Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Courtyard Chaos

The sun hung high over Reikosha Academy, warming the broken courtyard that had been restored just yesterday. Kairo adjusted the bandages on his neck, rubbing at the faint sting from his last spar. He sighed today promised more chaos, he could feel it.

"Alright, Kairo! No hiding this time!" Tyouro shouted, energy crackling around his fists. He bounced a small sphere of Reikou energy between his palms like a ball of fire.

Kairo groaned but lunged anyway. The sphere shot past him, barely caught, and exploded in a harmless puff of sparks. "Man… you've been practicing!" he said, brushing himself off.

"Of course," Tyouro grinned. "Real warriors never stop."

Nearby, Yura had perched herself on a low wall, white ponytail swaying lazily. "You two are ridiculous," she muttered, though her slight smile betrayed her amusement. "Stop embarrassing yourselves."

From the shadowed training hall, Lyric Selene flipped through the air gracefully, landing in front of Kimimaru. "C'mon, Kimimaru, show us how it's done. Don't let me have all the fun."

Kimimaru didn't move a muscle. "You all waste energy. Observing is better than flailing," he said, though the faint smirk at the corner of his mouth hinted he was enjoying the show.

Suddenly, Tyouro threw the energy sphere at Kimimaru. The sphere bounced off his arm harmlessly, leaving a tiny shimmer in its wake. "Pathetic," Kimimaru muttered. Tyouro threw a mock salute. "Yes, master of coolness."

Meanwhile, in the nearby sparring arena, two other students Myrrh and Thalric had set up a mini duel. Myrrh, a sprightly girl with lightning-fast movements, darted around Thalric, striking with precise energy bursts. Thalric grinned and deflected, sparks flying. "Not bad, but can you handle this?" He launched a sudden burst, forcing Myrrh to somersault backward.

Across the courtyard, Kairo finally landed a decent strike on Tyouro, sending him tumbling into a fountain with a splash. "Gotcha!" Kairo shouted, triumphant.

"You're lucky it's water," Tyouro sputtered, climbing out and shaking his soaked hair. "Next time, I won't go easy."

Yura rolled her eyes again, muttering under her breath. "Imbeciles…" She hopped down and joined the arena, using her precise strikes to lightly push Kairo and Tyouro to their limits. Sparks of Hikari and Reikou danced in the air.

Kimimaru finally decided to join the fray, walking slowly into the arena, holding nothing yet his presence made the others tense. "Don't think I'll hold back," he said simply. A faint aura shimmered around him, enough to make even Tyouro pause.

By mid-morning, the courtyard had transformed into a lively maze of mini-fights:

Kairo and Tyouro practicing flashy attacks and counters.

Yura darting between them, correcting mistakes with sharp precision.

Lyric teasing and dodging everyone's strikes.

Kimimaru observing, then intervening with precise, calm strikes that left the others impressed and exhausted.

Myrrh and Thalric continuing their duel in the arena, sparks of energy colliding like fireworks.

Amidst all this chaos, Shougo appeared again, hands behind his back. "Enough… or we'll all end up bruised and wet. Training is about control, not just energy. Focus on precision and timing, not raw strength."

Kairo panted, sweat dripping down his face. "Yes, Sensei…"

Tyouro nudged him. "Come on, Kairo, don't let the master embarrass us. We still have skills to show."

Yura gave a small grin. "Some of you are hopeless… but at least you're improving."

By the time the sun began to tilt west, the students had learned, laughed, and tested the boundaries of their powers. The courtyard was a mess, but the air was alive with camaraderie, teasing, and the electric thrill of energy.

Even in small fights, small pranks, and friendly rivalry, the bonds between them strengthened. And far away, hidden in the edges of the academy, a figure watched silently a spark of curiosity and interest in their growing power, foreshadowing challenges yet to come.
