"It's your fault."
Rei clenched his fists, trying his best to ignore the words in his head but failed hard as more of the same negative things that were either said to him or happened to him kept on replaying.
The most replayed memories were from his middle school, two to three people being brutally beaten up by him while begging for him to stop but he didn't.
"Please! Stop! You're hurting us!"
Rei felt his tears running down his cheeks non stop as he clenched his head, sobbing as tried to push all of the memories down but another one resurfaced. The incident in Sir Ellis Kadoorie High when he snapped and started to fight back without holding back, resulting in sending half of his school to the hospital once or thrice a week.
"Problem child."
The male felt his throat become sore from his cries, the quiet sobbing becoming a bit loud as he couldn't contain his grief, sadness and anger. For everything that has happened, he could only conclude that all of these events were his own fault.
Sylvie's words for reassuring him, his therapy and the people who supported him started to disappear in his head as the only thing that he continued to run his mind over and over again was the bad things throughout his entire life.
"Late bloomers are destined to fail."
Rei snapped, his breathing uneven as even the ancient being that was talking to him through their mental link wasn't audible to him.
The male couldn't even tell if everything that he has gone through now was just a dream or a simulation that he had to end.
The voice in his head became louder and louder, it wasn't even the bad memories that were talking to him. It was himself, the one that had so much regret and anger for himself as Rei listened to the voice without any hesitation anymore.
It was the voice that managed to keep him alive while also desiring for death to end all of his suffering or to end the pain that he was giving to people. After all, someone like him should've just ended it all rather than desperately fighting.
"Kill yourself."
He looked for whatever the sharpest thing that he could find in the room. There was nothing which didn't stop the male from getting what he wanted, punching the window of the infirmary as glass shattered from his punch.
The stinging pain as he held on to the sharp edges that was left before snapping it to use as a knife.
"You're a monster."
Rei slowly cut deep into his arm, blood spilling onto the floor as his numbness had detached him from the sensations of what he was doing.
"You won't matter."
Instead of cutting, he stabbed himself into his guts as he twisted the glass before pulling it out. The next was his chest, the sharp end ready to go.
"Why live when all you did is to hurt and destroy things?"
He powered himself up temporarily before jabbing it, burying it temporarily before struggling to pull it out as Rei felt himself getting weaker but he wasn't done yet.
"Finish the job properly this time."
"You are a waste of space…"
Rei sliced his neck from ear to ear, leaving no choice of surviving but didn't count the fact that the ancient being within him was already doing everything that it could to stabilise him.
...…
"This damn brat. He really just did this where his body is barely surviving and still adjusting to my presence…" The ancient being muttered to himself, putting his spiritual energy to heal the brat while stabilising him at the same time but Rei's body was still adjusting to its presence as they couldn't heal him to recover.
The 'Fallen' sighed, "Damnit… This better be worth…" they muttered before letting their spiritual energy leak out of Rei's body, doing everything to both stabilise him and alert the sorceress that they knew who would arrive immediately.
...…
Eunji was dumbfounded at the sight, she saw Rei as someone who was strong and held a heavy burden yet continued to push forward but this was something that had caught her off guard.
"Damnit… Did he bottle everything up til now?" The strawberry blonde thought to herself as she ripped a part of the curtains from where the latter was laying against, strapping it as hard as she could to prevent him from losing more blood.
The sorceress had no time to lose as she activated her prowess to look for further injuries but she was even more shocked upon finding more on his neck then the stab wounds on the middle of his chest and his guts.
It was something ridiculous with the way how Rei managed to get all of it done especially when he was bleeding out of the fact that something like this was impossible to do in one go.
"Eunji! Status?!" Eri called out as she immediately went in before using her prowess to start the treatment while Elliot stood shocked outside while Rinka had already sprinted out to go to the headmaster's office to report the situation.
"Stable but I assume he's dropping almost immediately if you didn't arrive soon or if the 'Fallen' didn't bother to continue healing him." Eunji answered as both females were able to feel the ancient being's energy flowing through Rei's body naturally after the strawberry blonde and Eri's assistance.
"Kid. Don't you give up on us right now. Sylvie needs you the most, I can't deliver her the news of you dying… Not right after the two of you had gone through recently…" Elliot muttered as he started to apply his treatment to Rei, his voice breaking while tears went down his face.
His heart was broken from seeing the male in such a state. Elliot had gotten used to seeing Rei either grumpy from the day revealed his true power or the naive one when the latter still acted as a 'blank'.
"Please… Please…" Elliot uttered weakly as he did everything to keep Rei alive.
...…
Four days later…
The Academy's atmosphere was gloomy and intense, especially to the student who wanted Rei to die but had heard that the latter had survived. Why was everything gloomy when the headmaster should've let them celebrate for the vessel's near death?
All of them stood in the large hall of the institute, wondering why the headmaster had gathered them all including the staff. "My students… I apologise for calling all of you for today." Sho said but his voice was borderline anger and sadness.
"I have come to tell the news that Haruki Nakamura, Erika Delilah and Hinata Hayasaka of Kamigami Academy's fifth year students. They have passed away." He said, letting silence fill the room with some mourning for them while others are mocking them quietly due to staying around with Rei.
"Four days ago, we have almost lost one of our student from suicide. Rei Nishimura had tried to take his own life." Sho stated in which filled the hall with both hate and empathetic comments.
However, one unlucky student had managed to let a word out which had put them all in a tight spot.
"As if he's that important."
The atmosphere immediately was filled with death which had some of the students and staff falling on their knees, fainting or breathing heavily.
"Is that so?" Sho uttered as he glared at every student before continuing, "I stood as the headmaster and had studied in the academy for years. This six to seven years of being the headmaster has given me insight for all of you."
"A bunch of brats that can't stand on their own foot without crying too much for attention before complaining about unfairness when they haven't done a single thing to improve themselves." Sho stated before shutting someone up as he used his prowess to make them slam hard onto the floor.
"And for all of your complains for favoring Rei Nishimura. He had potential to surpass his limits. Records that I found for someone to grew from 1.0 to 7.0 under a year in Hong Kong for training with their prowess yet all of you still struggle to grow strong all because of the privilege that you expected to have rather than working for it." Sho said as he gritted his teeth before shouting loudly which had people looking down in shame and disappointment.
"All of you are lucky enough that he is alive. If he was dead, then the 'Fallen' would've incarnated again with a different vessel or anyone nearby to possess with their leaking energy."
His statement had put every single student ina chokehold, both regretting and shameful of their actions to follow what everyone had been doing.
"You are all suspended for two months! Every activity that all of you have planned will be monitored closely. Online classes will be conducted to you or premade classes from videos for every of you to use. Now. Dismiss and make your worth before I start expelling every single one of you!"
People didn't hesitate to rush out of the hall as they went to get their own things, trying their best to stay on the headmaster's good side.
...…
Sylvie stayed at Eunji and Rinka's dorm, sitting on the couch with a large eye bag under her eyes which was clearly an indication of her losing sleep. Her slim and petite weight had reduced almost instantly to being skinny where her bones are almost visible.
"Sylvie. You gotta eat…" Eunji said softly as she placed a freshly made soup while replacing the old one that hadn't even been touched yet.
"I know things are hard for you but you gotta stay strong. Especially for him." The strawberry blonde uttered before leaving her all alone while Rinka stayed behind to watch over.
Rei's suicide incident had spiralled the academy's atmosphere. Some had hope for him to get back so that they could start things over again and redeem themselves…
