"All teams, attention. Focus on Researcher Goki. Snipers, use paralyzing bullets. Sorcerers, only use binding Spells."
At the entrance of the Structure Department's laboratory, a team of nearly thirty people was on alert, observing the two sides confronting each other dozens of meters away. The captain, leading the team, was giving orders through his earpiece to the members who were gradually surrounding the room.
These capable combatants, from various races, were all fully armed, wearing thick tactical vests suited to their racial characteristics, with lightweight, light-green Rhine Lab charging uniforms underneath for protection. Each person also had a small firearm tucked into their waist.
They had clear divisions of labor. The leader and a few others held equally transparent and sturdy riot shields made of high-strength composite Materials, providing solid cover for the personnel behind them.
And whether they were powerful heavy crossbowmen, sorcerers holding standardized Spell units, or vanguards with Spell glow illuminating their blade tips, all were intently watching their targets, having replaced their pistol ammunition with tranquilizers.
This level of combat power, even within Columbia's Directorate-General Guard, was comparable to that of a special elite unit—
They were the Directorate-General Guard, a private armed force accountable only to the Director.
Unlike the Defense Department, which typically focused on research and was only responsible for experimental safety, these people were not academic high-achievers, but genuine company private soldiers.
They were usually deployed only to handle sudden incidents, external armed intrusions, or to provide security when Rhine Lab conducted technology exhibitions.
When they were deployed, it meant it was no longer a small skirmish, but a real fight.
"But, that's Director Saria. We definitely can't beat her—and that super-strong white-haired girl, that's a new type of alloy that even armor-piercing rounds can't penetrate!"
Beside him, the Vice Captain of the Directorate-General Guard swallowed hard and looked at his captain.
The captain was a tall Vouivre / Wyvern male, but in the past, when he confidently challenged Saria, he was knocked to the ground within a few rounds by this Vouivre / Wyvern female, completely losing the ability to resist.
"We don't have to fight these two monsters, do we, Captain? Do you remember your last time—"
Although those in this line of work had already put their lives on the line, listening to the argument in front of him, the Vice Captain realized that the reason for this conflict... seemed to be Madam Director fighting with Saria over a man?
For them, as employees, to get involved in their superiors' domestic affairs... it felt like a lose-lose situation no matter what they did!
Great Ones were Great Ones; their way of finding a man was just so unique.
"Who knows? Don't bring up my old scores. Do Vouivre / Wyvern women really like pretty boys that much? Don't do anything too out of line, don't hurt anyone. The Director and the other Directors will deal with those two—we just need to pick on the easy targets."
Watching the people in the distance who were about to clash, the captain, a heavy Operator, swallowed and looked at Goki and Kaltsit.
"I heard before that the one named Goki isn't strong in combat, and his Originium Arts are also very ordinary, just simple fire manipulation. Anyone good at ice or water, just keep him frozen—and that Feline woman, restrain both of them first!"
No sooner had the captain finished speaking than he heard the Director's attack order through his earpiece.
"Capture everyone, no harming anyone, especially Goki!"
"Yes, Captain!"
Accompanied by a chorus of replies, the captain of the Directorate-General Guard saw Saria and the Director, dozens of meters away, stomp on the ground.
Boom—
Two figures, accompanied by splashing Spell glow, violently collided, stirring not only the surrounding air but also the troublesome flesh on their chests.
"Saria, you love-struck fool! You'd abandon the future of humanity for a man!"
"Don't label me, Old Director! Goki and I are innocent. I'm only fighting for Ifrit!"
"Then hand him over to me! I'll let you go right now—"
"Get lost!—*Vouivre / Wyvern vulgarity*!"
"And you say you're not love-struck—you repressed woman who uses her power to recruit pretty boys for her own department!"
"Shut up, you old woman who's still pretending to be young at forty! You probably want to prey on younger men."
The two women, similar in stature, pressed their slender yet powerful hands together. Their curved Dragon horns and broken goat horns also clashed with Spell glow, evenly matched.
