Chapter 171: Gu Yue: The Dragon Tomb Dares Not Trust Me? Is That Right?
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
Gu Yue took a deep breath, gazing at the fiery-red dragon bone in her hands. "Where did you get this?"
Jiang Chen froze.
Oh no.
He'd gotten so distracted by the Dragon God's Tears that he'd completely forgotten about this.
A chill ran down his spine, his adrenaline spiking.
"Uh… that?" He laughed weakly, sweat forming instantly on his forehead. "I—uh—just dug it up! Yeah, just recently. Didn't even know what kind of dragon it was. The fire attribute was strong, so I figured it must've been related to the Fire Dragon King. Haha… right, let's hurry and find that dragon egg, yeah?"
He quickly grabbed Gu Yue's arm, trying to divert her attention.
"Unimportant, huh?" Gu Yue's tone was amused, her violet eyes narrowing slightly.
But she didn't press further, and only then did Jiang Chen exhale in relief.
That was close—too close.
Holding the Fire Dragon King's bone, Gu Yue released her vast spiritual power, searching across the Dragon Tomb for any sign of life belonging to that bloodline.
"Hmm? She's here?"
Meanwhile, far away within the valley, Na'er's body shuddered violently.
"She's here too?!"
"What's wrong?" Dai Lingyu asked, confused. The others had been happily absorbing the dragon clouds' power, unwilling to stop.
Na'er only smiled faintly and shook her head.
The most precious treasure here—the Dragon God's Heart—was already in Gu Yue's hands. Nothing she absorbed now could ever bridge that distance.
"Has my fate already reached its limit?" she murmured softly.
No matter how much dragon cloud or dragon soul power she took in, it all felt empty now.
Nearby, Dai Yueyan rallied the group, eyes glittering. "There are supposed to be true dragon bones hidden in this valley. If we can find even one, we'll strike it rich!"
"Not just one," he corrected himself. "Each of us should have one."
Seeing that Long Yue and Na'er could still freely use their martial souls despite the suppression here, the others gained confidence. Even if they couldn't find a true dragon's remains, sub-dragon bones would still be invaluable.
"I'll pay properly," Dai Yueyan promised. "Treasures for treasures."
Long Yue opened his eyes, breaking from his trance of absorbing dragon souls and clouds. "We'll see once we find them."
Yet his expression held hesitation. A moment earlier, he'd felt a strange, familiar call—warm, intimate—yet just as quickly, it vanished. It felt as though he'd lost something precious, and the emptiness gnawed at him.
Back inside the tomb, Gu Yue suddenly stopped walking.
Jiang Chen, unaware that Shrek's students—including Na'er and Long Yue—had also entered Dragon Valley, blinked in confusion.
"What's wrong?"
"Your little traitor has arrived," Gu Yue said coldly, gripping the Fire Dragon King's bone tighter.
"Little… traitor?"
Jiang Chen scratched his head—then it hit him. Ah, she meant Na'er.
Well… not a lie, she was half a spy at this point. Always slipping him intel from Shrek's inner academy.
Still, she hadn't mentioned this place.
"So she didn't tell me about Dragon Valley, huh?" he muttered. "Looks like this little girl needs some discipline."
Before he could grumble more, Gu Yue's voice sharpened: "Found it."
A faint crimson glow seeped through the dust not far away, radiating searing heat.
The Fire Dragon King's bloodline.
As they approached, the air shimmered, and in that radiant red bone, they glimpsed faint figures of flame dragons.
When Gu Yue placed her hand against the burnt scarlet surface, the entire tomb seemed to shudder. A heavy wave of hostility washed over them.
It was as if the Dragon Tomb itself rejected her touch.
"Humph."
Gu Yue released a sharp snort.
A massive silver dragon shadow rose behind her—the Silver Dragon King's projection. In an instant, the oppressive force of the tomb vanished. All hostility dissipated.
Instead, a faintly pleading aura filled the air, uncertain, hesitant.
Gu Yue frowned, her tone turning cold.
"What? You think I'm unworthy? Am I not the rightful heir of dragonkind?"
The Dragon Tomb's consciousness seemed to tremble.
She sneered. "I, the Silver Dragon King, carry the power of the Dragon God himself. You dare doubt me?"
"I swear by my name—this flame-born child will grow under my protection."
Her silver eyes flicked to Jiang Chen. "Give me the Fire Dragon King's bone."
Jiang Chen froze. "What? I—I don't have it."
Then her violet gaze fell on him, and he wilted instantly.
This was still the heart of the Dragon Tomb… best not to test her here.
Defeated, he opened his small divine realm unwillingly.
Within it rested the monumental remains of the Fire Dragon King—a monument at its head, marked in his own handwriting.
Even Gu Yue paused for a moment at that. Words failed her.
Whatever anger she carried, she said nothing more. Instead, she used her spiritual power to pull the bones back into the open.
Her eyes flickered with restrained fury nonetheless.
"This was your meddling," Jiang Chen said quickly, raising his hands defensively. "Not mine!"
She ignored him. One piece of the Fire Dragon King's god-rank bones was already missing—but for now, she sighed and placed what remained beside a crimson dragon egg lying dormant nearby.
"You're fortunate, little one," she whispered. "You still have a descendant."
A faint spark flared. A deep roar echoed faintly—
The Fire Dragon King's soul, long suppressed by the power of the Golden and Silver Dragon Spears, rose once more.
The dragon's glowing red eyes regained a trace of intelligence.
Then, lowering its head solemnly to Gu Yue, it dissolved into a streak of light—
merging into the ruby egg before her.
The Fire Dragon King's remains disintegrated completely, leaving nothing but warmth.
The last of his strength—bequeathed to his heir.
Even the restless will of the Dragon Tomb quieted, soothed by this act.
"Why not merge the entire Dragon Tomb into your little divine realm?" Gu Yue said suddenly, cradling the egg, a pleased smile on her lips.
With one living pure dragon—and from the Fire Dragon lineage no less—there was hope for rebirth.
Dragon revival progress: +1.
Feeling the heartbeat from within the egg, her smile brightened even more.
But her suggestion struck Jiang Chen dumb.
…Merge the whole Dragon Tomb into his divine realm?
Was she insane?!
Sure, he envied its power—this sacred ground had produced enough energy to birth eighteen divine dragon knights in another era, strength greater than anything on Douluo.
But that wasn't what he wanted.
He was building his divine realm, not a dragon's.
If he accepted this, then when Gu Yue inevitably became the new Dragon God, his realm would be nothing but her personal dominion!
Absolutely not.
Besides, the only bones he'd taken were ones he'd personally devoured through the Golden and Silver Dragon Spears' power. Everything else had been for his own divine foundation—not to resurrect dragonkind.
The Dragon Tomb would eventually drift through space, merge with the Longma Galaxy, and recreate a new Dragon Realm.
And that was perfectly fine with him.
"N–No, no need," he said quickly, waving his hands. "It's… your people's resting place. How could an outsider like me defile it?"
He forced an awkward smile, praying she wouldn't get another bright idea—
like throwing the entire Dragon Tomb into his small divine realm by force.
