The battle between Mufasa and Oberyn began. Since this was in King's Landing, Mufasa's home turf, many people were there to cheer him on and boost his morale.
This included not only people from House Lannister but also the children from the North Sea Kindergarten. Gendry had brought them along to broaden their horizons.
Besides that, the people from House Tyrell also temporarily stood on Mufasa's side.
Compared to Mufasa, they disliked Oberyn even more.
Mufasa held the rose sword in his hand, along with a valyrian steel shield. Oberyn, on the other hand, held the valyrian steel spear that Mufasa had traded with him earlier.
No one could have expected their relationship to deteriorate so severely.
Mufasa and Oberyn fell into a fierce battle.
Both sides' swordsmanship and spearmanship had reached a very high level.
Both of their weapons had scratched the other's skin.
When she saw the bloodstain scratched onto Mufasa's face by Oberyn's spear, his mistress laughed.
"Mother, what are you laughing at? Father hasn't won yet!" the other Sand Snakes asked.
"Mufasa is a dead man. Oberyn's spear has been coated with potent cobra venom. The harder Mufasa fights, the faster he will die."
During the fight, Mufasa felt a wave of weakness, but because he had injected himself with anti-venom in advance, Mufasa did not fall. He just gritted his teeth and continued to fight.
The Red Viper Oberyn noticed Mufasa's condition, and he said, "Mufasa, surrender. I can make your death quick!"
"You snake, you really do have a venomous tongue! But your toxin isn't very strong, is it?" Mufasa laughed.
Mufasa felt the strength in his body recovering. The snake venom was already being neutralized.
Taking advantage of The Red Viper Oberyn letting his guard down, Mufasa charged directly into close quarters, preventing his spearmanship from unleashing its maximum power.
With a "swish," Mufasa slashed a cut into The Red Viper's neck, and bright red blood flowed down his shoulder.
"Damn it!"
Oberyn clutched his neck and retreated several steps, creating distance between himself and Mufasa.
"Oberyn, surrender. I can leave you with an intact corpse," Mufasa said.
The two sides clashed again, swords and spears trading blows.
Finally, Mufasa used his shield to parry his spear, then thrust his sword into the area near his heart.
Oberyn fell down. He never got up again.
Mufasa raised his longsword to signal to everyone that he had won. At this moment, the High Septon walked over and declared Mufasa innocent.
The Red Viper's body was carted away by the Gold Cloaks. The people from Dorne wanted to reclaim their Prince's body, but Mufasa told them to wait a while longer.
At night, Mufasa and Qyburn arrived at the morgue.
Oberyn's body sat up before the two of them. He first coughed, then touched the wound on his chest.
"Am I dead? Is this the Seven Hells?" Oberyn said. Then he saw Mufasa.
"Mufasa, so you really did die too! How did my snake venom taste? Hahaha!" The Red Viper Oberyn laughed loudly.
Then he tore open the wound at his neck. Under the white gauze, blood began to seep out again.
"It really is a medical miracle, Ser Mufasa," Qyburn said.
"I never knew that the human body actually has an 'immortal knot' located just below the heart."
"The mysteries of the human body are endless, Maester," Mufasa said.
"How can this be? I didn't die, and you're alive too?" Oberyn realized something was wrong. He got off the bed, intending to grab Mufasa by the neck and ask for the truth.
But Maester Qyburn stopped him.
"Your Highness, your body is still very weak. We will bring your family to see you in a while, so please rest here."
Qyburn then began to change Oberyn's dressing.
Two quarters of an hour later, Mufasa brought the Sand Snakes from Dorne over.
"Father!" They were all in disbelief. Oberyn was actually alive again. Was this magic, or necromancy?
"Father, have you really been resurrected? Do you still have your own emotions and consciousness?" Obella asked.
"Although it is miraculous, I don't think Mufasa would dare to turn me into a puppet," Oberyn said.
"News of your death might reach Dorne. You'll have to explain this yourself! However, I hope you know your place and don't come to challenge me again, Oberyn! I can let you off this time, but next time, I won't have such intentions."
After delivering his threat and seeing that they were all somewhat terrified, Mufasa walked out with satisfaction.
"That terrifying lion Mufasa! Look at his golden hair; he is truly a golden lion king!" Oberyn said.
It was from the time Mufasa seemingly killed The Red Viper Oberyn that the people in King's Landing began calling him "golden lion king Mufasa."
Mufasa learned from Joffrey that King Robert had already met with The Onion Knight and had read Stannis's letter, though he had made Eddard Stark read it in front of everyone.
Therefore, everyone who attended the council that day knew that Stannis was actually searching for some lost treasure.
Mace Tyrell was the first to publicly criticize Stannis, saying that he was indulging in idle pursuits and that the man who had defended Storms End had vanished forever.
However, those who were familiar with Stannis felt that something might be wrong! Would Stannis really be such a person?
"The handwriting is fine, Eddard, but this certainly doesn't sound like something he would say. If you don't believe me, ask Renly."
King Robert said this while he and Eddard Stark were out taking a piss.
"Lord Renly doesn't seem to have a good relationship with Lord Stannis?" Eddard asked.
"Doesn't everyone know that? The relationship between us three brothers is poor, especially after I became King." Robert sighed.
"The Targaryen Family says: The dragon has three heads. Aegon, Rhaenys, Visenya."
"But the stag has three heads too: Robert, Stannis, Renly!" Robert said.
"I wonder how many heads the wolf has? Eddard? Five or six?"
When Eddard Stark heard him bring up Jon Snow again, he returned to the Tower of the Hand, feeling quite unhappy.
At night, while the Stark family was eating, Eddard Stark asked where Jon had gone.
"Hasn't he been hanging out with Mufasa ever since he arrived in King's Landing?" Catelyn Tully asked, showing no concern for where Jon Snow was.
"I know where they are. They are at the North Sea Kindergarten outside the city. Today is the day Mufasa knights Ygritte."
At the North Sea Kindergarten, witnessed by many children, Mufasa knighted Ygritte.
"Ygritte, since you don't believe in the Seven, why do you still want to receive the title of knight?" Mufasa asked.
"Just following the local customs! Mufasa, stop talking nonsense and knight me already!" She couldn't wait any longer.
"Kneel! Ygritte!" Mufasa said in a heavy tone.
Ygritte knelt before Mufasa. Mufasa drew his sword and placed it on her left shoulder.
"In the name of the Mother, I charge you to protect all women."
"In the name of the Father, I charge you to defend justice."
"In the name of the Maiden, I charge you to protect all innocent children."
"Now, rise! Ygritte, a knight of Westeros," Mufasa said finally.
