__________
[Blank: So nobody's heard hide or hair of Ophis all day?]
[Lolimancer: Nope, we've been pinging her since the mission showed up but nothing at all.]
[Last Master: So…are we gonna wait? It has a time limit.]
[Ass Destroyer: What for? It says we can pull from the mission if it gets too dangerous. We should just do it, only she is missing anyway.]
The mission appears as such.
[New Mission!]
[An anomalous event is about to occur in a world in this sector. An event that was supposed to be solved by that world's fated ones has been altered due to the intervention of an outer god. It is far beyond the scope of anything anyone in that region can handle and if it is not cleared many people important to the fated one's journey will die.
The outer god does not seem to be directly trying to destroy that universe's shielding. Due to this, if you feel your life is in danger you can exit the mission by simply saying exit with the intent to leave the mission. However, by doing this your rewards are forfeit.
Participation rewards: Random magic from the world, random divine sword without usage costs, 40,000 EP.
Contribution rewards: Bonus EP, ???.
Failure: Destruction of many villages, and several cities.
Time limit: 1 day, 2 hours, 5 seconds.]
That was the mission screen they'd stared at for quite some time now.
[Not a bad Slime: I think we should do it, we don't really lose anything for it either. If we don't do it, we get nothing, if we do it, we get something or nothing.]
[Galactic Baseballer: I think so too.]
[Last Master: Me too]
[Ugly Squid: Even if we can't beat them all we should at least be able to help a little.]
[Ass destroyer: So everyone agrees then?]
[Blank: I guess.]
[Lolimancer: Sure, sure, I haven't been able to actually use the stuff I got very much without being noticed. This is a prime opportunity.]
Since they were all in agreement they selected the mission and agreed to participate. And in that instant, they all appeared from their own individual portals just outside a large forest.
All 7 of them sat down and almost immediately noticed the large group of humans that were staring at them.
"They're not the enemy right? I don't think I can kill this many humans." Sora said with a grimace.
Rimuru shook his head, "Definitely not, we would appear facing away from them otherwise. We came in facing the forest after all, so what we're here for is in there. Also, the quest would've probably triggered."
Sora sighed in relief "That's good.."
"Thinking about it now the chat group didn't specify what we'll actually be fighting." Subaru wondered aloud.
"Can see if these guys know." Shiro's test appeared before everyone's eyes.
Stelle instantly walked forward towards the opposing group of humans and Demi-humans "Hello, why are you all gathered here? We're here on a mission but we weren't told much."
The man at the front blinked in surprise for a moment, his burly figure straightening itself out as he got over his surprise.
"We don't have much information ourselves, this forest has been sealed off with a large-scale barrier for a few days now. The main issue however is that several sightings of goblins and hobgoblins were spotted inside the barrier. We believe they are building an army." The man explained.
With these new bits of information, the quest updated.
[Mission Update!]
[Destroy the Goblin army.
Goblins - 0/300,000
Hobgoblins - 0/200,000
Goblin king - 0/1
Goblin Queen - 0/1
??? - 0/20
Barrier breaks in 20 seconds.]
"Oh," All the chat members said simultaneously.
Rimuru quickly shouted to the opposing group who only numbered in the low 1 thousands.
"We recommend you get out of here quick! Our information got updated, there's 500,000 goblins in there and they're about to burst out!"
Shouts of disbelief in such a number rumbled through the group
The chat group member prepared their weapons, ignoring the group behind them, they weren't really worried about themselves. They were excited, it was the first time since the emergency mission that this many enemies had appeared and they all wanted to see how many points they could get from this.
Sora summoned Canis Lykaon, the black wolf-like dog appearing from his shadow.
Rimuru pulled out Origin.
Gudako enabled her "dragonic" state.
Nine black orbs appeared behind Subaru and a white cloak with 6 black magatama symbols on its chest and back. Two of the orbs came to his hands and formed the complete truth-seeking staff. A grin was spread wide across his face.
Dokja readied his sword and purple flame began licking across its edge.
Stelle instead of readying her bat summoned her Star Buster Star Blaster in its sword form.
A metallic black sword appeared in Shiro's hand.
"They aren't leaving." Gudako said a little worried.
"I'll set up a barrier don't worry." Rimuru said, as he watched the timer tick down.
"They'll probably be fine." Dokja said offhandedly.

The translucent barrier shuddered then fell.
For a moment nothing seemed to happen.
Then like thunder the hundreds of thousands of footsteps boomed across the field and a blue see-through wall-like barrier appeared between the chat group members and the army of adventurers. In Rimuru's mind, it was basically that if they could make it through the barrier then they could fight alongside them. The goblins were the basic kind except a bit more muscular, with green skin, relatively short, and carrying wooden clubs and old weapons they looted.
"Whoever gets the least amount of contribution has to spin the gacha until they're broke!" Subaru shouted and instantly took to the sky one of his 7 truth-seeking orbs glowing a bright white before flying into the ranks of the Goblins.
The orb traveled faster than the Goblins could perceive, and those it appeared next to paid it no mind. They charged forward to attack the humans standing before them, and then they knew no more.
The truth-seeking orb detonated into a bright flash of light eradicating an enormous portion of the goblins instantly. Everything in the range of the white light was instantly erased, leaving no trace that anything was ever there.
Goblins|Hobgoblins - 123,500/500,000
"You guys better not get left behind!" He shouted from the sky, the truth-seeking orb reappearing behind him, putting his number back to 7.
"Holy shit that's unfair, me and him were basically the same just a few days ago!" Sora shouted instantly firing off dozens of crimson beams into the charging goblin army.
With a clap of thunder, the entire front wave of goblins was instantly fried to a crisp pushing them back. Blue lightning crackled in the air dancing vigorously around Gudako's body.
"Well, that's what happens when you don't pull from the gacha. You haven't pulled even once yet right?" Gudako questioned.
Clicking his tongue in realization Sora shut his mouth and focused on firing his beams, Lykaon charging in, the blade in his mouth tearing through goblins like a knife through butter. Every attack was followed by a storm of blades made from shadows.
"If we're going to go this hard, might as well go all out as well." Shiro said, her appearance shifting instantly, Hair lengthen changing into a metallic black, her arms and legs and parts of her neck and collarbone changed to a metallic black as well. The Sclera of her eyes now the same black while her pupils remained blue. Her divine form fully unleashed.
Behind her, a legion of Nanotech cannons, swords, and other various weapons appeared. "Boom"
She let all the weapons fire forward. The cannons fired blue energy beams, blasting through the middle of the horde of Goblins. The sword, lances, polearms, everything was launched across various points of the goblin army slashing through and then detonating into dazzling explosions as they landed.
Goblins|Hobgoblins - 230,400/500,000
As everyone unleashed their long-range attacks Dokja ran forward towards the horde, since he technically still lacked long-range attacks it was all he could do. He swung his sword in a sweeping blow, purple flame following the blade and cleaving through dozens of goblins all at once. Though he obtained demonic energy, he didn't have time to develop it beyond simply being able to use it properly. At least now he would have much more stamina to work with.
He powered Incinerate Anthem to its maximum blasting flame after flame while cleaving through the Goblins with his sword.
Stelle watched alongside Rimuru, who was still standing still for a little bit. She was initially going to use the sword form of SbSb but she changed her mind, the sword shifted into a rifle and she took aim, she didn't fully charge it, no, that would likely blow up the planet.
She readied, aimed, and fired into the largest cluster of Goblins she could see, which was at the very back due to not all of them having run out of their cave just yet. From the barrel, a golden-orange beam ripped forward faster than lightning and wider than a truck. It erased every goblin in its path and it didn't stop. It ripped across the landscape blasted a giant hole through the the small mountain behind the hoard and continued off into the sky until it vanished.
Goblins|Hobgoblins - 374,600/500,000
In just a minute of them appearing, more than half of the goblin army had been eradicated.
Rimuru still remained in his spot until the number of dead goblins hit 390,000.
He smiled gleefully, "Hehe, I think I'll be taking the rest if you guys don't mind."
He unsheathed Origin, and every goblin locked in place, he swung the blade, and they all perished. Like puppets cut from a string, they all fell as if the one playing with them simply got bored and dropped them. Even the goblins that were separating from the pack and running away in fear stood no chance, simply dying in their stride.
Goblins|Hobgoblins - 500,000/500,000.
All eyes were instantly on Rimuru. He had his chest puffed up in absolute pride "HaHaHa! In one fell swoop, I took them all!"
All the chat group members made their way back to where he was.
"What in the world was that!" Sora exclaimed, he was about to try and do a big attack like everyone else when suddenly everything died.
Everyone else was curious as well, Rimuru had streamed when he took down the Orc lord and he hadn't seen him use this.
"It's something I was developing in secret, hehe. I used a combination of Truth, Binding, and Fate. While you guys were fighting I deconstructed their beings with Truth and Great Sage, then bonded them in place and delivered instant death with Fate." He explained the mechanics of what he did with absolute pride, he'd been working on it for a little while.
"Even though Stelle has the most brute force among us, you still have the most hax." Subaru commented with a scrunched expression.
"Wouldn't both go to Ophis?" Stelle asked since she was pretty sure Ophis was getting stronger just like them.
"I think he means of those of us here." Shiro added.
"Exactly." Subaru said nodding at her message.
They could tell they probably weren't gonna catch up to her for quite some time.
"We still have the king, the queen, and the question marks." Dokja commented as he swiped through the mission logs.
"They're probably in that cave." They had all seen it of course, the only remaining trees were nothing more than stumps so they all could see the cave directly from where they stood.
Quiet footsteps came up behind them "Uhm, may I join you in the cave?"
Looking at the voice they all saw a short black-haired cat girl in light armor and a cape with a large sword sheathed on her back.
She looked calm but it was easy to see that she was anything but.
"Should we? Since it's only a few it's probably fine inside." Sora said, his cute sensors affecting his judgement.
"I mean, we have basically no information on those 30 question marks, so I'm not too sure that's a good idea" Subaru said giving his own thoughts.
As they were about to discuss it, the chat group interrupted.
[Bring her with you and allow her to obtain the finishing blow on the highlighted enemy.
??? - 19
??? - 1| allow Fran to kill.]
They looked between each other and shrugged.
"Alright sure you can come, don't stray away from us though." Rimuru said and began walking to the cave. He removed the barrier he had set up earlier as well, those people seemed to have simply decided to watch.
The others followed along and the girl named Fran trailed just behind them.
They chatted casually as they reached and went into the cave, which was actually a dungeon of this world.
No goblins remained in the cave, they had sent everything out thinking their army would be more than enough to destroy everything in its path. Which would normally be true, but not now.
"They really just sent everything huh, what if something sneaked past the army? Sure the army would wipe everything else out but they'd be dead." Sora scratched the back of his head as he wondered this.
"Do you seriously expect high intelligence from goblins?" Subaru said but then paused "No offense to your guys Rimuru, those guys are abnormal."
"Ha, I wouldn't say they have high intelligence even with them being abnormal." Rimuru waved that away easily, they weren't barbarians like these guys but their minds are a bit…wonky.
Eventually, they reached a large cavern with two large goblins rested on makeshift thrones. They both wore crowns around their heads and had long hair unlike the other goblin.
"Dibs." Sora said instantly fire two shots of his crimson beams, the beams were far faster than anything the goblin king and queen could react to and their heads were pierced through and they died. No struggle to be found.
Goblin King - 1/1
Goblin Queen - 1/1
"There's no way that counts as contribution right?" Gudako said out loud, the leaders normally would be worth more but it seems like those guys were just too easy. The hoard wasn't hard either but that wasn't the point.
"It better!"
After a short exchange they continued deeper into the cavern until they encountered a door which opened with a slight push and they all went through, it slammed shut as soon as they were all in. The room they entered was completely dark with no source of light at all.
"Not creepy whatsoever, not at all."
Dokja sent the flames of incinerate anthem out in a widespread lighting up the area and incinerating all the bugs that were about to try and attack them.
Now finally, they reach the end of the dungeon a dark and misty room with a glowing orb embedded into the back wall.
They entered the room and were greeted by the sight of 20 humanoid creatures with bat-like wings dark skin, white hair, and horns. 14 were male and the other 6 were female.
"Demons?" Shiro questioned out loud but nobody could hear her. Unfortunately, that trait has yet to be solved even with her becoming a goddess.
Greater Demons - 0/19
Greater Demon - 0/1 Frans.
The Greater demon that was meant for Fran was highlighted green in their vision.
The Greater demon at the center, which seemed to be the leader was about to begin speaking when something behind it started shouting.
"Kill them! Kill them quickly! No dillydallying!" A goblin holding a cane said, ordering the demons hazardously.
The chat group members looked between each other and laughed a little, "Stay where you are, Miss Black Cat; we'll handle this." Stelle said, her rifle shifting back to a sword.
"Dark descend!" One of the demons said, casting a spell. The dome of complete darkness enshrouded the entire area, leaving no light to see with.
With no warning, a golden white light blasted outwards completely nullifying the darkness, and as the world became clear again four of the greater demons were already dead.
And all of them were on the floor extremely weakened. Light energy still dealt increased damage to demonic creatures, and even when it was not an attack it still crippled demons weaker than the user.
They watched as the demons writhed on the floor, their skin burning and peeling away.
.
.
.
"Well, that's anticlimactic." Rimuru said. Sweeping his sword and severing the head of the demons closest to him.
Shiro tapped Fran on the shoulder and pointed her to the target she's supposed to kill. Understanding the assignment to a degree she drew her sword and drove it through the demon's magicite.
Everyone else killed the remaining demons.
They looked over to where the goblin was only to see him dead on the floor and the orb embedded in the wall stopped glowing.
"How the hell did he die?" The question was one almost everyone shared.
"Probably from the light wave, or from a heart attack. Either one works." Shiro typed, her message flashing across everyone's view.
"Ah."
[Mission Complete!]
[Thank you to all who participated, contribution and rewards will be shown once all participants have returned to their worlds.]
With that message from the chat group, 7 distinct portals appeared, each one tailored for a specific member.
"Seems it's time to head back."
Everyone canceled their transformations and put away their equipment.
"Remember! Whoever has the lowest contribution has to spend everything!" Subaru said jumping into his portal.
Dokja sighed and reluctantly went into the portal. Getting away from the star stream once in a while was very helpful for his nerves.
Sora jumped into his portal shouting "My kingdom is waiting!"
"See you guys on the next mission." Gudako said waving goodbye and heading through her portal.
Shiro waved back with a nod and walked through her portal.
C
And Stelle turned to Fran "Have a safe trailblazer Fran!" And walked through her portal.
"Who in the world were those guys?" The sword said, speaking out loud, confusing lacing every word.
"Nn, no idea."
______________
I wrote this because I realized this story would literally go unupdated for a month like destruction if I focused on destruction rn, I'm having some heavy writer's block with it right now. This chapter is a little shorter than usual because the next chapter will be the calculations and a different POV. It'll probably be the last one for a little while.
