Chapter 172 - Escaping the village (172)

Soryu D. Kairo wanted to leave the Red Line.

And his parents absolutely were not having that shit.

"No."

Kairo stared at his father blankly.

"...You didn't even hear the full sentence."

"I heard enough."

Tobirama crossed his arms.

"You are not leaving the village."

Kairo's eye twitched slightly.

"Why?"

Ayame answered this time.

"Because the outside world is dangerous."

Kairo looked genuinely unconvinced.

"...I can beat most people."

Like come on, unless he ran into an Admiral, he would be fine. Even if he did, most of them were fucking Devil Fruit merchants. Worst case scenario, he flew away. Ninety percent of them couldn't fly, and those who could, couldn't control it.

Or even better yet, he could take a Celestial bum as a hostage. Those cocksuckers wouldn't dare hurt their masters.

Whipped cucks. His humble opinion on them all.

"That is NOT the point," Ayame sighed.

"You are still a child."

That excuse was weak, and they knew it. That said child was stronger than any child his age.

What other 12-year-old had fucking Conqueror's Haki and Ryuo, alongside being able to fuse them together?

"I am a jonin-level operative," he added fiercely. He could go out, dammit.

"You are still a child."

"I mastered Conqueror's Coating."

"You are still grounded."

"...That doesn't even correlate."

Tobirama pointed dramatically.

"The answer is no."

Kairo looked deeply offended.

"But I wanna see the world."

"No."

"Sabaody looks cool."

"No."

"I wanna fight Sea Kings."

"Absolutely not."

"I wanna see if giants are actually that tall."

"We have giants here," Tobirama added.

"But they're only half-giants. I want to see Ancient Giants from Elbaf."

Yes, he was using that excuse. Anything to go there.

"...Still no."

Kairo stared at them silently.

"...What if I wear a disguise?"

"No."

"What if I don't tell anyone who I am?"

"No."

"What if—"

"Kairo."

His mother's tone became serious.

And immediately—

The room quieted.

"...The outside world is not like this place."

Her voice softened slightly.

"Out there... people suffer."

"...People die."

"You have no idea how cruel the Government truly is."

Kairo frowned slightly.

"I saw the archives."

"You saw recordings," Tobirama corrected quietly.

"You did not live through it."

Silence lingered.

"...You are too important."

That sentence annoyed Kairo more than anything else.

Too important.

Too valuable.

Too dangerous.

Everyone always said that.

Like he wasn't a person.

Like he was some walking superweapon.

"...So I just stay here forever?"

"No one said forever."

"But not now."

Kairo clicked his tongue.

He hated this feeling.

Being trapped.

He understood they cared.

That made it worse.

Because he couldn't even be properly angry at them.

"...Fine."

Both parents blinked.

"...That was easier than expected," Tobirama muttered.

Kairo simply stood up calmly.

"I'm going to my room."

Ayame narrowed her eyes slightly.

"...You're suspiciously calm."

"I am emotionally mature."

"You flooded the eastern district last week."

"That was a scientific accident."

"You tried to create artificial weather."

"...And?"

"Kairo."

"...Right."

He walked off.

Far too calmly.

Tobirama stared after him.

"...He's plotting."

Ayame sighed.

"He's definitely plotting."

He stayed in his room like a good boy.

Later that night, when they were asleep, he pulled out some plans from under his bed.

Escape plans.

He had mapped out the entire compound routine, more like the night guards. He knew all the blind spots and so on.

He'd been examining them for a long time.

He paused a bit.

Taking out some seal tags.

Mapping out where all the alarms were.

He wasn't escaping, he was simply using the skills they taught him.

Yeah, that sounded better.

His excuse-making skills were on par with a girl using fancy words to open a relationship.

Why say, "I want to get fucked by other guys without consequences," when instead you could say, "I want to explore my options and myself."

Like come on, the skill required to make that sound reasonable was just amazing, and Kairo was currently borrowing that skill right now.

He bit his thumb and pressed it into a seal.

The next second, a beanbag shaped like him appeared, even with the flames and all.

He placed it under the covers, with its head covered and everything.

"...If they won't let me go normally..."

"I'll just use the back door," he said with a smirk.

He opened the window gently.

Outside—

The hidden city glowed beautifully beneath the artificial sky.

Peaceful.

Warm.

Safe.

And yet—

Kairo's chest burned with curiosity.

The world outside called to him.

The real world.

Not recordings.

Not stories.

Reality.

"...I'll come back."

Then—

BZZZT—BOOM!

He vanished.

Escaping the village should have been impossible.

Keyword:

Should have.

Unfortunately—

Kairo knew entirely too much.

Barrier routes.

ANBU patrol paths.

Blind spots.

Seal frequencies.

Emergency tunnels.

At one point—

An elite sensor ninja paused.

"...Did you feel something?"

Another looked around.

"...No?"

Meanwhile—

Kairo casually crawled across the ceiling directly above them.

Using Haki.

"...Skill issue," he whispered.

Eventually—

He reached the outer layers of the Red Line.

And for the first time in his life—

He saw the real sky.

His eyes widened slightly.

"...Woah."

It was bigger than the artificial one.

Way bigger.

The ocean stretched endlessly.

Moonlight reflected across the sea beautifully.

Wind hit his face.

Real wind.

Not filtered village air.

Kairo smiled softly.

"...So this is the world."

For a moment—

He simply stood there.

Taking it in.

Then—

Excitement exploded inside him.

"THIS IS SO COOL!"

BZZZT—BOOM!

He launched himself downward at absurd speed.

Laughing the whole way.

This was so fucking fun.

He spread his wings and began to glide toward the nearest spot, the Sabaody Archipelago.

He could have fun there. From what he had gathered from King, that place was pretty interesting.

To go to the New World, he would need to coat his ship, and someone there could do it for him.

So, he would make the connection first, then later come back with his own crew and ship and have it coated.
