Autumn's hand tightened on the edge of the door, her body tense against mine. Tiffany and Lily stayed quiet on the bed behind us, holding their breath.
The situation had just become a lot more complicated.
"What's the matter, babe?" I asked casually, stepping right up behind Autumn and placing my hand on her wide hip like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Autumn tried to answer, her voice shaky. "Oh, nothing, Alex, it's just—"
But David cut her off immediately.
"Who the hell are you?" he demanded, staring at me with wide, shocked eyes.
David was a man in his mid-40s, with blonde hair and a large build. He was wearing a suit, like he had just returned from a trip.
I kept my tone relaxed and confident. "I don't know what you mean by that, buddy."
David ignored me and turned back to Autumn, his voice rising. "Autumn, who the hell is this guy? And when did you move on?"
