"I don't want to rush up and ask questions when Yvonne Rhodes is present," Evelyn's voice was very soft, and there was no extra brightness in her amber eyes, "it would make me look like a shrew."
"Young Madam..."
"I don't need sympathy or pity." Evelyn gave Yvette a gentle smile and continued, "Do me a favor, okay?"
Yvette responded, "You say."
"We are both women. Can you stand on my side and help me, instead of standing on Uncle's side... and monitoring me?" Evelyn asked quietly.
"You misunderstand." Yvette shook her head, "My role is not to monitor, but to protect."
"If it's just protection, then it's only about ensuring my safety, not reporting to Uncle about where I go, what I do, and what happens, right?" Evelyn questioned.
Yvette was taken aback, realizing that she had fallen into Evelyn's trap.
