Chapter 111 - Overload

The cave felt different now.

Not colder.

Not darker.

Alive.

Every step Elios took deeper underground echoed strangely through the tunnels, as if something beneath the earth was listening.

The black flow moved naturally around him now.

Not violently.

Not forcibly.

Like it belonged there.

That realization alone made Elios uneasy.

Before—

Black Veil only appeared during desperation.

During survival.

During death.

Now—

it surfaced simply because he had returned.

"…This is bad…"

His voice echoed faintly through the tunnel.

But the cave swallowed the sound immediately.

Elios continued deeper.

The symbols along the walls became denser.

No longer random scratches.

Patterns.

Almost resembling language.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"…Someone made these…"

Not monsters.

Not mindless creatures.

Something intelligent existed below.

And somehow—

the deeper he went—

the more the black flow reacted.

Pulse.

Slow.

Rhythmic.

Like a heartbeat beneath his skin.

Then—

the whispers returned.

Clearer this time.

Not understandable.

But closer.

Elios stopped immediately.

"…Who's there?"

Silence.

Then movement exploded from the darkness ahead.

Multiple figures rushed him instantly.

Too many.

The chamber erupted into chaos immediately.

Elios moved instinctively.

Steel flashed through the darkness.

One creature fell.

Then another.

Pulse condensed violently in his palm.

Released.

The compressed blast tore through the tunnel, shattering stone and bodies together.

But more kept coming.

Too many.

Their screams echoed unnaturally through the cave.

And suddenly—

something felt wrong.

The sounds.

The movements.

For brief moments—

they no longer looked like creatures.

His vision flickered.

One of them looked human.

Then monstrous again.

Elios' breathing immediately destabilized.

"…No…"

The black flow surged harder around his body.

The creatures attacked again.

Elios slaughtered them instinctively.

Too quickly.

Too violently.

Blood splashed across the walls.

The black flow thickened unnaturally.

His senses sharpened again.

Too much.

Every sound became unbearable.

Every movement too clear.

Every heartbeat too loud.

Pain exploded inside his skull.

"…GHH—!"

Elios grabbed his head violently.

The whispers became louder instantly.

Not outside.

Inside.

The black flow burst outward around him.

Dense black mana flooded the chamber like smoke.

The remaining creatures froze instinctively.

Fear.

Even monsters feared it now.

Elios' vision distorted violently.

The cave walls twisted unnaturally.

The symbols looked alive again.

Moving.

Watching.

Whispering.

And then—

he saw them.

People.

Standing inside the darkness.

Villagers.

His father.

Kael.

Mira.

Elios' eyes widened violently.

"…What…"

Their bodies flickered.

Human.

Goblin.

Human again.

The distortion became unbearable.

Elios staggered backward hard.

"…STOP—!"

The black flow exploded again.

The chamber shook violently.

Pulse erupted uncontrollably around him.

Stone shattered.

Bodies exploded apart.

The tunnel collapsed partially from the force.

But Elios no longer understood what he was attacking.

Everything looked wrong.

The whispers became screams.

Goblin screeches mixed with human voices.

His breathing completely broke.

The black flow covered nearly his entire body now.

His eyes glowed faintly beneath the darkness surrounding him.

Then—

something deeper inside the cave moved.

A massive presence.

The entire tunnel trembled slightly.

Elios slowly lifted his head.

Far below—

two enormous crimson eyes opened within the darkness.

Ancient.

Watching him silently.

And for one horrifying moment—

the presence smiled.

The black flow around Elios reacted violently.

Almost eagerly.

Fear hit Elios instantly.

Real fear.

Not because of the creature.

Because part of him wanted to go deeper.

"…No…"

The whispers consumed everything.

The black flow pulsed once more.

And Elios lost consciousness.

Silence.

Several minutes passed.

Then slowly—

a figure began walking through the destroyed tunnel.

Elios.

But something about him felt wrong now.

The black flow poured endlessly from his body.

His movements were unstable.

His eyes unfocused.

And his breathing sounded uneven beneath the darkness surrounding him.

He walked slowly.

Not deeper into the cave.

Toward the surface.

Toward the village.

End.
