Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Don't sleep

39th floor.

The weather was nice with soft breeze and the sky was brilliant blue. I began walking leisurely along the plains. Tall mountains stood far in the horizon and soft clouds floated. The air was refreshing.

The grass tickled my feet like I could lie down and be part of nature forever.

Moving along the planes a herd of wolves with horns and a pouch in heir stomach appeared and quickly came to greet me. Their fur was strangely swirled like that of a sheep's. They came into a circle completely surrounding their prey.

"Hello"

A lone wolf lunged at me and a slight of fire incinerated it. The rest immediately tried to run away but met the same fate as they turned into chars.

My wooden hand ran along the earth and their charred remains. I lay there on top of the grass and looked up at the sky.

What should I do now? Sleep? I don't think I've slept since reincarnating.

You'd think I never had problem sleeping in my past life since I pretty much lost consciousness everyday. But on somedays I'd rather fall asleep before the fever and just be a pathetic scared girl. Sleep was foreign but too familiar at the same time. I slept throughout most of my life but it was never voluntary and it became more apparent every time my heart raced at the creep of fever instead of slowing down.

But then I realised there was no use for such a pathetic existence. If I was going to die, I'd rather face it without fear like the fearless people in fiction and history.

In other reincarnation stories, when a sick kid reincarnates, they live like a blaze, don't they? Instead of having nothing to show but the negative mental health and relationship skills, they have all those cool things like being fearless and persistence. The drive to live life fully. But it seems like all the fever ate away at my desire to live.

I don't want to move.

No, no, the Yun I saw in that dream, she was like them all. I was like that once too, the fever never ate away everything. I just forgot.

Here I go with hopelessness again, I almost lay here in my waste for who knows how long.

I need to move not sleep.

How do I make mental attack usable without constant tracking? Can mental attack be used on the system? How can I make it so that the system can't use my consciousness power without consent?

Clouds moved along the sky...

A sigh escaped from the lodge of wood my body was like it was the last trace of coldness.

I blinked at the brilliant blue.

But wait, there was something in the sky.

It was round and white almost like an alien ship.

An ominous feeling sprung in my gut.

I jumped up and accelerated to a nearby mountain. Suddenly the light in the surrounding dulled down a weird sound of a heartbeat thumped in the air. On the ground a huge seismic wave like light bands began to travel outward from right beneath the ship, where I had been.

Arriving at the mountain I watched the blank space without anything visible but the seismic bands. It looked as if night and day existed at the same time.

The seismic bands suddenly stopped for an instant and then rebound back. They all converged at the center and it became pitch black.

It was very quiet. Whatever that thing was... the stillness it brought was terrifying.

A massive pillar of light drew a thick line between the alien ship and the earth.

There was no sound or wind. It thinned and then disappeared just as quickly as it came and the light in the area returned as if nothing had happened. Only the ground the light struck had completely been obliterated. A large spherical whole in the ground spanning to a depth not seeable.

The space ship moved away.

I y took off and appeared at the place where the pillar of light touched. The ground was cleanly cut off in a circle with 100 meters of diameter.

The ground bellow wasn't visible.

A tingling feeling scorched my outer wood. It was burning though there was no fire.

However, suddenly my skin began to char. I looked around for anything that might've assailed, but realized all surrounding grass and bushes had been burnt away without my notice.

But there was no consciousness.

My body crumbled apart.

A long time ago, the system had told me that there were many mysterious powers with unexplainable origins.

I lost consciousness.

The luminoscous rocks and the grey rocky earth greeted me. I was a spore again.

What that was, I'll probably find out eventually.

I waited for my mana to replenish and then came out.

When the mist disappeared and the same brilliant blue sky greeted me, the breeze hit.
