Aid to Keldar and Pyrrhassa

Throughout 1293, as the governments of Keldar and Pyrrhassa collapsed, Brigalisc stepped in to deliver aid and support.

The Pax of Seraphic

Upon the announcement of the Pax of Seraphic, Brigalisc ratified the treaty on 5 July 1294, formally and officially concluding the Second Great War of Eldervale.

XX. Post-War Recovery and Strategic Victory (1294–1298)

Following the ratification of the Pax of Seraphic on 5 July 1294, Brigalisc entered a sustained period of national recovery. The conclusion of the Second Great War of Eldervale was formally declared a strategic victory for the Brigalisc state - a designation affirmed by the successful reclamation of the Eastern territories previously ceded under the terms of the 1273 capitulation.

By 1298, Brigalisc had substantially expanded its network of international commercial relationships, cultivating trade agreements with multiple sovereign nations across Eldervale. Of particular significance was the deepening of trade relations with Kernevel, which emerged as Brigalisc's principal commercial partner during this period.

XXI. The Maturation of the Synthesis Programme (1312–1359)

In 1312, Brigalisc achieved a landmark milestone in the ongoing development of its synthesis engine programme, successfully cataloguing more than twenty thousand distinct synthesised material types. Of particular scientific and commercial significance was the successful replication of several rare materials previously considered irreproducible through artificial means.

By 1352, the state's synthesis engine programme had achieved the successful cataloguing of more than forty thousand distinct material types, a figure that was further surpassed when the total exceeded fifty thousand by 1359. These milestones represented the continued maturation of Brigalisc's programmable matter generation capability and further consolidated the state's position as the pre-eminent supplier of specialised synthesised substances within the region.

XXII. The Western Industrial Powerhouse (1320s onward)

From the 1320s onward, multiple designated production sectors within Brigalisc developed into centres of mass material manufacturing, constituting what became known as the industrial powerhouse of the state. These facilities operated at an unprecedented scale, with the largest individual factory complex spanning an area of fifty square kilometres. The overwhelming majority of these production sectors were concentrated within the Western region of Brigalisc, which became the focal point of the state's industrial capacity and a defining feature of its economic geography.

XXIII. Diplomatic Engagement with Former Adversaries (1331)

In 1331, Brigalisc initiated formal diplomatic engagement with Gordionis and Kelpiekirk. The diplomatic overtures resulted in the establishment of nominal formal relations; however, the outcome of these early negotiations was minimal in practical terms.

XXIV. The Fabbrica Disaster (1336)

On 8 May 1336, the Fabbrica production facility - one of the largest synthesis complexes in the Western industrial region of Brigalisc - was destroyed in a catastrophic industrial accident. The incident resulted from procedural failures during an active synthesis cycle, where multiple volatile materials were processed simultaneously without proper pressure and thermal regulation.

This mismanagement caused a cascading destabilisation within the primary processing chambers. A sudden initial explosion triggered sequential failures across interconnected systems, rapidly engulfing the entire facility in a chain detonation. The resulting fire, sustained by stored materials, led to the complete destruction of the complex.

Atmospheric Contamination and Health Effects

The explosion released a vast mixture of hazardous chemical compounds into the atmosphere. The incineration and vaporisation of thousands of materials formed a dense toxic aerosol, quickly spreading across the Western region.

Within hours, air quality deteriorated severely as a visible chemical cloud displaced breathable air. Driven by atmospheric conditions, the contamination reached central territories within a day and extended into neighbouring nations. Variations in chemical composition created multiple overlapping hazard zones, complicating response efforts. Affected regions reported widespread contamination of air, water, and agricultural land.

Severe health effects were observed across all impacted areas, particularly in regions closest to the facility. Symptoms included respiratory failure, organ damage, chemical burns, and neurological impairment. Medical systems were quickly overwhelmed.

Mass evacuations were conducted under difficult conditions, with damaged infrastructure hindering response efforts. Long-term health effects - including chronic respiratory and dermatological conditions - persisted in populations exposed to lower concentrations. Certain areas remained contaminated for extended periods, continuing to pose health risks.

Recovery and Regulatory Reform

Recovery operations lasted approximately eight months and required significant national resources. Efforts included decontamination, infrastructure repair, agricultural recovery, and public health interventions.

In response, the state implemented major regulatory reforms across all synthesis facilities. These included stricter safety protocols, mandatory monitoring systems, improved operational controls, and enhanced governmental oversight. Compliance became a requirement for continued operation, supported by regular inspections.

Despite remediation efforts, some areas in the Western region remained subject to long-term contamination, requiring ongoing monitoring and restricted access.

XXV. The Administration of Tavin Aresto Lurena and the Prelude to the Third Great War (1365 onward)

In 1365, Tavin Aresto Lurena was elected as Head of State, assuming leadership of a nation characterised by substantial industrial output, extensive international commercial relationships, and a progressively expanding synthesis capability. Under Lurena's administration, the state continued its trajectory of material production expansion and sustained engagement with international trading partners. National development proceeded without significant interruption throughout the subsequent period, until the emergence of the conditions that would precipitate the outbreak of the Third Great War of Eldervale.

Idealology: A Rivendicassion da Note

The ultimate goal of this ideology is the establishment of a sovereign state - physical, relational, or spiritual - that functions as a zone of unconditional acceptance. When the existing worldly order declares a subject to be an error, the highest form of political self-preservation is secession from that order and the construction of, or ascension to, a new realm that operates on the principle of inherent worth.

At its foundation lies the belief that worth is not a social construct granted by institutions, markets, or familial structures in exchange for obedience or utility, but is instead an innate and inalienable property of the individual. This ideology therefore rejects the harsh judgment of the day - the neoliberal scrutiny of productivity, the puritanical gaze of social conformity - and instead champions the night as a sovereign domain, a space free from that judgment. Sleep is viewed as a passive escape, but true liberation is the active act of claiming the night for oneself, staying awake to build a counter-public within the hours the dominant order ignores.

It rejects the primacy of biological kinship as a coercive, inherited obligation, holding instead that true family is found among those who see and cherish one's authentic self without demand or condition. Citizenship within this ideal is not inherited but forged through shared flight and the active choice to witness another's longing without requiring performance in return. The ideology therefore grants a radical moral and political right to exodus: the willingness to leave behind everything familiar - nation, family, or social role - when what awaits above is a love that does not scold or regret.

Trust is understood to be built through voluntary association and shared risk, not through inherited obligation. The world that judges is considered half-asleep, operating on unexamined assumptions and cruel hierarchies. True clarity, in this view, comes in the middle of the night, when others are lost in dreams and one alone is awake enough to see what is real. To hide one's pain is to remain earthbound, tethered to a system that demands silence for survival; to show it honestly is to be lifted into genuine connection.

Human nature, according to this ideology, is defined by a universal longing for something beyond the life one was given. That longing is not rebellion for its own sake but is instead the soul's compass, pointing toward a more authentic existence. There exists in the world - or beyond it - a presence that recognizes the outcast and offers a hand without demanding proof of worth.

The ideal society is therefore a sanctuary for the few: those who have been rejected by earthly systems of judgment. It is a place where tears are met with embrace, not scolding; where there are no tasks to bungle, no performance required to earn love. Existence itself is considered sufficient. Worth is not assigned by productivity or obedience. This society runs on the rhythm of the moon - quiet, reflective, free from the harsh light of judgment that governs the dominant order. In its final expression, it holds that the truest freedom is to leave the earth entirely: to ascend to a realm where no one can demand one be different.
