Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Trial (4)

Eokimo's hands still glowed faintly from the Chain Pulse, the energy from the Ruin Guardian slowly fading. He sank onto the cracked stone floor, letting out a long, shaky breath.

"…We actually did it," he muttered. "…I survived, and it's dead."

Rye dropped beside him, brushing dust from his cloak. "Finally, you were useful. Not bad."

Eokimo shot him a glare. "…Shut up."

Dagan leaned on his spear, grinning despite the sweat and dirt. "I didn't think we'd make it through that one. Your trick actually worked."

Lira twirled her coin lazily, smirking. "Yeah, you didn't trip over your own feet. I'm impressed."

Sen didn't speak, but his sharp eyes scanned the plaza, ensuring nothing else lurked nearby.

Eokimo flexed his fingers experimentally. The residual energy from the Guardian still tingled faintly, feeding into his Absorption skill.

He grinned faintly, feeling a surge of confidence. "…Finally, a skill that actually feels like progress."

Rye smirked. "Don't get cocky. The safe zone's just ahead. We can rest, sure, but the system won't stop sending challenges forever."

Eokimo groaned. "…Yeah, I know."

The group moved toward the faint shimmer of the safe zone gate. The trial had ended, and they were allowed to enter. Their steps slowed, exhaustion heavy on their bodies, but there was a lightness in the air — a brief sense of accomplishment.

As they approached the gate, Eokimo let himself relax a little. For now, the trial was done, and they could enter the safe zone, recover, and prepare for whatever comes next.

He sank onto a stone bench just inside the gate, letting out a long sigh. "…I can't believe we survived this."

Rye leaned back against a wall, smirking. "Believe it. We did it. Now… enjoy the calm while it lasts."

Eokimo allowed a small, tired smile to form. The safe zone awaited, and for the first time in days, he could finally breathe.
