Chapter 263 - The Calm After Chaos, and the Gathering Storm

In the footage—

Cynthia explained her purpose to Ash. It turned out she had also been commissioned by the Galar Alliance to suppress the rampaging Dynamax Pokémon.

Just half an hour earlier, she had been investigating relic traces across Galar with Sonia. After receiving the call, she rushed over—only to discover that Ash had already arrived and resolved the crisis.

"…I see. In that case, let's handle the remaining disturbances together, Miss Cynthia!" Ash said.

"Well, with you here, things should be much easier~" Cynthia replied with a faint smile.

Ash's strength had clearly earned her recognition. The boy who once fell in the Sinnoh League semifinals now possessed the power to stand on equal footing with her.

She even found herself looking forward to facing him in the future Masters Eight. After bidding farewell to the villagers, the two set off for the next location.

At the same time, Gary encountered some trouble on his end. In one area, three Dynamax Pokémon rampaged simultaneously.

Even for someone of Gary's caliber, that was no simple task. In essence, Dynamaxing resembled a fusion of Mega Evolution and Z-Moves—it enhanced overall stats while converting moves into powerful Max Moves.

It carried the full-attribute boost of Mega Evolution and the amplified skill output of Z-Moves.

However, the enhancements were comparatively moderate. The stat increase wasn't as extreme as Mega Evolution, and the Max Moves didn't reach the explosive peak of Z-Moves.

Even so, it remained a terrifying system—especially because it was universally compatible with nearly all Pokémon.

Without the limitations of Power Spots and Dynamax Bands, Galar might have been the strongest region among all eight. Even with restrictions, it still ranked among the most formidable.

Returning to the battlefield—

Gary found himself momentarily pressured. But reinforcements soon arrived.

The Champion of Galar—Leon.

With most other incidents already handled, only two regions remained active. With Leon's support, Gary quickly suppressed the three Dynamax Pokémon.

Thus, with four champion-level trainers working in tandem, the crisis across Galar rapidly subsided.

Meanwhile, Ash and Cynthia arrived at the final hotspot—an active mine.

The culprit was a Coalossal, now in Gigantamax form, wreaking havoc under the influence of mysterious energy. Together, Ash and Cynthia subdued it within minutes, dispersing the energy and returning it to normal.

But the real issue began afterward.

As Coalossal regained consciousness, the miners surrounded it—shouting, blaming, even throwing stones. Their anger stemmed from the destruction it had caused. Yet Coalossal retained fragments of memory from its rampage. Instead of retaliating, it stood still, silently enduring the blows like a penitent.

Ash stepped forward instantly, placing himself between Coalossal and the crowd, arms spread wide.

"This isn't Coalossal's fault! It didn't choose to destroy the mine—it was a victim too!"

"Hasn't Coalossal always helped you? How can you erase everything it's done because of one moment it couldn't control?!"

The miners fell silent.

One by one, they lowered their hands.

They knew he was right. Coalossal had always been a reliable partner. Their anger had blinded them, causing them to lash out without reason.

But the one standing before them now was the very boy who had just saved them. His words carried weight.

Gradually, they calmed.

Then, together, they bowed.

"We're sorry. We shouldn't have blamed everything on Coalossal."

Ash smiled and stepped aside.

Coalossal stood there—tears streaming down its rugged face.

A misunderstanding between humans and Pokémon… resolved.

...

[Leon:] "Ash hasn't changed at all. No matter how much time passes, he's still the boy who loves Pokémon."

[Raihan:] "Haha, every time, he stands in front of them without hesitation. That's just who he is."

[Marnie:] "Blaming Pokémon… stupid."

[Diantha:] "It's the influence of the Darkest Day—the energy of Eternatus. But after this, people will understand Coalossal better."

[Wallace:] "Ash is truly a bridge between humans and Pokémon. Without him, who knows what this world would become?"

[Cynthia:] "From everything we've seen, Ash must have risked his life again and again to earn the trust of Legendary Pokémon."

[Cynthia:] "Others' bonds with Legendary Pokémon inspire envy. But Ash's… feel natural. Because he earned them with his life."

Across the world, admiration surged once more.

No matter how much time passed—

Ash remained unchanged.

His goal had never wavered.

A Pokémon Master.

...

In the footage—

After resolving the Coalossal incident, Ash and Cynthia mounted Pidgeot and Garchomp, heading toward Hammerlocke.

Since Ash had arranged to meet Gary there, Cynthia chose to accompany him—not only to regroup, but to investigate something more pressing.

The underground factory beneath Hammerlocke.

While researching historical sites, Cynthia had also traced the origin of the Dynamax disturbances.

Every lead pointed toward the subterranean facility established by Rose—the Chairman of the Macro Cosmos Group and the Galar League. A man known for his generosity and philanthropy.

And yet—

All signs led to him.

"...Ash," Cynthia asked as they neared the city, "when you stood in front of Coalossal… were you afraid?"

Ash blinked, then answered without hesitation.

"Why would I be? When I stand in front of Pokémon, I feel infinite courage. Right, Pikachu?"

"Pika!!"

Cynthia's gaze softened, something unreadable flickering within her eyes. Then she smiled.

"I hope you never lose that heart, Ash. When you stood there… even I thought you looked impressive."

Ash scratched his head, embarrassed.

Soon, Hammerlocke came into view.

At that very moment—

Two figures approached from the opposite direction at high speed.

Seconds later, they became clear.

Leon and Gary—riding Charizard and Skarmory.

They had arrived at nearly the same time.

Three champions now stood in one place—

Leon, Cynthia, and Ash.

And alongside them, a researcher whose strength rivaled theirs—

Gary Oak.

Four top-tier figures gathered at once.

Whatever awaited them…

was no ordinary crisis.

They landed, recalled their Pokémon, and stepped forward.

Ash looked at Gary, puzzled.

"Gary… why is Mr. Leon with you?"
