In the footage—
After Latias unleashed her hidden power, she plummeted from the sky due to exhaustion. Ash rushed over to check on her, but she regained consciousness moments later, a bright smile on her face as she circled him. She was simply happy that Ash was safe.
"Thanks, Latias! Let's go—we're going to rescue your brother!" "Huo~!" Ash charged into the Cathedral with Latias at his side. Inside, the air crackled with energy from the haywire machine.
Oakley sat in a daze while the two Pokémon stood guard. Hearing the commotion, Oakley turned and saw that Ash had actually reached them.
She tried to command Espeon to attack, but Ash struck first. Pikachu's Thunderbolt instantly paralyzed both Pokémon and the thief.
Ash sprinted to the corner, freeing Lorenzo and Kanone from their bindings. Meanwhile, Latias looked at her brother, trapped in the central glass sphere, with desperation.
She tried to fly to him but was violently repelled by a barrier. This was a protective field generated by the Soul Dew as it siphoned Latios's power.
Having been forcibly drained, Latios's energy was nearly dry. His body was covered in bruises from his struggle against the machine.
"Mr. Lorenzo! Why is this 'protection' device siphoning his life against his will?! It's supposed to guard the city!" Ash yelled.
"It's because of the evil intent used to activate it! We have to get him out—the machine is approaching a total meltdown!"
The device spun faster, white electrical arcs lashing out at the surroundings. Oakley finally realized she had crossed a line she couldn't come back from.
[Viewer Comments]: "Trash woman! Only now you realize you messed up?" "I declare these two the most loathsome villains yet—even worse than Giovanni!" In the original world, Giovanni had the charisma of a leader.
But in these rankings, his actions with Mewtwo made him notorious. Now, these phantom thieves were rivaling that hatred. They treated the siphoning of a soul and the destruction of a city as a "game."
In the footage—
Latios's face contorted in agony as the machine reached its peak. Latias kept throwing herself against the barrier, only to be knocked back repeatedly.
"Ash, save Latios! He's going to die!" Bianca cried out. Ash's eyes sharpened. He instinctively reached to turn his hat backward, but realized he wasn't wearing it. No matter!
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" The bolt struck the sphere but was instantly reflected! Ash and Pikachu barely dodged. "Dammit... then we do it the hard way!" Ash tensed his muscles and charged forward like a bullet. The audience gasped. Ash... what are you doing? Not that again...
"BANG!" The sound of flesh hitting reinforced machinery echoed through the Cathedral. Ash was literally trying to tackle the barrier down.
Even Oakley was stunned. Who uses their own body against a machine after a Thunderbolt fails? But then she remembered his "monster" constitution from earlier.
"BANG!" Pikachu and Latias joined him, slamming their bodies against the energy field. To everyone's shock, the energy surrounding the sphere actually flickered and weakened! It was working!
[Bruno: Every time I see this, I have to say it... Super Pallet-man is amazing!]
[Lance: Ash's attacks are having an effect! They'll save Latios in no time. This incident is as good as over!]
[Diantha: ...I'm not saying anything.]
[Lance: ...]
He had done it again. He couldn't help but make a prediction.
In the footage—
Under the repeated impacts, the device slowed. Latias let out a piercing cry, sheathed herself in a brilliant white light, and slammed into it with everything she had! CRACK—BOOM! The barrier shattered.
The rotating sphere ground to a halt as Latias wedged her own neck into the gears to stop it. Ash and the others dragged the limp Latios out. The machine finally went silent.
Latios breathed weakly, managing a small smile for his sister. He was battered, but alive. "Ash! Are you okay!" Misty and Brock arrived, having scaled the walls to bypass the locked gates. "I'm fine. We need to get Latios to a Pokémon Center right now!"
Oakley woke Annie up. "What happened?" "You went too far, Oakley. As punishment, I'm taking the Soul Dew for myself." "Fine..." Oakley grumbled.
[Cynthia: The nerve of these women! No remorse for nearly killing Ash or the Pokémon?]
[Lance: Justice will find them. But look! I wasn't a 'crow's beak' this time! Ash saved him, and the machine stopped!]
[Diantha: It's surprisingly pleasant when your bad luck fails, Lance.]
But the joy was short-lived...
In the footage—
While Ash checked on Latios, Annie climbed up to the Soul Dew. When she saw it, she recoiled. "Eww, what is this?! It's hideous!" The once pure, crystalline orb was now pitch-black. A thick, dark energy swirled within it. It was a reflection of the darkness in their hearts.
Lorenzo shouted, "Don't touch it!" Too late. Annie's fingertip brushed the surface. BOOM! A terrifying shockwave of black light exploded.
The defiled Soul Dew didn't just reject her; it shattered into pieces! The impact sent the sisters flying back into the cockpit, which slammed shut and began to spin even more violently than before.
In the Footage—
Red lightning-like energy lashed out. Protective bars encased the machine as it entered a final, uncontrollable "Self-Defense" mode.
Lorenzo's face went pale. "If it is used by the wicked... the defiled heart will pollute the Soul Dew. If the Soul Dew is lost... the island will be lost with it!"
"Why is it still running without Latios?" Ash asked desperately. "Latios guided the power. Now that the Dew has shattered, the remaining energy is flooding the machine all at once... this power will destroy the city!"
[Lance: ...]
He was speechless. Was he really cursed? The moment he said it was over, the treasure shattered.
[Leon: What kind of power could destroy the whole island? A natural disaster?]
[Cynthia: Look at the location—Alto Mare is surrounded by the sea. If the machine controls the water... it has to be a Tsunami!]
In the Footage—
The group ran to the Cathedral balcony. When they looked out, they gasped. "The sea... It's gone?" The canals were bone-dry. The water had retreated far beyond the horizon, like a massive tide pulling back. A sense of impending doom filled the air.
Latios and Latias looked at each other. They rose into the sky, circling the Cathedral roof once before hovering side-by-side.
As Legendaries, they sensed the catastrophe long before the humans. Latios winced in pain, his body flickering, but he forced himself to stand tall.
"Latios, you're hurt! We need to get you to safety!" Ash called out. Latios shook his head. There was no time for healing.
RUMBLE— The earth shook. A low roar began in the distance. Ash turned to see a wall of water, dozens of meters high, sweeping toward them with the force of a falling mountain. A Tsunami.
Faced with this inescapable disaster, the humans were helpless. But the Eon Pokémon shared a final look.
They charged forward like streaks of light—blue and red. To protect the city and their friends, they were going to stop the ocean itself.
