Chapter 71 - Chapter 69: Sylvie Seraphim (1)

Eunji opened her dorm room as she allowed Ha-Eun and Jinah to get in since Sylvie had told her that the two were gonna visit for their study session then hang out later although they would stay longer than usual since classes started in the afternoon due to the headmaster's announcement regarding of a certain incident that just happened recently.

The strawberry blonde couldn't tell Sylvie's current mood and mind set especially with the massive change that Rei had shown since the magenta haired girl was glowing more than usual as if something was unleashed when she had met up with the latter.

"You are looking much lively than usual…" Eunji uttered as Sylvie was startled while Jinah added, "Yeah, I noticed that you look like you are glowing bright than before."

Sylvie chuckled as she scratched the back of her head, "Really? Well… I think it's just I'm happy that I'm able to be with Rei since I haven't seen him for so long during the work study."

Eunji looked like she wasn't gonna ask any more questions since she had no clue whether Sylvie or Rei were just close friends with one sided crush or those who haven't even confessed to each other yet however Rinka was the one who broke their thought process when she came into living room and appeared to be just only woken up by now.

"Is Rei here?" She asked outloud as Eunji answered no before the orange brown hair girl was confused before scratching her nose, "That's weird… I could smell him… Did my passive mess me up again?"

Her uttered question while heading to the bathroom had put almost everyone silent as Sylvie blushed while the rest were just dumbfounded with one single thought in their head.

"They act like friends… Yet have done this type of things… Is it a hidden relationship or WHAT?!" They all thought to themselves while Sylvie was still flustered from Rinka's question.

Eunji shook her head, wanting to get answers as she couldn't just ignore the question that was going over her head. "Hey, Sylvie." She called out as Sylvie responded immediately with a shriek before looking at her direction, "Are you and Rei a thing or what?" Eunji asked as the magenta haired girl thought for a moment probably from trying to make an answer understandable but gave up completely since her relationship or situationship with him are just borderline hook-up buddies not close friends.

"We're b-best friends…" Sylvie answered before uttering weakly, "with benefits…"

Eunji was satisfied with the answer to her question as she could now no longer ask herself during her random moments of thinking things randomly that are either logical or illogical.

Ha-Eun, on the other hand, was having a breakdown to herself internally. Squealing and fangirling internally as she knew that there was something with Rei and Sylvie but could not have the chance to prove it especially after the day she caught him and the magenta haired girl making out in the library while she was going there with Keitaro.

Jinah looked confused at Ha-Eun but didn't questioned it as she immediately grinned and started to tease Sylvie. "How naughty ~ So, is he good in bed then?" She asked with a cheeky grin as Sylvie was flustered by her bold question while Ha-Eun was eager to hear the details as her romance shipping instincts was running wild.

Meanwhile, Eunji and Rinka who were supposed to prepare brunch had stopped their preparation as they were listening from the corridors. Both were eager to hear the tea coming from their juniors since gossips in the academy were both interesting and entertaining to them especially when they both have nothing to do other than to study, work or train.

The magenta haired girl was flustered but had immediately succumbed under zero pressure as she had answered Jinah's question with subtle implications of how Rei performed with it.

Both brown hair and black haired girls blushing with Sylvie's answer while Rinka and Eunji were just amused with the situation especially with how flustered Sylvie was in contrast to her usual nonchalant attitude from earlier months that they've been with her.

"Anyways! How did you guys meet?" Ha-Eun asked after calming herself down from Sylvie's answer, Jinah also interested with how the now famous male from having a bad reputation to a somewhat respected figure had met the magenta haired girl.

The entire situation reminded Sylvie of how Hinata and Erika would ask her questions like this except for her intimate life and moment but it gave her a sense of comfort that the friends that she had made now was all because of Rei helping her to open up despite of her nonchalant and easy-going personality.

"It's a long story. I'm sure I can tell y'all everything before class even starts." Sylvie chuckled as they laughed together while Eunji smiled softly at their interaction, resuming back to her duties while Rinka immediately finished her part before heading back to her room probably to get her things ready for class later.

...…

Sylvie's earlier memories that she could remember the most was living with her abusive father who had divorced her mother due to miscommunications and ego with the latter being higher ranked than him which led her to live in UK due to his insistance of having a perfect life.

She wouldn't the person that the people who are friends with her would know if she haven't met Rei that day. The nonchalant, chill and easy going attitude then the relaxed personality of someone who finds everything boring aside from pursuing her career, training and the passion for playing games.

Sylvie used to be strict, professional and cold when she still lived with her father, her early childhood with the man who's supposed to be her guardian had verbally abused her while forcing her to become what he wanted.

A perfect figure.

A perfect daughter who belonged to the father who raised her with blood, tears and sweat that worked hard for her.

In her early childhood, she was already smart as she had always gotten a perfect score which made her fellow peers unhappy and jealous towards her. Then her awakening status along with a powerful prowess that she inherited from her mother although the father saw it as an advantage to shape her to obey him so that she wouldn't dare to lay a hand.

Her prowess wasn't always that powerful at the beginning since she could only use it for a temporary moment to slow things down or to rewind any injuries from the past five seconds. Everything was going well when she reached the status of a mid-tier that made things both tolerable towards her father's abuse and the people who ridiculed her for her perfect figure.

It was all stressful until her middle school found out about it before reporting it to the authorities which ended up having his child custody being revoked while her mother had immediately took custody as the words that she kept sprouting out still echoes through her head.

"I should've fought harder… I'm sorry… Please forgive me for making you endure this for so long…"

Sylvie understood it when she was thirteen years old after months of therapy which ended up helping her recover except for the same behaviour that she couldn't get rid of. The presence of failure and the need of being at the top.

Her mother tried everything to support her, even her sister who barely knew her was jealous of the treatment but immediately understood the abuse that Sylvie had endured as she grew protective of her.

Whenever there were any boys around, her elder sister would always shield her from them as they didn't want her to relapse and suddenly remember the horrors of the abuse that she went through especially in a environment with most statistics of males using their prowess to show their presence.

One day, Sylvie had achieved the status of a god-tier through immense training from a recommended female specialist who specialised in finding an awakener's potential max level. Her perfect figure added with her powerful god-tier prowess had made her almost invincible which led her family to move in Hong Kong for Sylvie's views of academic challenges or anything that revolves with her career.

It didn't made sense but was glad to be able to study with a different environment that made her wanted to be at the top despite of her nationality and being able to understand Chinese language. While she was always at the spotlight of being the best, the pressure of someone like her always being expected by others to be always perfect although she never noticed her family's attempt to soften her up and to make her stop from doing it.

There were days that she was so burned out yet was eager to do her best despite her family requesting the school for Sylvie to take a break due to her condition. She never rests except for sleep and free time whenever she had catched up with her studies when there's nothing else to do other than to draw or to watch videos for academic career.

That is until the day she met him. An enigma who entered Sir Ellis Kadoorie High.

A 'blank' who didn't care anything about the hierarchy.

Someone who made her feel inferior, humbled and infuriated especially when she had done everything to be the perfect figure throughout her whole life.
