Chapter 125 - Chapter 124 Marriage

Chapter 124 Marriage

A beautiful day unfolded beneath a sky so clear it seemed almost unreal the sun shone brighter than usual, its golden light cascading gently across the land, painting everything in a warm, radiant glow. Birds sang in soft, melodious harmony, their voices weaving through the air like a natural symphony, while a cool, refreshing breeze drifted over the endless stretch of green grass, making it sway like a living sea.

The world itself felt calm… as if it understood the significance of this moment and chose to stand still in quiet reverence.

Today was not just another day.

It was sacred.

It was the day Astrid and I would stand together, bound not just by words, but by heart and soul promising to walk the same path, through every joy and hardship, as partners for life.

Alex stood inside the tent, preparing the clothes he would wear. "Huff… I'm pretty nervous about this," he muttered, looking at himself in the mirror. In his mind, thoughts began to swirl. (Alright, Alex… you're about to officially become the head of a family. You'll carry a great responsibility, stepping onto a new path in life. But… even in my previous life, I never went this far… I'm starting to panic. Can I really do this?)

Suddenly, Alex slapped his own cheeks lightly. "No, Alex… you can do this. Of course you can…" He paused, glancing down at his outfit with uncertainty. "Ugh… did I make this suit too small?"

Alex wore a black suit a style of wedding attire that didn't exist in this era. It was something he had created using knowledge from his previous life, making him stand out even more on this special day.

Outside the tent, many of the invited guests had already arrived. Some were still on their way, traveling from distant places, but that was fine. The event would last all day, ensuring that even those who arrived late wouldn't miss the event.

Alex pointed at his reflection in the mirror. "Okay, Alex… this is the moment. Don't ruin it with your nervousness."

Suddenly, Lucia burst into the tent. "Hey, Papa!"

Alex jumped in surprise. "AH! Lucia, don't scare Papa like that!"

Lucia simply smiled, her eyes shining as she looked at Alex in his neatly tailored black suit. "Wow, Papa, your outfit looks amazing!!!"

Alex couldn't help but feel pleased at her praise. "Of course it does. I made this myself, you know and I might be the only one in the world who has clothes like this."

"But Papa, Mama's dress is just as beautiful," Lucia said excitedly. "You'll see later."

Alex grew even more curious about the gown Astrid had kept secret as a surprise for him. "Ah… I can't wait to see Mama wearing it."

He turned back to the mirror, adjusting his appearance one last time. "Alright, everything looks neat. Now I just need to make sure Astrid is ready too, and then let the priest know we're both prepared for the ceremony."

Alex then looked at Lucia. "Lucia, go ask Mama if she's ready. And if she is, tell the priest at the wedding altar, okay?"

Lucia nodded eagerly. "Alright! Oh, right I'm the one who scatters the flowers while you and Mama walk to the altar, right?"

Alex nodded with a small smile. "Yes, that's right."

Before the wedding began, Alex briefed Priest Maramal on how the ceremony would be conducted, including the rituals that would take place. However, Alex didn't change everything completely he blended the customs of Skyrim with traditions from his previous life, creating a ceremony that was slightly different from both Skyrim's usual practices and those of his former world.

After Alex and Astrid finished their preparations, the priest began a brief speech in front of the witnesses and guests, who were seated neatly around the wedding altar.

"On this sacred day, by the will of the goddess Mara, two kindred souls shall be united…"

The priest delivered a short opening speech, offering praise to the goddess Mara. Then, at the end, he declared,

"…Let the groom step forward and present himself, and await the arrival of his beloved."

A path was made to connect Alex and Astrid's tents, with a long carpet spread out in the middle. After reaching the middle, there was a three-way carpet that led to the wedding altar. The carpet was shaped like a T. On either side of the carpet, rows of chairs had been neatly set for the guests who came to witness the ceremony.

Alex stepped out of his tent, the fabric curtain brushing softly behind him as he emerged into the open. For a brief moment, he paused drawing in a steady breath, as if trying to calm the storm of emotions in his chest. Then, with measured steps, he began walking along the carpet laid before him.

Each step was deliberate, his posture straight yet subtly tense. His hands, though kept at his sides, clenched ever so slightly before relaxing again, betraying the nervous anticipation he tried to hide. His gaze remained forward, but every so often, his eyes flickered taking in the scene, grounding himself in the moment.

When he finally reached the center, he stopped.

For a second, he exhaled quietly, his shoulders easing just a fraction as he lifted his chin, waiting.

Waiting for her.

The moment he appeared, the guests fell into a brief, stunned silence.

Their eyes widened almost in unison, their attention instantly drawn to him. His attire was unlike anything they had ever seen sharp, elegant, and perfectly fitted. The clean lines of his black suit traced his figure flawlessly, giving him an air of refinement and quiet authority that felt both foreign and mesmerizing.

A few guests leaned forward slightly in their seats, as if trying to take a closer look. Others exchanged glances, clearly surprised, their expressions filled with curiosity and admiration.

Then, slowly, the silence broke into whispers.

"Have you ever seen clothing like that…?"

"It's… incredibly refined."

"Such elegance… it almost feels unreal."

The murmurs spread like ripples through the crowd. Some covered their mouths as they spoke, while others nodded in agreement, unable to take their eyes off him.

Among them, several nobles straightened in their seats, their gazes sharpening with interest not just admiration, but calculation. They studied every detail, as if already imagining the influence such fashion could bring. Nearby, a few merchants leaned toward one another, quietly discussing the craftsmanship, their eyes gleaming at the thought of its rarity and potential value.

Yet, despite all the attention, Alex stood there alone at the center of it all.

His heart continued to beat steadily, his eyes now fixed ahead with quiet determination.

Because none of it truly mattered to him.

Not the whispers. Not the stares.

All he was waiting for… was Astrid.

Then Priest Maramal continued, "The groom is present and awaits his bride. Let the bride now step forward and go to her beloved."

Astrid emerged from the tent, the soft fabric parting gently as she stepped into the light. For a fleeting moment, the world seemed to quiet around her as if even the wind and the murmurs of the crowd had stilled in reverence.

The sunlight caught the delicate folds of her flowing white gown, making it shimmer with a soft, ethereal glow. Each step she took was slow and graceful, the hem of her dress brushing lightly against the carpet as if she were gliding rather than walking. Her blonde hair fell beautifully around her shoulders, gently stirred by the breeze, framing her face in a way that made her seem almost otherworldly like an angel who had descended from the heavens.

The moment Alex saw her… he froze.

His breath caught in his throat, his body going completely still. His fingers, which had been subtly tense before, relaxed without him even realizing it. His eyes widened slightly, unable to look away, as if afraid that even blinking would make this vision disappear.

For that brief moment, nothing else existed.

Not the guests. Not the ceremony.

Only her.

The elegance of the long white gown, the purity it symbolized, the way it seemed to belong to her and her alone it all came together in a sight so breathtaking that, in Alex's eyes, she became something more than just beautiful.

She was perfection.

The queen of angels.

And just like that, the nervousness that had been weighing on his chest moments ago… vanished completely, replaced by a quiet warmth and certainty that settled deep within his heart.

Astrid continued walking toward him, her gaze already locked onto his. There was a softness in her eyes, a mix of love, excitement, and a hint of shy anticipation. As she drew closer, her hands lightly gathered a small part of her dress, careful with each step, her movements elegant yet filled with emotion.

When she finally stood before him, they paused.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

They simply looked at each other eyes meeting, emotions passing between them without the need for words. Alex's lips parted slightly, as if he wanted to say something but didn't know where to begin.

Then, leaning in just a little, his voice softened into a whisper meant only for her.

"I must be the luckiest man alive… the queen of angels is about to become my wife."

Astrid's cheeks flushed instantly, a faint pink spreading across her face. She lowered her gaze for a second, her lips curving into a shy smile before she let out a soft, breathy giggle. Her fingers fidgeted slightly against the fabric of her dress, clearly flustered yet unable to hide her happiness.

"Hey…" she murmured gently, glancing back up at him with sparkling eyes. "Come on… focus."

But even as she said that, the warmth in her expression betrayed her own racing heart.

Alex smiled and offered his arm. Astrid gently held onto his elbow, and together they began walking toward the wedding altar. Ahead of them, Lucia led the way, scattering red rose petals along the path. At the same time, the band began to play a beautiful wedding melody, accompanying their steps as they walked side by side until they finally reached the altar.

They finally arrived at the altar, where Alex and Astrid stood facing each other, their eyes locked in a quiet, meaningful gaze.

Priest Maramal then continued, his voice solemn and clear,

"It was Mara who gave birth to all creation and pledged to watch over us as her children. It is from her love for us that we first learn to love one another. It is from this love that we learn that a life lived alone is no life at all. We gather here today, under Mara's loving gaze, to bear witness to the union of two souls in eternal companionship. May they journey forth together in this life and in the next, in prosperity and poverty, and in joy and hardship."

Maramal then turned to Astrid.

"Do you agree to be bound together in love, now and forever?"

Astrid answered softly but firmly, "I do. Now and forever."

Then Maramal looked at Alex.

"Do you agree to be bound together in love, now and forever?"

Alex replied without hesitation, "I do. Now and forever."

Then Priest Maramal raised both of his hands.

"Under the authority of Mara, the Divine of Love, I declare this couple to be wed."

Since Maramal had already blessed the rings belonging to Alex and Astrid beforehand, there was no need for another ring exchange. However, following Alex's suggestion, after declaring them married, the ceremony would be sealed with a kiss.

"Your rings are already united and blessed by Mara," Maramal continued, his voice warm yet solemn as it carried across the altar. "Now, groom… kiss your beloved."

For a brief moment, time seemed to slow.

Alex's eyes softened as they remained locked on Astrid's. His breath grew steady, and his hand lifted ever so slightly, as if he were afraid that moving too quickly might break the fragile perfection of this moment. He wanted to remember everything the way her eyes shimmered, the faint flush on her cheeks, the gentle rise and fall of her breathing.

Carefully, he began to lean in, his movements slow and deliberate, savoring every heartbeat, every inch that brought them closer.

But Astrid…

Astrid couldn't wait any longer.

A sudden surge of emotion overwhelmed her restraint. Before Alex could fully close the distance, she lifted both hands and gently but firmly held his face, her fingers brushing against his cheeks. In one swift, decisive motion, she pulled him toward her and kissed him.

It wasn't hesitant.

It wasn't shy.

It was deep, passionate, and overflowing with everything she felt love, relief, happiness, and the unspoken promise of a future they would share together.

Alex's eyes widened slightly in surprise, a soft breath escaping him at the suddenness of it but only for a fraction of a second.

Then, he melted into it.

His arms moved instinctively, wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer, holding her as if he never wanted to let go. His grip tightened just enough to convey his own emotions steady, protective, and filled with love as he returned the kiss with equal intensity.

Around them, the world came rushing back.

The guests erupted into applause, cheers, and joyful laughter. Some stood from their seats, clapping enthusiastically, while others exchanged delighted smiles, clearly moved by the heartfelt moment unfolding before them. A few even wiped at their eyes, touched by the sincerity of the couple's love.

The music swelled in the background, blending with the sound of celebration, as petals scattered across the ground beneath them.

And in that moment, beneath the open sky and the blessings of Mara, everything was filled with warmth.

The entire wedding was wrapped in an atmosphere of pure happiness… and unwavering love.
