Chapter 56 - CHAPTER 56 - CLASH OF LIMITS

The arena no longer felt like a place for training. What stood in the center now was something closer to a real battlefield, where every movement carried weight and every mistake could end everything. The air itself felt tighter as Yura and Seiyan continued their exchange, their weapons colliding again and again with sharp, echoing impacts that refused to slow down.

Yura stepped in with precision, her dual blades cutting through the space between them in a clean, controlled pattern. Her movements had become sharper than before, each strike calculated not just to hit, but to force Seiyan into a position where he had no choice but to react. She wasn't just fighting anymore. She was controlling the rhythm.

Seiyan answered immediately.

His body shifted with unnatural speed, Joyeuse flashing as he blocked and redirected her attacks with efficiency that matched her own. The strength behind his blade became more evident now, each clash sending small shockwaves through the ground beneath their feet. The more they fought, the more it became clear this wasn't a simple difference in power.

This was a collision of styles.

"…You're still keeping up," Seiyan said, his voice slightly heavier now as he pushed her back with a sudden burst of force. His blade struck harder this time, forcing Yura to slide back a few steps before stabilizing her stance again.

Yura didn't respond.

Her breathing had grown slightly heavier, but her eyes stayed sharp, locked onto him without hesitation. The poison effect from earlier hadn't disappeared. It lingered, subtle but present, slowing her reactions just enough to matter in a fight like this.

Still-

She moved forward again.

Her blades crossed briefly before separating into two different angles, one aimed high, the other low. Seiyan blocked the first, but the second forced him to twist his body just enough to avoid a direct hit. The movement disrupted his balance for a split second.

That was enough.

Yura stepped in closer.

Her elbow struck forward.

Seiyan reacted quickly, bringing his arm up to block, but the impact still forced him back slightly. His footing slipped for just a moment before he regained control, his expression shifting from confidence to focus.

"…So you can fight up close too," he muttered.

Yura's voice came quietly.

"I don't rely on distance."

She didn't wait.

She pressed again, her attacks coming faster now, her blades moving in tighter arcs as she forced him into a defensive rhythm. The pace increased, their movements blurring slightly as both of them pushed beyond what they had shown earlier.

From the stands, the tension broke into loud reactions.

"This is crazy…"

"They're both getting faster!"

"They're not even holding back anymore!"

Kairo leaned forward slightly despite the pain in his body, his eyes fixed on the fight. "…She's not slowing down," he said quietly.

Tyouro grinned. "Nah. She's speeding up."

Back in the arena, Seiyan exhaled sharply as he stepped back again, creating distance for a brief moment. His grip on Joyeuse tightened slightly, his body adjusting as he analyzed the situation more seriously now.

"…You're different than I thought," he admitted.

Yura didn't lower her weapon.

"…And you talk less now."

That earned a small smirk from him.

"…Guess I do."

He stepped forward again but this time, something changed.

His speed increased again.

Not just slightly.

Noticeably.

Joyeuse flashed through the air as he attacked in rapid succession, his movements more aggressive than before. Each strike carried both speed and weight, forcing Yura to block repeatedly as the pressure intensified.

The Joyeuse blade is designed not just for attack, but for sustained combat. Its ability to maintain speed without heavily draining stamina allows its user to increase pressure over time, forcing opponents into exhaustion.

Seiyan's attacks didn't stop.

They layered.

One after another.

Relentless.

Yura's stance held, her blades intercepting each strike with precision, but the strain was building now. The poison effect continued to interfere slightly, her muscles responding just a fraction slower than before.

Seiyan saw it.

"…You're slowing down," he said, stepping in with another strike that forced her back.

Yura slid across the ground before stopping herself, her breathing heavier now, but her eyes still focused.

"…Not enough."

She moved again.

This time-

Faster.

Her body pushed forward with everything she had left, her dual blades moving in a tighter, more aggressive pattern. The hesitation from earlier was gone. Every strike carried intent, forcing Seiyan to shift from offense to defense as the momentum changed once again.

Their weapons clashed violently, sparks flying as the sound echoed across the arena. The impact of each strike became heavier, both of them putting more into every movement.

Seiyan blocked but his arm trembled slightly from the force.

Yura stepped in again, her blade cutting across at an angle that forced him to retreat further than before.

"…You're not the only one pushing," she said quietly.

Seiyan exhaled, his smirk returning but weaker now.

"…Good."

He rushed forward again.

Their clash became even more intense, both of them now fully engaged, neither holding anything back. Speed, strength, control it all collided in the center of the arena as they pushed each other beyond their limits.

Yura's stamina remained strong, her movements still precise despite the strain, while Seiyan's efficiency kept him in the fight without losing pace. Every second that passed made it harder for either of them to gain a clear advantage.

The ground beneath them cracked further.

The air around them felt heavier.

This was no longer a match.

It was a test of who would break first.

Yura blocked another strike, her arms absorbing the impact before she countered immediately. Seiyan stepped back, then forward again, refusing to give her the opening she was looking for.

Both of them were breathing harder now.

Both of them were feeling it.

"…You're still standing," Seiyan said, his voice lower now.

Yura's response came without hesitation.

"So are you."

They didn't smile.

They didn't relax.

They simply stepped forward again.

Because neither of them-

Was ready to lose.
