Legion moved first.
He closed the distance in a single explosive burst, sword already drawn and swinging before Aren had fully processed the movement, the blade cutting through the air with a force that bent the wind around it. Aren got his guard up at the last possible moment, the impact slamming into him hard enough to slide him backward across the stone, his boots carving two long lines into the ground before he stopped.
The vibration from the block ran all the way up his arms and into his shoulders.
'Heavy' Aren thought, adjusting his grip on ancient devourer. ' This is not going to be easy.'
Legion pulled back, looking at him across the distance with something that sat between focus and regret.
"You don't have to do this," Legion said, his voice carrying across the space between them. "Aren. There is still a way out of this that doesn't end with you in the ground. Just stop."
Aren said nothing.
