Had organized it quietly and completely while Lance was dealing with everything else.
Had put his name on it and told him he could keep it when the contract ended and then sat in his study and smiled and said focus on your graduation like any of this was simple.
Lance set his duffle bag down on the floor.
He stood there in the middle of his new apartment that he hadn't asked for in a building he felt too small for and looked out at the city waking up through the window.
He exhaled slowly.
"Okay," he said quietly.
To himself.
To the apartment.
To nobody in particular actually.

Two months later
In the grand scheme of things, two months was nothing.
Sixty something days.
A season change.
The time it took for a potted plant to either thrive or give up entirely depending on who was watering it.
