Jay pov
After staying two weeks in hospital finally we are going home.
Keifer is better than before.
Kade's fever is also gone but he's disturb because we're living in the hospital for almost 3 weeks.
"Oww.." I was packing our stuff I bought like clothes and all I heard keifer making a sound because Kade slapped him.
"It's becoming your habit, champ" keifer complain.
I laughed softly.
The door busted open.
"Come on leave this place" it was Percy.
"We are going to " keifer replied
I sighed
"Let the doctor come first" I said.
"But I'm fine let's go" keifer said standing up and winced a little.
I walked toward him and carefully took Kade into my arms. "Our son has been practicing wrestling on your stitches for two weeks. Give your poor body a break."
Kade immediately wrapped his little arms around my neck. "Dada."
He stretched his tiny hands toward Keifer again.
Keifer looked at him with complete betrayal. "You just slapped me."
Kade blinked innocently. "...Da."
"You hit me."
Kade smiled. "...Da!"
Percy snorted from the couch. "I think that means, 'I'll do it again.'"
Keifer shot him a flat look. "Don't encourage him."
"I didn't."
"You smiled."
"I absolutely did."
I couldn't help laughing quietly as I folded the last hoodie into the travel bag.
The room finally looked empty.
Three weeks.
It was strange.
This room had become our temporary home. The chair beside Keifer's bed... The couch where Percy somehow managed to sleep every night... The little crib the hospital arranged for Kade... The flowers Mama replaced every few days...
Every corner held memories I never wanted to relive.
The fear.
The prayers.
The tears.
But also...
The moment Keifer opened his eyes.
I looked at him. He was standing near the bed, one hand unconsciously pressing against his ribs. His face had regained some color over the last two weeks. The bruises were fading. Most of the cuts had healed.
His shoulder was still bandaged beneath his shirt, and the doctor had strictly forbidden lifting anything heavy.
Of course...
He had already ignored that rule four different times.
Typical.
A knock sounded.
The door opened. Our doctor walked inside with a tablet in his hand.
"Good morning."
"Morning, doctor," I greeted.
He smiled. "I suppose someone has been asking every nurse every two hours if he's allowed to go home."
Percy immediately pointed at Keifer. "Him."
"I knew it," the doctor chuckled.
Keifer looked completely unapologetic. "I dislike hospitals."
"I noticed."
The doctor walked over, checking Keifer's latest reports. "Let's have one final examination."
Keifer sighed dramatically. "Another one?"
"Yes."
"I've had twenty."
"Twenty-one won't hurt."
Percy folded his arms. "I disagree. It clearly hurts his pride."
I bit my lip to stop smiling.
The doctor checked Keifer's blood pressure. His pulse. His breathing. Asked him to move his shoulder carefully. Then gently pressed around his ribs.
Keifer inhaled sharply.
"There." The doctor nodded. "Still tender."
"I figured."
"You'll continue feeling pain for several weeks."
"I know."
The doctor looked directly at him. "And you are absolutely not returning to work."
Keifer remained silent. "..."
The doctor narrowed his eyes. "You were planning to."
"...Maybe."
"Keifer."
"I only need to sign a few documents."
"No."
"I can work from home."
"No."
"I'll only—"
"No."
Percy looked like Christmas had come early. Finally someone who could shut Keifer down.
I crossed my arms. "I agree with the doctor."
Keifer looked at me. "...Traitor."
"I prefer the term intelligent."
Percy laughed loudly.
The doctor smiled before continuing. "You need another month of recovery."
"Doctor—"
"No negotiations."
"You sound like my wife."
Jay and Percy answered together. "Good."
The doctor laughed. "I'll prepare your discharge papers."
After he left, silence settled over the room.
Keifer looked between Percy and me. "I've been betrayed."
"Correct."
"By my own family."
"Also correct."
He sighed dramatically. "I survived a car accident only to be bullied."
Percy patted his shoulder. "You'll live."
Keifer immediately winced. "...Don't pat me."
"Oh." Percy looked completely innocent. "My bad."
"I'm injured."
"I forgot."
"You did that on purpose."
"I have no proof of such allegations."
I rolled my eyes.
These two.
Honestly.
---
An hour later...
The paperwork was finally complete.
I looked around the room one last time. Everything was packed.
Percy picked up the luggage. "I'll take these."
"I can—"
"No." Percy looked at Keifer. "You touch one bag and I'll tell the doctor."
Keifer looked offended. "You people threaten me a lot."
"Because you don't listen."
"Fair."
I adjusted Kade on my hip. He looked around curiously. No crying today. No fever. No sleepy, glassy eyes.
Just my cheerful little boy again.
Thank God.
Keifer slowly walked beside me. His pace wasn't as confident as usual. He tried hiding the discomfort every time he took a longer step.
But I noticed.
I always noticed.
Without saying anything, I quietly slipped my hand into his.
He looked down. Then at me. His lips curved into the smallest smile. "You worry too much."
"I learned from you."
He chuckled softly. "...Fair enough."
The hospital corridor felt different today. Brighter. Lighter.
People passed by. Doctors. Nurses. Families.
Three weeks ago, I had walked these same halls praying I wouldn't lose my husband.
Today...
We were walking out together.
As we reached the nurses' station, several nurses smiled.
"Take care, Mr. Watson."
"Get plenty of rest."
"No office."
One nurse pointed a finger at him. "We're serious."
Keifer raised both hands in surrender. "I understand."
The moment we turned the corner, Percy whispered, "He's definitely going to work."
"I know."
"We'll hide his laptop."
"I support that idea."
"I heard both of you," Keifer said.
"We know."
"You aren't subtle."
"We're not trying to be."
The elevator doors opened. We stepped inside.
It was quiet.
Kade rested his head on my shoulder, playing sleepily with my necklace.
Keifer stood beside me, his fingers still intertwined with mine.
No words were needed.
Just being together...
Felt enough.
The elevator reached the ground floor.
The doors slid open.
Outside, sunlight poured through the glass entrance.
For the first time in weeks...
It felt warm.
Real.
Hopeful.
As the automatic doors opened and fresh air touched my face, I closed my eyes for a brief second.
Home.
We were finally going home.
---
The moment we stepped outside, warm sunlight brushed against my face.
I closed my eyes for a second.
Fresh air.
I never thought something so ordinary could feel so... comforting. For almost three weeks all I had smelled was antiseptic, medicine, and hospital food. Now there was the scent of trees after the morning watering, fresh air, and the faint aroma of coffee from a nearby café.
It felt like freedom.
I opened my eyes and looked beside me.
Keifer stood quietly, one hand tucked into the pocket of his hoodie while the other remained intertwined with mine. His face tilted slightly upward as if he was enjoying the warmth of the sun too.
For a brief moment...
He looked peaceful.
Not the feared CEO.
Not the ruthless businessman.
Not the man everyone avoided.
Just...
My Keifer.
Percy walked ahead, pushing the luggage trolley with one hand while talking on the phone.
"...Yeah, we're coming down now."
A pause.
"No, don't bring the entire security team."
Another pause.
"I said don't."
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "...Fine."
He hung up and sighed dramatically.
I already knew who that was.
"The security team?" I guessed.
Percy nodded. "They're worried."
Keifer sighed. "They're overreacting."
Percy and I looked at him at the same time.
"You almost died."
"..."
"I think they're reacting appropriately."
Keifer wisely chose not to argue.
A few black luxury SUVs were already waiting outside.
As soon as we appeared, several bodyguards straightened immediately.
"Good morning, Sir."
Keifer simply nodded.
They quickly loaded the luggage into one of the vehicles.
The head of security approached carefully. "Welcome back, Sir."
Keifer gave a small nod. "Thank you."
"You had everyone worried."
"I know."
There wasn't a hint of arrogance in his voice.
Just quiet acknowledgment.
I noticed how every employee looked genuinely relieved to see him standing.
Not because he was their boss.
Because they cared.
Sometimes people only saw the cold side of Keifer. They never saw how he remembered every employee's name, quietly paid for surgeries without telling anyone, funded children's education, or made sure families of injured workers were taken care of.
He never talked about those things.
He just... did them.
One bodyguard opened the rear passenger door.
"You first " keifer said.
"No you sit first " I argued.
"Jay—" keifer stabut Percy cut him off "oh please, just get in. Jay get in" Percy said pushing me in the car
"Hey. " I protested but I was already inside the car and Kade on my lap.
"Now you go" Percy said and helped keifer to get in the car.
"You're unfair " I muttered giving him side eye.
"Only When necessary" he said kissing my temple.
And just like that my annoyance disappear.
Kade leaned against the window looking out at the city.
We stayed in silence.
I glanced at keifer his eyes were close his head leaning back on the seat.
Not sleeping just resting... because I somehow know.
I gently reached out and brushed the lock of hair away from his face.
His eyes open.
And he smiled tiredly.
I smiled to kissed his cheek.
"I'm gladw that you are healthy and here with me" I whispered
"I could never be anywhere else" he said and kissed me.

Sorry guys for making you wait so much.
I'm trying to give you chapter for previous days but I couldn't because of somethings.
I'll try to be regular and I'm thinking to finish this book.
What do you think?
