Chapter 146 - Ancestor vs Descendent (146)

You know, watching two people who were clearly related argue about how they weren't, and listening to Zoro say how he could possibly be related to that geezer, was fun.

"It is truth."

"How could it be? He's not even from Wano?" Ryouma was confused. Was that really someone of his blood?

"Well, to sum it up, Roronoa Zoro is your direct descendant. That connection is confirmed through Zoro's grandmother, Shimotsuki Furiko, who was the older sister of Shimotsuki Ushimaru, the last daimyo of Ringo and a direct descendant of Ryuma. As Furiko was Ryuma's descendant, Zoro inherits this bloodline, making him a great-nephew of Ushimaru and a remote but direct descendant of Ryuma."

Ryuma paused a bit. So that was really his descendant.

"Anyway, this will go on until Zoro musters enough Conqueror's Haki to sever your link with your host body, forcefully sending you back to the Pure Land." Yes, his jutsu had the same weakness as Imu's technique.

Enough Conqueror's Haki could sever it, though in his case, it was slightly harder, because you needed to hit the link. It did not matter if you blew their top off; as long as that link was active, they would come back.

It kind of worked the same way it did in Naruto. Though in this case, he assumed if they somehow managed to destroy the body of the person being used as the host, they could forcefully end the jutsu.

Until then, the zombies were his minions. He didn't like Imu's way of fully taking over the mind. He much rather have the person retain full control, with their will not restrained. They could truly do some amazing stuff that way.

But until that—

"Zoro... good luck."

Zoro placed one of his swords in his mouth.

"As if I will need it." He was ready to use his Three Sword Style against the mighty Sword God.

Kairo walked to Zoro before giving him a bag filled with around twenty pills, all of them recovery pills.

"You will need them."

"Three Sword Style... that's new," Ryuma said. This was the first time he had seen such a thing.

Though he got into his fighting stance...

His blade oozed with Conqueror's Haki. Zoro was only using Armament. Oh, he was going to get his ass whooped.

The two stared each other down. Kairo tossed a piece of paper into the air. Both of them watched as the piece of paper gracefully fell down... the instant, and I mean the instant, it touched the floor—

They were at each other's throats.

Clashing in the middle of the room.

4 Element Seal

The seal glowed a bit as a barrier appeared all around them, engulfing them inside, with Kairo standing outside the barrier. Like this, they could go all out.

"Oh... and by the way, the barrier will not go down until only one person remains inside." As those words left Kairo's lips, he raised his hand slightly.

Ryuma felt himself being buffed. His power skyrocketed to new heights, as if he had steroids injected straight into his veins.

His power practically doubled.

It seemed like he had been buffed.

But the message was clear... beat Zoro to an inch of his life.

"Now, got to get Chopper here," Kairo said thoughtfully. By now, Chopper would have learned how to use Haki to heal someone. Worst case scenario, Kairo could do it.

He was a surgeon in his previous life, and with this body's knowledge and nimbleness, he could do it.

He began clearing out Hogback's operating chamber, making sure to properly disinfect it, ignoring the sound of swords clashing behind him.

Alongside the sound of flesh being cut.

Zoro was getting his ass handed to him, and since Kairo purely wanted Zoro's swordsmanship to improve, it started off with no named moves.

Moves would only be allowed if Zoro managed to land a single hit.

Ryuma slashed at Zoro's chest, creating a huge gash wound. Zoro spat blood toward Ryuma, who raised Shusui to block it.

Zoro used this chance to try and slash at the man. He was only using two swords... where was his third sword, you may ask?

On the floor.

Zoro tried to slash at the man once more, but Ryuma blocked the attack, slashing at Zoro's chest again. The swordsman reacted by blocking the slash coming toward his neck and chest.

Fuck, this was way harder than he thought. The Sword God of Wano was quite strong, although Zoro felt like he wasn't as strong as Kairo.

He could win this. He just needed to lock in like his life depended on it, because, well, it did.

And this would be the moment he used to awaken to the next level, to reach that next tier of power he was just on the cusp of reaching.
