Upon hearing this, Felix reached out and picked up the document on the table. Seeing its contents, he showed no surprise or astonishment.
'Just as I expected.'
"Please rest assured, Chairman. I will definitely apprehend Lacus Clyne!"
Looking up at Patrick, Felix saluted and gave his assurance.
Patrick nodded lightly and hummed in acknowledgment.
"Hmm."
"There's nothing more for you here. Take the troops I've assigned you and carry out this task!"
Patrick urged Felix as he looked at him.
Upon hearing this, Felix saluted again with his lowered arm, then turned and walked out of the chairman's office.
'Felix, don't let me down!'
Watching Felix's retreating figure, Patrick's eyes churned with emotion as he murmured inwardly.
Outside the Office
After exchanging a few words with the secretary, Felix headed outside.
In Front of the PLANT Supreme Government Office Building
"Captain Griffith, I have been ordered to report to you with the search team on standby."
"Hmm." Felix nodded and asked the man before him, "What's your name?"
"Baron Nelson!"
Baron promptly introduced himself to Felix.
Upon learning Baron's name, Felix patted his shoulder and said with a gentle smile, "Baron, I look forward to working with you!"
"Captain Griffith, you're too kind."
Baron's face showed a hint of being flattered as he replied humbly.
Noting his expression, Felix gave him a calm smile before shifting his gaze away, looking at the street and the buildings ahead. "Do you have any suspicions about where she might be?"
"Captain Griffith, before you joined us, we had already searched many places but found no trace of Lacus Clyne."
When asked this, Baron's smile faded into disappointment as he answered dejectedly.
Hearing this, Felix felt much more at ease.
'Good thing the girl took my advice and didn't hide around broadcasting like in the original storyline, or she wouldn't be so safely concealed.'
"It's alright. As long as we put in the effort, we're bound to find their whereabouts."
Setting aside his thoughts, Felix patted Baron's shoulder, smiled gently, and reassured him.
Comforted, Baron looked up at Felix, his disappointment fading as confidence reignited in his eyes. He nodded earnestly.
"You're right, Captain Griffith."
...
Two Days Later,
In District 5 of Junius City
Inside the temporary rest room of the search team
Felix took a sip of warm coffee and smiled faintly at Baron, who had just returned.
"How did it go?"
Upon hearing this, Baron walked up to Felix, opened a bottle of water on the table, took a few hearty gulps, and began his report.
"Captain Griffith, we still haven't found anything."
"Should we try a different approach?"
Seeing Barron's frustrated expression, Felix pondered briefly before speaking. Hearing this, Barron showed confusion on his face and asked uncertainly.
"Captain Griffith, what do you mean?"
"Siegel Clyne is still in our custody. We can use Siegel Clyne to force Lacus Clyne to reveal herself."
Feigning a ruthless expression, Felix sneered as he spoke. Barron shrank back slightly upon hearing this, his voice trembling with apprehension.
"Captain Griffith, although Mr. Clyne has been suspended from his duties, his status remains special. If we do anything to him, it might cause... complications."
"What are you afraid of? I'll take responsibility if anything happens!"
Looking at Barron's timid, cowering demeanor, Felix maintained a stern expression and spoke with resolute authority.
Seeing Felix's determination, Barron's fear and hesitation diminished somewhat.
'What an old fox!'
Witnessing this, Felix rolled his eyes internally, silently labeling Barron with this assessment.
Several hours later
Clyne Residence
Felix looked at Lacus's father, who had recently been transferred from prison to house arrest, and silently apologized in his heart.
'For my own safety, I apologize in advance for what's about to happen, Mr. Clyne!'
"Felix, what brings you here?"
Siegel looked at Felix standing before him, his face showing confusion as he inquired.
In response, Felix waved to Barron.
"Tie him up!"
"What are you doing?"
Hearing this, all warmth vanished from Siegel's expression, replaced by extreme seriousness as he demanded in a stern voice.
While questioning, Siegel rose from the sofa, adopting an uncooperative stance.
Seeing Siegel's resistance, Barron glanced at Felix but made no move with his hands.
"My apologies, Mr. Clyne!"
Felix's expression turned frosty, his cold voice carrying a hint of remorse as he spoke.
In the next moment, completely unexpected by Siegel and the others, Felix punched Siegel in the stomach.
The intense pain made Siegel's eyes widen. Without the support of Felix's fist, Siegel clutched his stomach, bending over and kneeling on the ground.
The guards watching over Siegel grew displeased at his condition and questioned:
"Captain Griffith, what is the meaning of this?"
"Naturally, to capture Lacus Clyne!"
Felix slightly raised his eyelids, responding calmly and indifferently. After glancing at them, he continued nonchalantly.
"You can report truthfully to the Chairman. As for any consequences, I'll take full responsibility."
Then Felix's demeanor shifted sharply, his piercing gaze falling upon Barron and the others as he spoke in an icy tone.
"Are you waiting for me to do it myself?"
Feeling the intensity and undeniable authority in Felix's gaze, Barren didn't dare say another word, immediately stepping forward with rope to bind Siegel.
The guard attempted to intervene, but Felix stepped in front of the group, gripping his pistol with a stance that dared anyone to challenge its authority.
At the sight of this, the guards immediately halted their movements.
Behind Felix, Barlen continued tying up Siegel while repeatedly apologizing.
"My apologies, Mr. Clyne!"
"My apologies, Mr. Clyne!"
Watching Siegel being bound, the guard questioned Felix once more.
"Captain Griffith, what exactly are you planning?"
"Using Siegel Clyne as bait to lure out Lacus Clyne."
Felix responded indifferently.
He then crouched down, watching as Siegel gradually recovered from the pain, a faint smile on his face as he reached out and patted Siegel's aged cheek.
"Mr. Clyne, blame your daughter. If it weren't for her actions, I wouldn't have treated you this way."
