The preliminary match for the blue team were not as intense as the one they had from the capture the flag since there were students who already dominated the match despite being a team effort play. The preliminary match consisted of 10 teams with 5 members which goal was at least a hundred points to win the match by stealing the other teams armbands or generally picking up the marbles spread out over the field which consisted of a single point while stealing the other's armbands were around 50 points.
Just like what Rei had expected, Haru dominated the match as his team managed to get rid of 5 other teams prior to the latter's petty defeat and having 300 points.
"Man… I feel bad for them but the others are impressive. Especially that guy." Rei thought to himself as he observed the blue wavy haired Japanese male with the same eyes as Haru. "His spiritual energy control looks like it's lacking since that prowess he's using seems to be way too controlled or being held back…" The blue flames similar to a Japanese mythology of a fox fire blasting through each competitor as the male's team won after securing their spot, claiming the second place for their team.
It was no doubt that the male was strong since the aura emitted a powerful presence over their attack and prowess itself. "If he's holding back. I wonder if I'm able to beat that guy…" Rei thought to himself since fighting someone with a powerful passive ability while not activating their prowess would be too difficult for him since his own passive ability only boosts his base attributes to a degree while his senses heightening further.
The copycat immediately went to give Sylvie attention since the magenta haired girl was talking a lot regarding of what are their plans for the second match.
Sylvie was discussing about how she would try to end the match as quick as possible with a powerful blow since she didn't wanna drag the match for too long especially when her prowess drains a lot of spiritual energy.
"You reckon I could one-shot them?" She asked Rei as the latter thought for a moment before answering her, "Probably if they don't have anything that defies the law of your prowess… Maybe Haru since the guy is a walking flamethrower."
His answer was valid since most of their classmates and schoolmates were just either basic low-tiers and mid-tiers or average low-tiers and mid-tiers, either way, it was an instant win if she manages to hit them hard enough.
"Oh. It's your match first?" Sylvie said as the board showed Rei's name and another person's name.

"Looks like I'm up. See you later." He said to the group since Haruki, Hinata and Erika had just got back from getting some snacks, they were late since the line was probably long.
Before Rei left Erika called out to him and warned him,
"Don't look into his eyes." She said in which the copycat nodded his head before heading to his fight.

Rei felt the intense atmosphere upon reaching the stage as the person with brown hair stood proud and confident. "Are both contestants ready?" Eto asked as both makes nodded their head as the green haired woman left the stage to let them proceed. "Begin!"
There were cheers in which he ignored since Rei had no clue what prowess does the guy possess, activating his own to heighten his sense whether there was some sort of sneaky attacks but found nothing.
Niel activated his prowess as his eye glowed, his aura didn't seem to be powerful but Rei still took Erika's warning as he avoided the male's gaze. Although, his focus would be broken by the latter's statement.
"You know. That girl? The girl always with you? She looks fine as hell. I wonder how she taste like. You mind if I have a taste?"
It was shameful as he responded back but didn't meet his gaze, slowly approaching him. "You got guts for talking about her like that. Especially when she's a god-tier and her friend a god-tier that's about to beat your ass!"
Rei could feel a slight anger in him rising, trying his best not to remember the taunts of his former school regarding of Sylvie's overall appearance and their fantasies with her.
"I know. It's a damn shame that I can't breed her like a slxt that she is, especially after that performance." Niel grinned, noticing Rei's glowing gaze meeting his.
"You fxcker! I'll-" Rei didn't got to finish his sentence, his body went stiff as his prowess stayed idle.
"I win." Niel said confidently, "Now leave the stage and forfeit." He commanded as Rei struggled to break out of the male's control.
"Damnit… Of all the things that I'll lose from… This is how I lose?" Rei grumbled in his head, not having any control of his body.
Suddenly, Rei's body stopped, as if it had resisted the control that Niel had over him. "Wha-" Niel got his sentence interrupted as his vision went from seeing Rei to seeing a place that was dark and dim red lights.
"How interesting."
A deep voice startled him as he turned around, a figure with a powerful presence that spoke out authority. "A mind control that not only it involves hold over the user's body but also the soul. Too bad I'm inhabiting this body too." The figure with a golden yellow eyes said while almost staring at his soul which startled him, "I'll forgive you since your interesting but I'll only warn you once. Not twice."
Niel felt every part of his body trembling from the powerful presence of the figure.
"Know your place. Worthless fool."

Meanwhile, Rei felt something weird as his spiritual energy went havoc, it wasn't like the one he felt from the ancient being when he got possessed but this one was his own. Every ounce of spiritual energy he had in his tank managed to overwhelm Niel's control over him as he took a step back away from the boundaries of the ring.
Avoiding his inevitable loss at the last second, he immediately looked over his shoulders as Niel shuddered from the latter's glowing red orbs that was glaring right into his soul. He was still recovering his fear from what he had saw before but had to focus since Rei was already charging at him.
"You damn bastard! You dare to control me after taunting my best friend like that?! You utter piece of shxt" Rei shouted as he punched the guy right in the guts, their eyes turned white probably going unconscious but the latter wasn't finish as he grabbed them by the collar of their clothes before landing a knee hit in the same place as Rei threw the guy out of the boundaries, securing his victory as the spectators grew loud over his performance.
His breath was uneven, his rage still boiling despite winning the match and lastly, the small burst of relapse kicking slowly as Rei was leaning more to just beat the guy to a pulp until he looked over to the spectators side and saw Sylvie's face.
Her face looked to be proud of his victory although the conversations that happened between him and Niel were never heard since they were far away except for the broadcast although their conversation never got picked up probably from censorship of privacy.
"Right… I made it this far…" Rei uttered to himself as he deactivated his prowess, his rage and negative emotions fading away as he left the stage to reunite with his friends.
"Guess I still have a lot to keep improving myself at…"
He smiled to himself as Rei wondered if there would be a day he could finally achieve what he wanted before his inevitable fate as the vessel to the ancient being within him.
