Chapter 192: Ye Yunxi — I'll Marry Nannan to You
Smack!
One of the healers quickly knocked the hysterical Xu Sanshi unconscious, fearing the psychological shock would destroy his sanity.
But it was only temporary relief; if Xu Sanshi couldn't overcome this, he was finished—both as a man and as a cultivator.
Even his father, Xu Qingyang, could barely accept the reality before him.
He had many sons, true—but most were born to concubines, untalented and unremarkable.
Only Xu Sanshi, born of his official wife, was his pride—the one meant to inherit the sect.
And now, that hope lay in ruins.
Within him seethed a murderous fury; he silently swore to find whoever did this—to tear them apart and make them suffer for a hundred years.
…
The next morning.
Dawn's light crept over Xishi Town, the mist still resting gently in the air.
Ye Chen descended silently outside the Jiang family courtyard.
As he stepped through the gate, he spotted Jiang Nannan emerging from the kitchen, carrying a steaming porcelain bowl.
When she saw him, her fair cheeks lit with a shy glow; her eyes shifted nervously before she smiled, calling softly, "Ye Chen, you're here! I made breakfast. Come, let's eat together~"
Her voice carried a mix of joy and bashfulness.
"Thank you, Nannan-jie," Ye Chen replied with a warm smile, his gaze meeting hers briefly.
She was dressed simply today—a pale blue dress of rough cotton—but the graceful lines of her figure still shone through with natural elegance.
Perhaps from staying up late caring for her mother, faint shadows rested beneath her eyes, yet they only enhanced her quiet beauty.
"My mother's awake. She's in the main room," she said quickly, lowering her head as she hurried ahead.
Ye Chen followed her inside.
At the wooden table sat Ye Yunxi, sipping from a cup of warm water with calm dignity. Before her lay a bowl of thin porridge and a pair of boiled eggs.
At the sight of her, Ye Chen's tension eased instantly—her recovery was even better than he had hoped.
The medicine from yesterday—the Seed of Life—was still working, supplementing her strength.
The dull gray in her hair had completely vanished, replaced by a glossy black sheen that fell softly over her shoulders. The sickly pallor of her face had given way to a healthy warmth, the faint blush of vitality glowing in her cheeks.
Though still slightly thin, the weariness that once clung to her had entirely vanished. A gentle energy surrounded her now—mature, graceful, alive.
Ye Chen could clearly see how much she resembled Nannan, though her presence was gentler, steadier, carrying the charm of a woman in her prime.
Even dressed in simple white linen, her beauty could not be hidden. The soft curves of her shoulders and the subtle shape beneath the fabric gave her a refined allure born from recovery and life's endurance.
"Oh, Ye Chen! Come, come, sit down!" Ye Yunxi exclaimed with a radiant smile, rising quickly to greet him.
Her movements were light and sure—not at all like the frail woman of yesterday.
Her gaze toward Ye Chen brimmed with gratitude and warmth, a closeness almost maternal.
"How are you feeling, Auntie?" Ye Chen asked gently.
"Much better, so much better! All thanks to you," she replied earnestly, taking his hand before urging, "Nannan, pour Ye Chen some tea."
Nannan nodded and poured quickly. When she placed the bowl before him, her fingertips brushed his hand—she drew back like she'd touched a flame, her face turning bright crimson.
Ye Chen accepted the water calmly, smiling. "That's good to hear, Auntie. Still, we should continue treatment to make sure your recovery stays stable."
"Alright, I'll do as you say," Ye Yunxi agreed at once.
The treatment went much like the day before.
As she sat calmly, Ye Chen extended a finger. A pale green glow shimmered to life, condensing into another Seed of Life, which drifted to her lips and melted away.
Ye Yunxi closed her eyes. A ripple passed through her body, and her expression softened into one of serene relief.
She could feel the warmth coursing through every artery, repairing and nourishing what had once withered.
This time, the effect was even greater.
Her body grew lighter, her steps firmer; her revived black hair gleamed with luster, her skin flushed with new color. Even the fine wrinkles at her eyes faded noticeably, leaving behind only calm beauty and radiance.
She looked years younger, glowing with health and elegance.
Jiang Nannan stood by, staring in silent amazement.
It wasn't healing anymore—it was rejuvenation!
At this rate, she thought breathlessly, her mother might actually look eighteen again.
Yet despite the shock in her heart, she didn't dare ask questions. Something so miraculous was surely a great secret, one she had no right to pry into.
Still, as she watched Ye Chen, gratitude and admiration swelled inside her—tinged with a tender affection she herself barely understood.
…
When the treatment ended, Ye Yunxi exhaled deeply, stretching as if reborn. Energy filled her body once more.
"This is incredible," she murmured, smiling with genuine delight.
Her eyes lingered on Ye Chen longer this time—grateful, soft, filled with warmth.
In that cozy room, with sunlight spilling through the shutters, the air between the three of them grew gentle and warm.
Ye Yunxi glanced at her daughter, standing shyly nearby, then at Ye Chen—refined, capable, modest. Thoughts she had tried to suppress finally began to take root.
Her daughter clearly cared deeply for Ye Chen. And he, too, had shown nothing but kindness and devotion.
No mother would ignore a bond so obvious. And deep down, Ye Yunxi wanted nothing more than to secure her daughter's happiness.
After a moment's hesitation, she smiled and asked casually, "Ye Chen, you're still young, but already so talented—and quite handsome too. Tell me, do you… have anyone you like?"
Her tone was light, almost teasing—but her eyes carried meaning.
The question hit Jiang Nannan like a shock. Her face turned scarlet.
"M-Mom! W-what are you saying?!" she stammered.
Flustered, she grabbed the nearest excuse. "I'll… I'll go buy some vegetables!" And before either of them could stop her, she darted out into the courtyard, vanishing from sight.
The room fell quiet, a faint amusement flickering in Ye Yunxi's eyes as she watched her daughter flee. Then she turned back to Ye Chen, her expression soft yet full of intent.
