Chapter 104 - 104: Scott Felt Utterly Miserable

"There's a saying you should have heard: leave professional matters to professionals."

Luke's gaze shifted, sweeping past the unwilling Scott and the thoughtful Storm.

"Remember, in this world, no one understands the Phoenix Force better than I do."

"If the Phoenix Force isn't handled properly, what awaits you is Jean Grey as a world-destroying force that burns everything!"

Charles's heart skipped a beat.

Oh my… Is the apocalypse crisis right beside us?!

"No more nonsense. The decision is in your hands. I still have many things to deal with, so I'll be leaving now."

Luke calmly put down his fork and casually added, "Next time, let's try a different place. This one has Pineapple Pizza on its menu. And what kind of chef puts this much sugar in matcha?"

Seeing this, Sharon Carter quickly set down her matcha latte and absentmindedly followed Luke.

She was practically like a little shadow.

Luke didn't stop her.

He had originally intended to warn Nick Fury through Sharon.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have said so much at the dinner table.

Charles and Nick Fury were both smart people.

They understood what he meant.

This saved him the trouble of having to explain things with his fists.

After Luke left, Charles asked Jean Grey for her opinion.

He also told her about the other Jean Grey.

Scott was the first to object. "Professor, we can't hand Jean over to Luke. He has so many women—I mean.. Who knows if he truly wants to help Jean or if he has ulterior motives?"

Storm, however, had a different opinion. "Luke doesn't seem like that kind of person. Even if he really wanted to sleep with Jean, he would still find a way to help her deal with that rampant power."

Scott was stunned. That actually made sense?

Wait! We can't send Jean away just so someone can sleep with her!

Scott hurriedly said, "Professor, haven't you already imprisoned the other Jean Grey for so many years? Since we already have a way to deal with it, why should we ask an outsider for help?"

Charles sighed and shook his head. "I'm old, and I can't hold on much longer. Luke is right. Professionals should handle professional matters."

"Perhaps… I was wrong from the very beginning."

"I can feel the hatred that power has for me… it hates me."

Hearing this, a trace of fear suddenly flashed through Jean Grey's heart.

Something in her mind seemed to have triggered a keyword, struggling to break free.

Jean's face instantly turned pale, and strange black-and-red lines appeared on her forehead and neck, looking extremely eerie.

Seeing this, Charles quickly reinforced the psychic cage. Using all his strength, he barely managed to suppress the Phoenix Force.

It wasn't because Charles was exceptionally powerful, but because Jean Grey, an Omega-level telepath, was actively cooperating.

Only by working together could the two of them restrain the other Jean Grey, who had not yet fully erupted.

However, as a result, the evil and rampant side of the other Jean Grey grew even stronger.

Charles's face was pale, and he slumped in his wheelchair, as if he had completely overdrawn his strength.

"Quick, go find Luke!"

...

An hour later,

Luke and Sharon had just returned home

when Jean Grey arrived soon after, accompanied by Scott, who had volunteered to escort her.

"Have you thought it through? Are you sure you want to accept my treatment plan?"

Luke was a little surprised that Jean had come so quickly.

Jean Grey said with lingering fear, "Soon after you left, the other Jean Grey almost broke free from the cage. The Professor and I managed to seal her again together, but if it happens another time… No, there can't be another one."

Luke frowned slightly. Under Scott's burning gaze, he reached out and grabbed Jean Grey's hand.

Although Luke did not specialize in telepathic abilities, his status as the Will of Earth was not undeserved.

Perhaps it would be difficult for him to completely convert the Great Serpent's Will of the Earth into psychic power, but he could use this identity, combined with his own powerful intelligence and soul strength, to achieve many incredible things.

For example, sensing the Phoenix Force.

Luke extended his awareness deep into Jean's body, carefully sensing the feedback.

He heard a clear cry—one that carried anger and destruction, yet at the same time contained endless life and burning passion.

She was blazing, so intensely hot that anyone who approached would be reduced to ashes.

Luke could keenly perceive her emotions.

She longed for freedom.

She wanted to transform into a frenzied Dark Phoenix and roam freely through the sea of the universe.

The other Jean sensed Luke's will.

She was not as irritable or terrifying as when she faced Charles.

Perhaps because she recognized Luke's status as the Will of Earth, a hint of curiosity arose within her.

Then came another cry—Help me!

Luke slowly used his will and mind to soothe the other Jean Grey's flames. However, simple comfort clearly had very little effect.

The blazing fire remained as rampant as ever, only slightly diminished compared to before.

Luke slowly withdrew his awareness from Jean's body.

Jean's face was flushed. Her moist eyes stared straight at Luke, and her lips parted slightly. "You entered my body and communicated with her?"

Scott felt that sentence sounded very wrong.

What exactly did you two do right in front of me?!

I'm still here!

Luke ignored Scott, whose fists were clenched tightly, and said seriously, "The other Jean Grey is asking me for help. She longs for freedom."

Jean bit her lip, afraid to respond to the other Jean Grey's voice.

The other Jean longed for freedom—but if she truly gained it, what would happen?

Kill the Professor? Destroy this world that imprisoned her?

If that were truly the outcome, Jean would rather die together with the Phoenix, sacrificing her own life.

"Alright, don't worry about that for now. Come inside with me first. I'll give you the Tiger Talisman."

Luke naturally couldn't release the Phoenix. Who knew what it would do?

It would be one thing if the Phoenix went off to eliminate the bugs of this world.

But Luke estimated that this fragment of the Phoenix would most likely be influenced and corrupted by those things, turning into the Dark Phoenix.

Perhaps the Phoenix Force possessed a high status, but right now it was only a newly hatched little phoenix. How could it face a fully prepared, complete boss that might be on the same level as the Phoenix—or even stronger?

Therefore, Luke decided to keep the Phoenix by his side.

He would let it fight some small monsters and level up first.

Jean nodded and followed Luke into the house.

Scott quickly reached out his hand. "Jean!"

"Scott, you can leave now."

Jean Grey waved her hand at Scott. "Don't disturb us anymore. We have important matters to deal with."

Scott felt utterly miserable. Why did he feel like he was being cuckolded right in front of his face?

I was here first!

Scott stood outside the door for a long time before finally staggering away.

Across the house, Sharon Carter, who was watching the situation from the second floor while speaking on the phone, looked at Scott's retreating figure and couldn't help murmuring, "He looks like a dog…"

"What did you say? Dog? Who's a dog?"

"Ah, no—I meant Scott looks like a dog."

"Scott? Cyclops? Why bring him up? Continue reporting what just happened."

"Yes, Director!"

...

Just after Scott left, Luke called Jean Grey into the room alone.

To prevent the Phoenix from going berserk, he activated the Mirror Dimension.

If the Tiger Talisman failed to work, Luke would have to use Plan B—persuasion through force.

"Jean, are you ready?"

"Let me say this first. I'm not completely confident about this experiment. If you're willing to wait two more days, I might come up with a better solution."

Luke had actually wanted to wait until Jean Grey was registered by the Reality Editor before proceeding slowly.

Or wait until the Reality Editor upgraded to a major new version, check the new features, and then start dealing with it.

But since the Phoenix had just nearly erupted, Jean was eager to resolve the problem immediately.

Jean didn't hesitate. "Let's begin. Please don't pity me! I can feel her eroding the cage, trying to seize control of my will!"

"Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next moment, I won't be myself anymore."

Seeing this, Luke stopped trying to persuade her.

After modifying the Tiger Talisman's settings through the Reality Editor so that it matched Jean Grey, he handed the talisman to her.

As soon as the Tiger Talisman touched Jean, it transformed into a stream of light and flowed into her body.

In an instant, a brilliant red glow burst forth. Under the Equilibrium power of the Tiger Talisman, the dark consciousness born from the Phoenix Force and Jean's own consciousness began to slowly merge.
