My legs gave out, and my butt hit the ground a moment later. It had been a close call, but the creature's attack had been interrupted. Before it could pounce on me, its body abruptly froze in pain from the divine light.
"Heal!"
Sacred magic enveloped the dark creature in a green aura, and I could see the sludge that made up its body dripping onto the stone floor.
I also felt warmth all around me, as though something were wrapping itself around me, trying to comfort me in the middle of that cold night. The pain in my legs finally subsided, and the monsters biting into my thighs dissolved into pools of thick, black liquid.
"Rick said the powers you have were given to you by Hel." I could hear the healer's footsteps approaching as she spoke. "It's no surprise that these monsters, born from borrowed power, are somehow weak against holy magic."
