Chapter 76 - CHAPTER 7: THE DIVISION

While Zara and her team explored the city and studied its magic, word of their discovery spread through the desert. Chief Hassan arrived with a group of clan leaders, but they were not alone – his son Youssef came with his own followers, their faces set with determination.

"Father," Youssef said, addressing the chief before turning to Zara. "We've heard about this place, about the power that lies here. The desert has been suffering for too long. We should use this magic to restore our lands to their former glory – and to make ourselves strong enough to ensure we never suffer again."

"Strength through dominance is not true strength," Chief Hassan replied. "Our ancestors chose to hide this power because they understood that with great power comes great responsibility."

"But the world has changed," Youssef argued. "Other lands have grown strong through their connections, their shared magic. We've been left behind, clinging to traditions that no longer serve us. This is our chance to catch up, to take our rightful place as leaders of the world."

Zara stepped between them. "This magic isn't meant to make one people stronger than others," she said. "It's meant to heal the land, to bring balance to places where it has been lost. If we use it for power, we'll only create new imbalances, new conflicts."

But Youssef would not be swayed. "You've been away too long, Zara," he said. "You've forgotten what it means to be Sandspire. You think in terms of global balance, but we think in terms of survival. Our people come first."

He and his followers left the city, but Zara could feel his determination like a weight in the air. She knew he wouldn't give up easily, that he would find a way to try and seize the primal magic for himself.

"We need to work quickly," she said to her team. "We have to find a way to integrate this magic into the world's balance system before Youssef can act. If he manages to tap into this power without understanding how to work with it, the consequences could be catastrophic."
