Chapter 185: Meeting Xiong Ba
"The Slaughter King told you what our agreement was, didn't he?"
Dugu Feng sat calmly opposite Xiong Ba.
Xiong Ba grinned, the scars twisting across his face like crawling flesh—so gruesome that Dugu Feng had to avert his gaze.
"The Slaughter King ordered me to inquire about the two gods of slaughter—those belonging to the Spirit Hall and the Clear Sky Sect.
He wants to know what their recent movements are."
Xiong Ba spoke bluntly about his mission.
Dugu Feng smiled faintly. It seemed the Slaughter King was still deeply concerned about both Bibi Dong and Tang Hao.
Of course, he might also be concerned about Tang Hao's father, Tang Bo.
Even now, the very thought of Tang Bo made Dugu Feng's spine tingle.
That man's presence lurked deeper in the shadows than even his own.
To this day, Dugu Feng had failed to detect any sign of Tang Bo's whereabouts.
He sometimes wondered if, back in the City of Slaughter, Tang Cheng's death and Tang Bo's apparent involvement had all been a deception.
That was why Dugu Feng would rather keep his family hidden in the dark, manipulating events between the Clear Sky Sect and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, than expose the Dugu Clan publicly.
Someone else still remained out there in the shadows—someone powerful.
A titled Douluo.
"Xiong Ba, you've already been out of the City of Slaughter for a while now, haven't you?"
Instead of answering the man's question, Dugu Feng asked this calmly.
Xiong Ba froze for a moment. His reaction confirmed Dugu Feng's suspicions.
"How did you know, Guest Elder?" Xiong Ba rumbled in his deep voice.
"The killing intent around you flows freely—you've learned to restrain and release it at will. That doesn't happen right after leaving the City of Slaughter," Dugu Feng said with a smirk.
Xiong Ba chuckled. "The world outside is… far more interesting. I've been out for over a year now, gathering what I can on those two gods of slaughter.
But you understand, Guest Elder—someone of my level can't get close to the core of either Spirit Hall or the Clear Sky Sect."
Dugu Feng nodded. The Slaughter King was clearly jumpy—Xiong Ba was probably not the only one sent to spy for him.
He said sternly, "As for those two, I do know more. But I have my own plans at work. Once you and your master know what I tell you, do not act rashly and ruin my arrangements."
Seeing Dugu Feng's serious demeanor, Xiong Ba quickly bowed. "You can rest assured, Guest Elder. The Slaughter King instructed me clearly—when it comes to dealing with the two gods of slaughter, we follow your lead."
Dugu Feng allowed himself a faint smile. At least the Slaughter King still knew his place.
"Tell your master this: those two have neither the time nor the intent to move against the City of Slaughter right now.
The one from the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Hao, recently fought Yu Yuanzhen fiercely to protect his son, Tang San.
Tang San, his son, possesses twin martial souls—he's the future hope of the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Hao will guard him in secret for years to come.
If I'm correct, when the time comes, Tang Hao will send his son to the City of Slaughter for his trial. When that happens, it will be up to the Slaughter King to decide whether to clash with him or let him go."
As Dugu Feng spoke, Xiong Ba grew more and more shocked.
Twin martial souls! And the second one had to be the Clear Sky Hammer.
He had even seen Tang San at the Great Spirit Arena recently. That young man's Blue Silver Grass alone was extraordinary—and now he learned there was another martial soul.
The fact that Dugu Feng knew something so secret made Xiong Ba revere him even more.
"Furthermore, aside from Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Sect has six titled Douluo: Sect Master Tang Xiao and five elders. Their combined strength ensures that no power on the continent dares challenge them head-on."
Dugu Feng sighed softly.
That, at least, was information Xiong Ba already knew.
Ever since word of the Clear Sky Sect's might had spread, gossip and tales about them had filled the Spirit Master world.
"And the other god of slaughter?" Xiong Ba asked quickly.
"The other one," Dugu Feng said meaningfully, "is also a twin-spirited soul master. I wonder if your master knows that?"
Xiong Ba went speechless.
So many twin martial souls…
His own spirit, the Hunting Demon Bear, was already considered one of the strongest beast-type martial souls.
But compared to twin-spirited monsters like that, he felt utterly inferior.
"The Slaughter King never mentioned that," Xiong Ba admitted with an awkward grin.
"That second god of slaughter," Dugu Feng continued, "has been using her second martial soul to rapidly advance her strength. Spirit Hall will soon see the rise of a new Rank 99 Limit Douluo."
He wanted the Slaughter King to know the full extent of the danger.
Bibi Dong could already use her soul skills within the City of Slaughter—once she reached level ninety-nine, she'd have the power to level the entire city in a fight.
Xiong Ba's heart sank. Suddenly the outside world didn't seem fascinating at all—it was terrifying. The City of Slaughter, in comparison, felt safe.
"Thank you, Guest Elder, for this information. It's crucial. I must return to the City of Slaughter at once to report it to the Slaughter King.
If you ever have the time, please visit us again. Everyone in the City still remembers your glory!"
Xiong Ba flattered quickly.
"Do they really remember?" Dugu Feng asked flatly.
"Cough… absolutely," Xiong Ba replied, lying through his teeth.
"Then perhaps I'll pay a visit one of these days," Dugu Feng said seriously.
Xiong Ba bowed deeply before excusing himself from the private room.
Now, it was up to the Slaughter King's reaction.
Dugu Feng sat for a while longer in thought before heading back to his hotel.
In the grand lobby, he saw Ning Rongrong waiting for him.
As soon as she spotted him, she ran straight into his arms. "You're finally back! I told Grandpa Sword and Grandpa Bone—if you didn't return soon, I would've sent them to find you!"
She had sensed from his earlier look that he was going to meet someone dangerous.
So she had obediently gone back to the hotel and informed her sect immediately.
"It was nothing—just an old acquaintance from the City of Slaughter," Dugu Feng said casually.
Ning Rongrong understood at once. Her quick intuition made him proud.
The Slaughter King was no kind man; Dugu Feng had to stay vigilant.
A quiet "hmph" came from behind them.
The two quickly stepped apart, Ning Rongrong blushing as she straightened her clothes.
Bone Douluo stood there, expression grim.
"Dugu Feng, Rongrong said you might have been in danger. What happened?"
His tone was firm, purely businesslike.
Though he respected Dugu Feng's talent, Bone Douluo still felt like a father whose precious daughter had been taken.
"Bone Grandpa, please, sit down. I'll explain," Dugu Feng said, gesturing to a nearby couch.
The hotel, the most luxurious in all Heaven Dou City, exuded refinement.
The spacious lobby was lined with greenery and comfortable seating, peaceful and elegant.
Bone Douluo nodded and sat down first.
A waiter appeared instantly, serving premium wine and refreshments—after all, guests of their stature deserved nothing less than perfection.
