Chapter 173 - Chunin Exams # 32

Konohagakure No Sato :

Uzumaki Residence :

It was around 2 PM, and the early October air carried a nice, crisp chill. Even though it was the middle of the day, the village streets were absolutely packed. With the Hokage's office officially announcing the Chunin Exam finals for the end of the month, tourists, merchants, and foreign shinobi were flooding in, making the excitement palpable.

Back at the Uzumaki residence, the vibe was a whole lot more relaxed.

Out in the garden, Simba was doing zooming laps, tongue hanging out in pure doggy bliss just because Naruto was finally home. Sadako had already claimed her favorite shadowy spot in the trees, blending in so perfectly you'd struggle to even see her silhouette. Up on the house's tower, Rem was playing the dutiful watchdog, his sharp avian eyes scanning the perimeter. Meanwhile, Ram was chilling inside the living room, keeping an eye on two of Naruto's Shadow Clones as they cooked up a massive dinner.

As for Naruto's main body? He was soaking deep in his personal hot spring. He was immersed into his mindscape, watching Tom get absolutely wrecked by Jerry for the hundredth time, chuckling alongside the Kyuubi as he reminisced about how they'd gotten to this point.

It hadn't been easy. After Naruto had dropped that initial "stupid" question—"You can talk?!"—Kurama had lost his mind. The legendary beast had roared in sheer fury and violently thrown Naruto out of the mindscape.

( How dare this Kid treats me as some stupid animal )

Being treated like some dumb, standard-issue animal was a massive insult to his pride, even if Kurama subconsciously knew that a terrified kid's reaction was pretty natural.

But what the Kyuubi hadn't anticipated was the kid's sheer persistence after that .

Over the following days, Naruto started popping back into the mental space every Second or third day. He didn't come in with fear or demands. He just treated the colossal demon fox like some fascinating wonder of the world.

Naruto started rapid-firing "innocent," malice-free questions that gave Kurama an entirely new, deeply confusing brand of headache. It was a torture he wasn't used to—something annoying, yet strangely necessary , something he himself didn't know .

' To think an animal can talk?! Can you sing too? '

' Are you really the Kyuubi? '

' Were you born with all nine tails? '

' Wasn't it said Kyuubi is a mindless beast with no intelligence , So how could you talk ?/ '

'....You have so much fur... can we hug?! '

' Do you pee? '

' How do you scratch an itchy tail if like, three of them are itching at once?")

' Why are your eyes always bloodshot? , Don't you sleep ?? '

' Why is your chakra red? '

' What do you eat? '

' Where do you shit...? '

' can I touch those Ears '

While Kurama internally groaned at the absolute absurdity of the questions, Naruto was relentless. This was step one of his plan to become a perfect Jinchuriki. Back then, it wasn't even a real conversation. Naruto did all the talking, and the Kyuubi would just turn his massive back, pretending to be asleep or completely ignoring his unusual 'warden'.

( Mito was not like that .....neither was Kushina ....why does this look at me without any Malice .....is it because he is kid ?? )

Not that Naruto would ever point out how those giant fox ears still twitched toward him every now and then.

At first, Naruto played the perfect role: a pure, innocent kid asking a giant furball dumb questions. A child totally devoid of malice, representing an innocence Kurama hadn't seen in decades.

( ....what stupid Kid ....why does he waste time here .....doesn't he have anyoneelse to to waste their time or rotting their brain ) Thought Kyuubi with twitching eyes at kid's stupid talk and curiosity about him , The Kyuubi .

Not that he knew , that Naruto was already ready for the nexxt step of the plan .

And eventually, Naruto shifted gears. He didn't stop talking, but the topics changed. He didn't come in talking about how great life was, or babbling about food. Instead, he started treating Kurama like a diary.

He laid out the life of "Uzumaki Naruto"—a life completely hollowed out by loneliness and devoid of any real warmth. A life perfectly, coldly orchestrated by Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Naruto poured out the facts of his past, reaching back to his memories as a three-year-old to his awakening . He recounted all the sadness, the isolation, and the total disregard for his own wishes, delivering it all with that flawless, childlike innocence.

An acting based on real life story and events that was delivered with a flawless acting , speeches delievered in such way that were worthy of Oscar winning acting and writing . and All this with Child like Innocence of 9 or 10 year old .

The Kyuubi was the ultimate lie detector when it came to malice, but Naruto wasn't lying. Everything he recounted about those first nine years was the cold, hard truth. He spun a narrative that was roughly 70% pure trauma, 20% happy moments, and 10% random nonsense.

( .....these Disgusting Humans ) Kurama felt his malice boiling at those words despite not showing any reactions to the 'dumb' Kid .

For Naruto though , It was a calculated bridge. If Naruto had strolled in there and bragged about how awesome the outside world was, it would have been incredibly stupid. How is a malice-incarnate, human-hating beast supposed to bond with a jailer who is rubbing his freedom and happiness in his face?

But shared misery?

Shared anger at a cage?

That was something they could build on.

By using his child-like voice and laying out the real tragedies of his life (sprinkled with just enough calculated spin to win an Oscar), Naruto managed to pluck at the heartstrings of the ultimate demon.

The result? Within six months, the Kyuubi stopped turning his back. He still refused to talk, but he stopped roaring, and he stopped throwing Naruto out. The fox realized the kid wasn't the enemy of his , but also someone forced due to circumstances .

Sometimes Kurama even blamed himself for making the boy's life hell, before remembering the real villains were the humans who shoved him inside a kid, condemning them both to suffer.

( ........pitiful Stupid Kid ...disgusting humans ...!!)

And During those talks, Naruto would casually drop little hints about his "Grandpa Hokage" and the village's teachings. To a naive kid, the stories sounded fine. But to an adult—or an ancient, cynical fox—those "happy" little anecdotes sounded exactly like what they were: systematic brainwashing designed to create a disposable tool.

Kurama analyzed the so-called "Will of Fire" and the Shinobi system through Naruto's ramblings, and he saw right through the contradictions.

Naruto's internal breakdown of the village's philosophy was brutal, and he let those thoughts bleed into his stories:

(How do you follow a system that constantly contradicts itself?) The Will of Fire says the whole village is one big, loving family that you must protect. But the Shinobi Law says a ninja is just a tool who must kill their emotions. Love is an emotion. And last time Kyuubi checked, tools don't have families.

The Will of Fire was supposed to be this beautiful, unifying force, but looking at history, it only brought pain, heartache, and anger. It wasn't about bonding; it was about control. It basically meant: Follow the rules blindly, don't ask questions, do what we say even if it's morally bankrupt, and if you step out of line, we'll treat you like trash or kill you.

The Collective belief Over Self beleief

Justifying Atrocities in the name of Greater Good

Empathy over Hatred: It represents love and compassion as the ultimate keys to peace, serving as the direct opposite of the Uchiha clan's Curse of Hatred and their annihlation

And then

The philosophy demands absolute loyalty to a system and it's rules .

The "Will of Fire" states that the entire village is like a large family unit and every Konoha shinobi with the Will of Fire loves, believes, cherishes, and fights to protect the village, as previous generations had done before them. The "Shinobi Law" Says that a Shinobi should kill its emotions and make Mission compeation as their priority .

Deconstructing all this , Kurama came to a conclusion

("What stupidity..") Kurama would think to himself, listening to the kid's stories. ("A belief designed to thoroughly fool children and turn them into obedient tools......A tool Like me but an Obediant one )

Because for all intents and purposes, Kurama was not a child. He was an ancient prisoner. His deep-seated hatred for the word "Hokage," combined with the kid's tragic reality, only stoked his anger toward the humans running the village.

And in that shared, quiet anger.. a strange, undeniable resonance had formed between the demon Fox and the Blonde boy.

The underlying truth of their situation wasn't lost on the giant beast. Deep within the recesses of the seal, a dark, cynical thought crossed the fox's mind.

(...Hehe. In the end, whether it's me or this brat..... we're both just tools to them.)

But despite the deep, unusual resonance Kurama was starting to feel with Naruto, the fox found himself getting incredibly angry at the kid.

Why? Because Naruto's obsessive, deep-seated desire to become Hokage and gain the village's acknowledgment seemed utterly, maddeningly ridiculous to him.

That fundamental clash of ideals sparked their second real conversation, roughly a year and a half ago.

Afterall before all this , It was just Naruto speaking to fox and not him responding , basically not a conversation or communication .

At that time , Naruto had been sitting in the mindscape, casually babbling about his dream to stand at the top of the village and force everyone to finally respect him. Kurama had let out a massive, mocking scoff, his voice dropping into a menacing rumble.

"You absolute, stupid fool."

"What?!" Naruto barked back, looking offended.

"I'm saying you're an idiot, kid."

"Why?!"

"You're asking me why?" Kurama sneered, leaning his massive face closer to the bars. "Because why would any sane, self-respecting INDIVIDUAL crawl on their hands and knees begging for the approval of the exact same people who threw you away and handed you nothing but pure pain?"

"...But Grandp—" Naruto started, trying to defend the Third Hokage & the Village but Kurama continued cutting the kid off .

"Why would anyone work themselves to the bone, dedicating their entire life to serving a village that treats them in such a completely ridiculous way?" Kurama interrupted, his voice rising. "Protecting these worthless, ignorant civilians with your literal life, despite them treating you like a disposable object? You're a person , kid. You deserve to actually feel an emotion! and not just feel what these bugs want you to feel "

"---That's not how it is!"

"KID... LISTEN TO ME!" Kurama roared, the sound vibrating the entire dimension. It wasn't just a display of dominance; it was a raw, emotionally charged plea to force the blind kid to see reality.

"IT IS ALRIGHT TO FEEL ANGRY!"

"...But if we just surrender to anger—"

"RIDICULOUS!" The Kyuubi bellowed, slamming a massive paw down. "Anger isn't just a random tantrum, brat! It acts as the primary baseline alarm system for an individual! It is the single fastest emotion your biology can produce, and its entire job is to scream at you that you are not being treated right!"

Hearing those words, Naruto's eyes went wide. For a split second, his childish act almost cracked under the sheer psychological weight of Kurama's argument. He quickly gathered his composure, making sure his outward expression showed the fox that the words had struck a massive, ringing chord.

But internally? Naruto's tactical processor was calculating a completely different angle.

(.....Anger is an alarm, sure. But unchecked anger also makes you completely lose your mind and ruin your future that may only bring Regrets , Kurama.)

Kurama kept going, launching into a massive, hatred-fueled lecture about the systemic hypocrisy of the shinobi world. Outwardly, Naruto continued to push back against the fox's dark philosophy, but he did it by completely shifting the emotional battlefield.

Seeing that the Kyuubi wouldn't stop drilling him, the "kid" finally snapped, roaring back with 'tears' practically welling up in his eyes.

"BUT I JUST WANT TO BE HAPPY!"

Kurama froze, the words dying in his throat.

"I JUST DON'T WANT TO BE COMPLETELY ALONE ANYMORE!" Naruto yelled into the vast green expanse.

"..."

"I just want a single person to talk to! Someone I can actually share things with!"

"..."

"Someone to just look at me and acknowledge that I exist!" Naruto's voice cracked perfectly. "What you're saying might be technically right.... but going down that path will only ever lead to total destruction and more loneliness!"

"..."

Kurama stared down at the boy through the towering pillars. For the first time in over fifty years, a Jinchuriki was standing right in front of him, conversing with him as an absolute equal. Naruto wasn't looking at him like a liar, a demonic plague, or an existential threat the way Uzumaki Mito or Uzumaki Kushina used to.

The kid was genuinely reasoning with him—firmly denying the fox's toxic conclusions, yet completely validating and acknowledging the demon fox's pain. Hearing the raw, desperate counter-argument, Kurama was suddenly reminded of a glaring reality: the entity he was arguing with was just a lonely, broken child whose core goals were entirely basic and humane , different from an eternal immortal but a caged beast like him .

"No matter what you say....." Naruto muttered, his shoulders slumping as he stared at the swewe water dripping floor

"I just don't want to be lonely."

Looking at the kid laying his absolute soul bare, Kurama fell entirely silent. Deep within his ancient mind, the echoes of his own father's long-forgotten words about the nature of hatred and bonds rippled through his consciousness.

Of course, the legendary Kyuubi wasn't about to completely waver on his hardline stance. He proudly sat back down on his haunches, retreating into a stony, dignified silence as he watched Naruto turn around and exit the mindscape.

( *Sigh*... Forget it,) Kurama thought, a bitter taste lingering in his mouth as he watched the boy leave. ( He's just a naive kid. Maybe he'll finally understand the truth once he actually grows up and gets betrayed by these bugs and understood the reality )

Ofcourse what The Kyuubi didn't know was that after Naruto left mentalspace , his exact thoughts were

(...Step 3: Complete.)

Yes, Step 3 of his perfect synchronization protocol was officially checked off. The goal was to build a flawless empathetic bridge, forcing Kurama to see Naruto as a fellow victim of the system—a co-tool—while subtly planting the seed that unlike a sealed beast, Naruto actually had the physical agency to choose a different path.

Kurama losing his temper and passionately trying to advise him was the ultimate confirmation that the fox had emotionally invested in his wellbeing.

(.....Now, straight into Step 4.)

Step 4 was all about showing behavioral feedback. Naruto needed to prove to Kurama that his fiery advice hadn't just fallen on deaf ears. He needed to show The Kyuubi that his warden changing his daily habits because he had processed the fox's words.

It was the ultimate psychological trick to make Kurama realize he was respected as an authority figure, completely dismantling any remaining "evil demon" stigma.

So, in the subsequent weeks and months, Naruto's "diary entries" and casual rants inside the seal underwent a massive shift. He started showing and telling Kurama how he had completely stopped pulling public pranks, entirely cutting off his desperate craving for the village's toxic attention.

He explained how he was completely shifting his focus inward, prioritizing his own strength and value over the opinions of ungrateful civilians.

As the year progressed, Naruto started introducing the stories of the people he had previously overlooked—the genuine bonds he was forming on his own terms. Kurama listened to every single word, his internal emotional landscape shifting dramatically.

(....The brat actually listened to me,) Kurama realized, a strange sense of pride blooming in his chest.

(Even if it was just a little bit... he actually took my advice to heart. Mito and Kushina would have rather died than listen to a single word out of my mouth.)

Naruto would tell him about Old Man Teuchi, who handed him hot bowls of ramen when he was starving without ever demanding a single thing in return.

He detailed his explosive training progress once he stopped wasting chakra on public stunts and focused on real mastery.

He talked about Gian and his little academy gang, who acknowledged his strength despite hearing the dark rumors about the demon fox reincarnation.

He brought up Shikamaru and the other guys, who treated him like a regular classmate without any hidden agendas.

And then came the heavy hitters. He recounted the moment Ino stood dead in the center of a crowded street and loudly defended him, completely denying that he was some kind of monster.

And finally, Hinata, the girl who had somehow always been quietly watching over him from the background long before he had even started changing his life.

Something he always knew but never understood as his focus was always on the no-named Villagers .

Hearing all of this, the Kyuubi actually felt a wave of envy—but it wasn't jealousy. It was a strange, vicarious happiness. The kid's life was actively turning around and flourishing precisely because he had listened to his words .

( At least this kid is not a lost cause ) thought Kyuubi silently as the Kid Bragged about his life .

Naruto had successfully transitioned from a pathetic sacrifice begging for the approval of unworthy human insects, to a capable individual seeking out people who actually deserved his acknowledgement .

The only real fly in the ointment was that the kid still held onto that stupid Hokage title ambition.

But for Naruto all this has different menaing , Regardless, the core objective was achieved:

Naruto was treating the world's most feared entity not as a weapon or a calamity, but as an individual with valuable insight. It was an experience Kurama hadn't tasted since the passing of the Sage of Six Paths and his own siblings.

( it seems things are going good ...then the next step )

With the foundation solid, Naruto smoothly rolled into Step 5: introducing the Spirit Transformation Technique and its environmental reality-warping capabilities.

Kurama still vividly remembered the day Naruto had stood in the center of the old, disgusting sewer mindscape, looked around with a look of pure distaste, and casually muttered,

"This place is honestly repulsive. Even if it's technically a prison, no living being deserves to be locked in a dump like this."

In the days that followed, the fox watched in utter fascination as the brat used his expanding Yin Release mastery to manually overwrite the layout. Day after day, without a single pause or complaint, Naruto worked himself to the bone to completely redesign the space, carving out the mountains, weaving the river, and planting the plush grass.

(No matter what he changes... a cage is still a cage,) Kurama had grumbled to himself back then.

But despite his cynical internal monologue, a completely foreign emotion was taking root in his malicious heart. Someone was actively working themselves to exhaustion... just to make him more comfortable.

The terrifying Incarnation felt something different at that time .

Just like a strange warmth one may feel in their chest when their beloved Cooks them food with all their efforts even if it tastes disgusting or mostly meaningless

But is actually not , because it was the thought of being cared for that matters the most .

When Naruto finally managed to manifest a highly realistic, functioning sun and moon into the artificial sky, Kurama was deeply touched. It was the first time he had laid eyes on The Sun in over half a century.

( Sun & Moon ....when was the last time I saw them ? ) Kyuubi looked all this in nostalgia , not that TSundere Fox willacknoledge the kids efforts through words or any talk .

But Naruto didn't stop there. He dropped two massive upgrades into the mindscape , and this changed started just months ago .

First were the cartoons. Introducing classics like Tom & Jerry or Bugs Bunny was another tactical move; because the characters were animals outsmarting their environments, it resonated far better with a Tailed Beast than any human-centric media ever could.

Second, as his mastery over the S-rank Spirit Transformation Technique increased , Naruto successfully bridged his physical sight straight into the mindscape. Now, Kurama could literally watch the outside world through Naruto's eyes.

( Ofcourse It was just sight ....with many things mixed in it ) naruto remembered those days and plans .

Naturally, this feature came with heavy filtering. Whenever Naruto had to handle sensitive, highly strategic, or problematic actions , things that may derail from his story or history that he fed to Kurama, he would seamlessly reroute Kurama's feed to a specific Shadow Clone connected via his MindHub.

That clone would deliberately spend hours sitting under the moonlight in absolute, artistic isolation, with his only solace being Simba and his avians—the beasts he openly treated as his real, true family.

Kurama watched all of this play out in profound, heavy silence from behind his pillars, absorbing the narrative completely.

( ....Lonely ...a human with only beasts as his family )

The absolute culmination of this psychological scenario occurred just a few months ago, right before their academy graduation.

And this was the THird Conversation between them in three years , Naruto had been sitting by the riverbank, looking up at the cage before tossing out a deceptively casual question.

"You know... I really don't think you're inherently an evil guy. So why the hell is the village so obsessed with keeping you locked up like this?"

Hearing the kid's naive phrasing, especially the lack of malice and the truthful words ,Something stiired inside the Kyuubi . the old, dormant wounds inside Kurama's soul violently tore open. The fox lost his mind, his eyes flaring crimson as he roared in a sudden outburst of long-suppressed rage .

"YOU'RE ASKING WHY?! THEN LET ME EDUCATE YOU, YOU INSOLENT BRAT...!!!"

"Huh?" Naruto blinked, playing the part.

"BECAUSE OF MY POWER!" Kurama bellowed, his massive fangs dripping with saliva. "Because that hypocrite Hashirama decided I was simply too dangerous to be free! Every single one of these wretched humans, every single one of these hidden villages... THEY ALL DESPERATELY LUST FOR MY POWER!"

"Power...?"

"POWER! CHAKRA!" the fox screamed, his tails violently whipping the air behind him. "They invent a thousand ridiculous, righteous excuses to justify it, but at the end of the day, they all just want to exploit me! They lust for my Chakra to fulfill their own disgusting, selfish goals!"

"...But aren't—"

"AND YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT!" Kurama cut him off, his voice dropping into a venomous, echoing snarl. "Don't sit there daydreaming, kiddo! You are my Jinchuriki! Whether you like it or not, your entire existence, the sole reason you were born, The sole reason you will live , is to siphon my chakra for the benefit of those slimy, backstabbing bugs! For their 'peace'..... for their 'Greater Good'... fpr peace .....HEHEHEHE! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The fox collapsed back onto the floor of his cage ,his head looked above the sky as he started laughing maniacally as his own pure malice and decades of deep psychological trauma consumed him.

(........as expected , there is a lot of malice & hatred ....not that it isn't justfied )

Looking at the thrashing, broken deity of raw chakra, Naruto felt his own throat go completely dry. For a brief moment, the sheer, unadulterated tragedy of Kurama's existence cut through his cold, analytical calculations, giving him a genuine taste of the fox's eternal nightmare.

In that exact split second, Naruto made a definitive almost Reckless decision. He looked the raging beast dead in his bloodshot eyes, his voice cutting through the laughter like a blade as he roared

" THEN "

"...Hehe ? What, brat?" Kurama growled, his laughter dying out.

"Then I am giving you my promise right here, right now," Naruto declared, his posture perfectly rigid. "No matter what happens in the future, and no matter what desperate situation I find myself in, I will never use your chakra. I will never touch your power "

"....."

" Not for this Village ....and NOt for Myself either "

Kurama froze entirely, his massive mind completely bewildered. Every single Jinchuriki in historical record existed solely to weaponize their Tailed Beast's chakra for the state. For decades, his previous hosts had eventually reached into his cage to siphon his energy for their own "righteous" battles.

Hearing a kid completely reject the ultimate cheat code of the shinobi world left the Kyuubi utterly puzzled. But his deeply ingrained cynicism quickly took over, and he sneered in heavy disdain.

"Heh... Lies. You're just like the rest of them "

"..."

" Sooner or later .... In the end, you'll find yourself backed into a corner, and you'll invent some beautiful, convenient excuse to exploit my power for your precious 'Greater Good,' hehe."

Naruto didn't yell. He didn't drop his gaze because he knew that words alone won't change this perception of Kurama towards Humans or Jinchuriki .

So He just locked his eyes onto the ancient fox,The Strongest Tailed Beast In the world , his voice dropping into a low & terrifyingly serious that vibrated with absolute, unshakeable certainty inside that Seal .

"My name is Uzumaki Naruto..... and I don't go back on my word."

"..."

"I know words alone aren't going to cut it for someone like you " Naruto continued, his voice steady and deadly serious. "So don't just take my word for it. Just watch over me, watch my actions, and decide for yourself."

Kurama stared at him, genuinely thrown off balance. "...Why? Are you completely stupid, brat? With my power at your disposal, that ridiculous Hokage dream of yours would be a literal piece of cake."

Naruto didn't even blink. "Because I want you to trust me."

"HAA?!" The Kyuubi let out a sharp, bewildered snort.

" Not just others , I also want your acknowledgment," Naruto pressing forward, laying down the final emotional tracks. "And I want your trust."

"...WHY?!" Kurama demanded, his massive brow furrowing in irritation and confusion.

"...BECAUSE..." Naruto paused, letting the weight of the moment hang in the air before giving the ultimate punchline. "...BECAUSE I WANT TO BE FRIENDS."

"..."

"...Ridiculous," the fox hissed, masking his sudden internal turbulence with disdain.

"I want to be friends with the one person in this world who is exactly like me," Naruto countered, staring straight into the abyss of the fox's eyes. "LONELY."

"..."

" someone who is with me since my birth , someone who I think is as lonely as me , someone who I want to be friends with "

"Being Friend with you," Naruto said, his tone softening but losing none of its intensity. "Not with 'The Kyuubi' who everyone treats as a weapon, a tool, or a walking natural disaster or anything that this world think you are or any purpose

"...."

"........ I don't care about the power. I want THIS because... because I know exactly how crushing and miserable true loneliness is.

"...you know nothing Kid "

"... So just watch me. Watch me every single day, and try to trust me. even a little bit

"

" .... I don't go back on my word."

Finishing his 'mouth escape' Naruto flashed a tiny but determined grin.

"Believe it."

The Kyuubi fell silent at The Blonde's words and the sheer Emotins and honesty in them , the words that lack any malice , The words that contained not a single stain in them but only purity .

Naruto watched the Kyuubi with a little nervousness inside , while some words contain different meaning , He did genuinly want to be friend with Kurama , and these words are the real words that came out of his heart without any deceivement .

They were so rare that Only Hinata or Ino may heard them , even that occasinaly . And this was the reason Naruto waited for Kurama's response Nervously with Hopeful eyes .

But

The only response Naruto got that night was an abrupt, violent eviction notice. Kurama's face blanked into an indifferent, stoic mask as he instantly flooded the seal with a massive wave of dense red chakra, forcibly snapping the link and throwing Naruto entirely out of the mental space.

[ The Present : back to present ]

Inside his private hot spring, Naruto's eyes flickered slightly beneath the damp towel but his consciouness still remained in that Mental space .

Across the mental screen in his mindscape, the classic Tom & Jerry episode was finally drawing to a close. Ever since the night of that heavy promise, Naruto had made it an absolute rule to visit Kurama for at least two hours every single day.

Most of that Time block was spent relaxing and streaming cartoons, while the remaining time was dedicated to Naruto's casual diary entries—rambling about his day while the Kyuubi listened in unbroken, heavy silence.

Even when Naruto wasn't physically hanging out in the seal and was busy in the outside rworld , Kurama stopped retreating into total sensory deprivation like before .

When he wasn't sleeping, the Demon fox actively utilized the shared vision link, silently watching the outside world play out entirely from Naruto's perspective.

He had watched the kid push his body to the absolute brink day in and day out, running tactical simulations, mastering complex jutsu, and hanging out with his growing circle of friends.

And in all this , One thing touched the malice Incarnate's heart . Seeing the boy consistently work his absolute ass off without taking a single shortcut had slowly, subtly done a number on the fox's worldview.

(....Is this brat seriously training himself to death just so he never has to rely on my chakra?) Kurama often thought and mused in the quiet dark, his massive tails twitching. (Is he doing all this just to keep that stupid promise to me?)

Day by day, the colossal emotional iceberg that had frozen over Kurama's heart for fifty years was finally showing signs of a slow, steady melt. It wasn't completely thawed by any means—at the end of the day, Kurama still viewed the kid as his Jinchuriki, the physical cage holding him back from total freedom.

But the rigid, hateful dynamic between warden and prisoner was undeniably shifting.

And the undeniable proof of that shifting dynamic landed right here,

Today.

Just as Naruto wrapped up his usual daily recap and prepared to pull his consciousness out of the mental space to enjoy the rest of his bath, a deep, rumbling voice echoed through the vibrant green plains of his mindscape.

Breaking his months of self-imposed silence, the Kyuubi actually spoke up first making the fourth coversation between them in years . But The Fox's tone this time lacked the usual roaring malice or defensive mockery.

It was something

It was different

"That creepy-ass snake almost took you out of the game, didn't it?"

Naruto's mental avatar froze mid-step, his eyes widening in genuine surprise.

"Huh??"
