Vikram opened the back door, his one hand on roof.
"And you are running out of patience." Vikram said.
" For you ?" Devika asked.
"For myself" he replied.
she looked at door, then him. And finally she get inside.
Vikram sit beside her.
Silence.
Vikram staring ahead. She crossed her arms and glare at him.
He loosened his tie.
She kicked the seat in front.
"You are childesh." He murmured.
"And you are unbearable." Devika said.
"That makes two of us." He replied. Looking into devika's eyes.
"Stop talking" she said, and start looking put of window.
"Please do." He said.
They sat there. Side by side. Fighting like kids who hadn't realized yet, that they were already on the same side.
They were on their way to home.
Then, suddenly.
Gunshots started. It wasn't that much loud like in movies. But it was violent.
Before Devika could even gasp, vikram grabbed her arm and pulled her down.
He shouted," RISHI".
Rishi was sitting on the opposite side of backseat, he wasn't even get surprised like his body had been trained all his life for this moment.
The car tire tore, and car screeched. Then rishi threw himself over devika carefully, and using his body to shield devika properly.
Devika didn't even realize when she screamed." What-sir-what". Her words were cracking. She was facing something like this first time in her life. She was trembling.
Bullets shattered the back window. Glass peices went over them like a sand.
Vikram jaw clenched, eyes burning with something inhuman. Not panic. Not fear. Something older. Something ruthless.
He kicked the car door and door opened. He stepped out like he was walking into a storm like he had seen thousand times.
"Stay down." He ordered. It was not request. It was command. Deep and powerful. The kind of voice that don't ask for obedience, it forced it.
Devika trembled. She was not even breathing properly. Her heart beat was moving faster.
Through the shattered window she saw them. Four black SUVs blocking road, many mens wearning fully black cloths. Guns raised. Shouting something. But devika mind was fully messed up that she don't even understand what they were saying.
And Vikram, he didn't crouch. He walked straight towards them. He pulled a gun from inside his coat, like it was a special part of him and then he fired.
The sound of it burned her ears. Not on shot. But many shots. Then, two men dropped instantly.
Devika froze.
Vikram didn't even look like a businessman, not at all. He looked something ruthless, something darker. Or more dangerous.
Rishi shoved her down again when she tired to lift her head.
"Don't look." He said, serious voice." Just keep your head down." Rishi knows everything about vikram. He knows how ruthless he can become. And devika will not be able to handle this much rage.
"What is happening?" She whispered, her voice still trembling
He didn't answer. Because the answer would destroy everything she thought she knew.
Then,
Another wave of bullets sound came.
Devika's breathing was uneven, her hands were shaking, nails digging into car seat. Every second went like a lifetime.
And then,
A bullet hit front side of car.
Devika covered her ears. Her vision blurred, tears falling down. Then she heard, Vikram shouted loudly," DON'T LET THEM NEAR HER!!"
That sentence hit her harder than any gunshot.
Near her.
Him fighting, killing and bleeding. Because of her.
Rishi's phone buzzed. He picked it up mid crouched. His spine tight like he is ready to strike.
"Abhinav." He said, serious voice."we are under attack. Highway exit. Send the lucifer team now."
Devika blinked. Abhinav?, lucifer team?. She didn't even know what those words meant. She only knew she wasn't in normal life anymore. She was in someone else world.
And that world was made of guns, blood and filled with rage.
Then,
Another man rushed towards Vikram. He shot once and man fell like his legs had vanished.
It was brutal. Efficient. Without any hesitation. Vikram was killing them. Like it is easy for him to finish them.
Somebody inside Devika broke. She stared at him like she had never seen him before.
Who is this man?
The rude, arrogent billionaire she thought she knew was gone. What stood there was a predator. A man who knew how to kill too well. A man people feared. A man people like to stay away.
One last man fired. Vikram also fired. But this time he missed shot.
Devika saw bullet before he did.
"SIRR!!" she screamed.
The bullet hit his arm. Blood started falling.
Devika's brained shut down for second. And he didn't fall. Didn't cry. He simply looked at his arm like the injury was a minor inconvenience.
But, she saw that his jaw clenched tight. And that scared her more.
It he was hurt. Things were bad. Very bad.
Then.
A new vehicle came. Doors open. A tall man in black suit jumped from car and without any hesitation.
BANG.
BANG.
BANG.
Three shots. Three dead. He moves like a ghost. Like every bullet he fired had already decided its target before even leaving the gun.
Devika stared, her eyes widen. He looked as terrifying as Vikram.
Abhinav Sharma
Vikram's bestfriend.
Within thirty seconds, silence fell over the road.
Vikram held his arm, blood leaking through his fingers. His breathing was slow but also ragged, his anger still burning in his eyes.
Rishi jumped out and rushed towards him. " Sir."
"I am fine." Vikram said, serious voice.
He wasn't even fine. But he refused to look weak. Because people like him could not afford to show pain.
Abhinav turned towards devika, expression unreadable." Get her out of the car" he said, cold voice.
She was shaking so badly, she couldn't even move.
Rishi went towards her and helped her.
Her knees get weekened when she stood and saw. Blood. Bodies. Bullets casing scattered like seeds of death.
She stared at Vikram.
