Chapter 180: 198. Wind May Pass, Rain May Pass, But Gods May Not Enter

"You and Xiao Wu are still just brother and sister?" Dai Mubai's mouth hung open. He wanted to comment but didn't know what to say.

"Mubai," Tang San said with a sigh, "you might want to rein yourself in. Zhu Zhuqing's arriving soon."

"I know," Dai Mubai replied. "Didn't you notice? I've already sent away all the women around me. If I were still like my past self, you'd be seeing me with a pair of twins at my side right now."

"Fine, then. I'll see you at the registration meeting," Tang San said.

With that, the two parted ways. Tang San found a modest inn and rented a single bunk for the night.

The next morning marked Shrek Academy's enrollment day.

After the recent money scam incident, few people still came to enroll, but there were always fools eager to throw away their coin. Dai Mubai stood beside Li Yusong like a fierce guardian, glaring menacingly at the potential students.

Pay the fee, test your talent, register, and done—ten gold soul coins per applicant straight into Shrek's coffers.

Anyone who complained? Dai Mubai would beat them until they stopped.

From afar, Dai Mubai spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd. Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Tang San had all arrived. But Zhu Zhuqing hadn't shown up yet.

In their last life, Zhu Zhuqing had arrived last. Why she wasn't here yet this time, he didn't bother to ponder.

He was simply tired of it. The thought of her arrival—of having to "commit" all over again—filled him with irritation. Just thinking about her face made him restless.

Meanwhile, in the Divine Realm, Huo Yuhao opened his divine sight to observe the scene below. This recruitment day was the starting point of Shrek Academy's rise to fame.

He thought about how, in the previous life, Tang San had reshaped his own daughter to resemble him—literally turning her into a baited reflection of his image. Butterflies merging with eyes, eyes with hammers—Huo Yuhao could barely stomach the absurdity. The butterfly and the Clear Sky Hammer fusing with his second martial soul, the Ice Jade Empress Scorpion? Clearly, Tang San's handiwork was behind it.

So what next? Did Tang San think Huo Yuhao would merge his own "filth" martial soul with another's creation? The idea infuriated him.

Now the tables were turned. It was Huo Yuhao's turn to dismantle Tang San's game.

But he didn't intend to use Tang San's same manipulations against him. Tang San's goal had been to use his daughter as bait to trap him, but Huo Yuhao's goal was far greater—and he had no intention of letting Tang San have his way.

In his hand, four motes of divine light appeared. "This should do for now. The aftermath will unfold in due time."

He flicked the lights toward the Douluo Continent. They sank into the bodies of Xiao Wu, Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar.

"Wind may enter, rain may enter, but gods may not," he murmured darkly.

At the academy grounds, Dai Mubai had just finished intimidating a group of fools who'd tried to ask for refunds. Satisfied, he relaxed.

Then, out of nowhere, his heart skipped a beat—a familiar ripple of soul resonance.

Zhu Zhuqing was here. After all, it was by defeating her brother that she had earned the right, in the Divine Realm, to rise to the rank of a level-two god. However much Dai Mubai dreaded it, he knew he had to face her.

He followed the resonance and saw a cute girl in a pink outfit, brown hair tied in a scorpion braid. She blinked at him with wide, lively eyes.

Xiao Wu?

"Must've been my imagination," Dai Mubai muttered, glancing beyond Xiao Wu toward her companion, Ning Rongrong… and then realized—Zhu Zhuqing was nowhere to be seen.

Wait, where is she?!

The martial soul resonance was still there, unchanged. Unconvinced, Dai Mubai focused again in the same direction—only to see Xiao Wu once more, smiling innocently as she met his eyes.

Their gazes locked. Then, Xiao Wu winked at him playfully.

Dai Mubai froze as if struck by lightning. Her wink pierced straight through his mind, flooding it with her face, her laugh, her sweetness.

So cute… too cute.

No! He forced himself back to sense. Xiao Wu was Tang San's woman—his untouchable treasure. How could he even think such things?

Steadying his breath, Dai Mubai tried to focus. Zhu Zhuqing was nowhere in sight, yet her soul resonance still lingered. Again, he sensed it—again, it led to Xiao Wu.

The first time, he thought it was a coincidence. The second time, a mistake. But the third time, there was no denying it.

He realized something that made his blood run cold—he and Xiao Wu shared a martial soul fusion technique.

And judging by how strongly he felt it, their compatibility was astonishing—on par with his fusion with Zhu Zhuqing as the Nether White Tiger.

But was that a good thing?

No—it was a disaster.

No one knew Tang San better than he did. If Tang San ever found out that he shared a fusion technique with Xiao Wu, Dai Mubai's name would immediately appear on Tang San's personal death list—no chance of divine ascension, no salvation at all.

Cold sweat drenched his back.

No, Tang San must never know about this—never.

He wiped the sweat away quickly, forcing calm back into his breathing.

Tang San, meanwhile, had noticed nothing suspicious between Dai Mubai and Xiao Wu. He approached Li Yusong and tossed ten gold soul coins down.

"Show me your martial soul," Li Yusong instructed.

Tang San summoned his Blue Silver Grass. His soul power measured at level twenty-nine. Li Yusong pressed Tang San's hand to sense the flow. "Twelve years old, level twenty-nine? Since when can Blue Silver Grass grow this fast?"

"So, do I qualify as a monster?" Tang San asked.

Li Yusong laughed. "If you're not a monster, then there are no monsters in the world. You've passed. Dai Mubai, take him inside."

Dai Mubai escorted Tang San in, then stepped back out.

Next came Xiao Wu. Following the same process, she displayed her Soft Bone Rabbit martial soul. At twelve years old and level twenty-nine, she, too, passed easily.

"Dai Mubai, take her inside."

Wiping his palms, Dai Mubai forced a smile. "Come with me."

Suddenly, a soft little hand caught his. Xiao Wu leaned closer, her nose brushing his arm as she sniffed lightly. "You smell different. Let's get acquainted—I'm Xiao Wu, the 'dance' in dancing."

So soft… so fragrant… Dai Mubai's senses swirled from the delicate scent of her skin. For a fleeting second, his heart wavered—but the thought of death (and Tang San's fury) jolted him back.

"Dai… Dai Mubai," he stammered.

Luckily for him, Tang San was just ahead. Xiao Wu, unwilling to let her "dear brother" see her getting playful with another man, quickly withdrew her hand. Dai Mubai exhaled in relief— narrowly escaping disaster.
