Chapter—The Silent Witness and the Himalayan Vow
The dawn of the next training day broke over the horizon in a wash of gold and violet. Auron stood in the familiar clearing, his silver armor reflecting the soft morning light. The South Asian Masters arrived shortly after, the playful banter of the previous day replaced by a focused, professional silence. They knew the stakes.
"Yesterday, I was overwhelmed by the four of you," Auron began, his voice steady. "Today, we divide the weight. We will train in duos. Mizu and Arsalan, you are the first hammer. Zoya and Kaveesh, you are the second. You will attack in pairs, synchronizing your auras to strike a single point on my shield."
Mizu and Arsalan stepped forward. The contrast between Mizu's fluid blue energy and Arsalan's roaring white fire was stark.
"On my mark," Auron commanded. "Go!"
The two Masters unleashed their combined might. The blue and white auras intertwined like a double helix of destruction. When the attack hit, a sharp **CRACK** echoed through the jungle. A hairline fracture appeared on Auron's silver barrier. Auron gritted his teeth, his boots sliding back an inch.
"Again!" he shouted.
They repeated the drill for hours. The duo of Zoya and Kaveesh followed, their pink and blue-white energies creating a massive, heavy impact that rattled Auron's very bones. At first, the shield cracked under every duo-assault. But as the sun climbed higher, Luke's control began to evolve. He wasn't just hardening the shield; he was learning to resonate its vibration to cancel out the incoming force.
Finally, during a combined strike from Mizu and Arsalan, the shield didn't crack. It shimmered, absorbed the blow, and remained flawless.
"It's holding," Mizu panted, dropping his hands. "Your shield... it's actually handling the duo-attacks now."
"It's amazing," Arsalan added, wiping sweat from his brow. "But don't think it's just you. I feel a different flow of aura inside me now. The more I hit your shield, the more my own energy refines itself. I feel like I could battle an entire army."
Auron nodded, though he was breathing heavily. "This is enough for today. We are making progress."
Just as they began to pack their gear, a synchronized chime echoed from all four of their communication devices. A priority alert from the Global Council.
**NODE DETECTED: SECTOR 7 - BHUTAN.**
"A node in Bhutan?" Zoya whispered, her eyes wide. "That's so close."
"Let's move," Auron commanded. "We can't let the trail grow cold."
The Hidden Valley of Thimphu
They took to the skies, crossing the jagged peaks of the Himalayas until the pristine, mist-covered valleys of Bhutan appeared below. They landed in a secluded courtyard of an ancient temple where the Auramaster of Bhutan, a man named Tashi, stood waiting.
"Auron! Masters!" Tashi greeted them, his face pale with distress. "Thank you for coming. I did as you said. I thought Bhutan was too small, too peaceful for the devils to notice. But I took the purification scan seriously and checked everyone close to me."
He pointed toward a young woman standing near the temple bells. She was beautiful, but her eyes were clouded with a dark, oily film, and her aura was jagged and corrupted.
"There she is," Tashi whispered. "The node."
Mizu immediately stepped forward, his hands glowing with blue light. "What are we waiting for? Let's defeat her and end the manipulation!"
"Wait!" Tashi cried out, placing a hand on Mizu's arm. "Mizu, I know she is a node, but... she is my relative. We grew up together in this valley. I cannot bear to see her hurt. Please, find another way."
Mizu hesitated, his fire dimming. "I understand... I wouldn't want to hurt my own family either."
Auron, however, stepped forward. His voice was cold, almost mechanical. "Mizu, start creating an Aura Sphere. Now."
Mizu blinked in confusion. "But Auron, she's human! Tashi just said she's his relative. We should try to talk to her—"
"I said: Create. An. Aura. Sphere," Auron repeated, his voice leaving no room for argument.
Mizu, though confused and slightly angry, began to gather his energy. A massive, swirling ball of blue aura formed in his hands. Tashi looked horrified. "Auron, what are you doing? I told you she's family!"
"I am sorry, Tashi," Mizu muttered. "I'm just following orders. I won't release it unless I have to."
The manipulated girl let out a shrill, mocking laugh. "Five Masters against one girl? How typical of the 'heroes.' The devils are much more fair—they only care about strength."
Auron ignored the taunt and walked slowly toward her. "Why did you let them in? Why did you accept the corruption?"
The girl's face twisted in a mask of bitter resentment. "Because of the dream! Tashi and I... we both dreamed of being Masters. We practiced every day in these mountains. But when the Formulation happened, he became the Auramaster of Bhutan, and I? I remained an Aurablaster. Always in his shadow. Always 'a known' of the Great Tashi."
Auron stopped ten feet from her. "You hungered for power. But what is power? It is a shadow we chase because we are afraid of being ordinary. In the global meetings, I don't want to be on the stage. Kaizen doesn't want to be there. We are only there because we have to be. Reject this corrupted power while you still can."
"Liar!" the girl screamed. "You are only standing there because you have the most power of all! Without that silver aura, you are nothing!"
"Is that so?" Auron whispered.
Suddenly, Auron began to move. He didn't use a burst of aura; he used tactical, high-speed footwork, circling the girl in a dizzying pattern that blurred her vision.
"Mizu! Fire the sphere!" Auron commanded. "Target her legs! Keep it small!"
"Auron, no!" Tashi yelled.
Mizu released a small, concentrated bolt of energy. The girl leaped into the air, dodging it with supernatural speed. In that moment of flight, Auron's mind linked with hers for a split second. Beneath the devil's screeching, he heard a tiny, sobbing voice: *Please... free me. I am in such pain.*
"Mizu! A large one! Now!" Auron roared.
Mizu, trusting Auron's tactical mind despite his own fear, unleashed a massive sphere of blue energy. It roared toward the girl like a tidal wave. Tashi fell to his knees, hiding his eyes.
"Power is everything!" the girl shouted, bracing herself for the impact. "Only power can defeat me!"
But just as the sphere was inches from her chest, Auron appeared. He moved with a speed that defied physics. He reached out with his bare arm and smashed Mizu's sphere, dissipating the energy into harmless sparks.
In the same motion, he grabbed the girl's hand and twisted it behind her back, jabbing a pressure point on her neck.
"You are wrong," Auron whispered into her ear. "You weren't defeated by power. You were defeated by tactics and teamwork. Your 'great' devil power couldn't even predict a simple diversion."
He struck her neck, and she slumped into his arms, unconscious.
Tashi and the others ran toward them as Auron gently laid the girl on the grass.
"What were you doing?" Tashi demanded, his voice trembling. "You told Mizu to attack her! You almost killed her!"
"She was manipulated because she worshipped power," Auron explained, his voice softening. "If I had simply purified her, her heart would still crave that strength. She needed to realize that power is a tool, not a god. Being defeated by a 'weaker' tactical move broke the devil's hold on her pride. Now, the purification will actually take root."
Auron placed his hand on the girl's forehead. "Aura Purification."
The green light surged through her. When she finally opened her eyes, the black film was gone. She looked at Tashi and burst into tears. "I'm sorry... I was so jealous... I let the darkness in because I wanted to stand beside you."
Tashi pulled her into a hug. "I am sorry, too. I was so busy being a Master that I didn't see you were lonely."
Tashi looked at the girl, his face turning a deep shade of red. "We both dreamed of this life together. And when I look at you, I don't see an Aurablaster. You are my Auramaster ,at first I was not interested at all becaming auramaster, but you made me I see the person I want to protect the world for. So... will you marry me?"
Airon said, "Wait But you said you are relative."
Then, Tashi took a deep breath and looked at her. "Wait... did I say relative? I meant... my mother's best friend's daughter. We aren't blood-related. Actually ,we does not know that time that tome Auramasters are can only form from our bloodlines. "
The other Masters blinked. "Wait, what?" Arsalan asked.
Tashi said "Yes, but now I really want you to ne my relative and in my bloodline. I again repeat Will you Marry me?"
The courtyard went dead silent. Arsalan dropped his jaw. Mizu looked at Auron. Zoya covered her mouth with her hands.
The girl looked at Tashi, her tears fresh but happy. She nodded vigorously. "Yes. Yes, I will."
Auron cleared his throat awkwardly, turning to his team. "I think... we should give them some personal time. Our work here is done."
As they flew back toward India, the moon rising over the snowy peaks, the mood was strangely light.
"That was... quite a cinematic view," Auru whispered in Luke's mind. "I never estimated finding a node would end with a marriage proposal. Do you think anything like that will ever happen to you, Luke?"
Auron looked at the vast, cold landscape below. "I don't think so, Auru. I don't think anyone loves the man behind the mask like that. And I don't know if I have room in my heart for it either. My life is a countdown."
"Don't be so sure," Auru teased.
"Still," Auron said, his voice regaining its resolve. "It was a great day. We found a node. That leaves eight remaining in nine months. We are winning, bit by bit."
He looked back at Koru. The spirit was trailing behind them, his head down, silent for yet another day. He hadn't commented on the fight, the tactics, or the proposal.
Luke's brow furrowed beneath the mask. *Eight nodes remain. But there is one mystery right here in my own shadow. Koru knows something about the nodes—or something about the shield—that he is terrified to say. I have to find out what it is. Because if I don't, the 2% survival chance might stay at 2%.*
The silver streak vanished into the night, leaving the quiet Himalayas behind, as the world moved one day closer to its destiny.
