Malachi Arcanus squatted beside them, his eyes shining as he watched. Suddenly, he snatched the stick: "Is this groove for the firewood?"
"Looks like you're pretty smart too."
Luna grinned at him, reaching over to ruffle his messy hair.
Malachi turned red from the compliment, suddenly embarrassed, just about to say something.
Jade squeezed in, a hint of jealousy flashing in her emerald eyes. "Let's get back to business."
She quickly pulled her hand back and cleared her throat, continuing, "The furnace needs two layers inside: fire at the bottom, ore and charcoal on top. When it gets hot enough, the molten iron flows out from the bottom."
She drew a slanted groove: "The molten iron will flow along here into the molds, and once it cools, you get iron ingots."
Corbin Crowley's silver eyes flickered as he zeroed in on the key point: "How do we control the temperature?"
"That's easy."
