Listening to Evelyn's plea, Aunt May sighed heavily, looking troubled.
She knew Evelyn had always wanted to meet Mr. Keaton, but some things were beyond her control.
"Young Madam," Aunt May said helplessly, "actually, there's no need for you to be so hung up on Mr. Keaton's refusal to meet you. It's enough that he knows you're doing well."
"But saying 'thank you' in person is basic courtesy, isn't it?" Evelyn countered. "I don't understand, is meeting me really such a difficult thing for him? Otherwise, he could just take some time out, come out for a meal, it seems so casual!"
Evelyn's tone was soft and sticky, her heart filled with deep disappointment.
She wanted to try one more time.
Hoping Aunt May would tell her something about her big brother.
"Please!" Evelyn looked at Aunt May, "Even a tiny bit of news would be wonderful!"
Seeing the longing in Evelyn's eyes, Aunt May couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.
