Salem is just a football field away from his school and he continues walking, keeping his eyes on the sidewalk. Not wanting to step away from it because of the street.
Wonder: 'I have called for help… Why are you still distressed?'
Salem brings his voice down as he gets closer to the school, to not make anyone think that he's a freak.
Salem: "I should have tried and stopped her from going into the school. She said she'd eat my brother for god's sake."
Salem gets closer and his eyes begin to water, afraid of what his brother is gonna go through, both with either having no friends and because Salem might be the one to take away his only friend that he's had.
Wonder ignore him without giving him an understanding.
Wonder: 'Salem. You will have to get a statue or an effigy of some sorts. That's the only way for you to get help of the myth.'
Salem gets closer to the school but his eyes still stuck to the ground.
Salem: "What type of effigy?"
Wonder: 'An effigy is…? Oh you know what it is?'
Salem: "Yes… I'm one of the smartest people in the school, I'd know something like that."
Wonder: 'It should be something that is…'
Unknowingly to Salem he makes it to the schools front entrance and he feels a slap on his back.
It's small. Well it's small compared to his and it feels weak willed but still with some strength behind it.
Salem turns to see who it is.
His heart skips a beat when he sees a girl in great round glasses, Amelia.
Amelia looks into his eyes. She sees the slight tears coming out of his eyes.
Amelia gives Salem a look.
Amelia: "Did another person die?"
Salem: 'That's so straight forward?!'
Wonder: 'I full heartedly agree.'
Salem and Wonder would nod in agreement if they could, but Salem just looks at Amelia, then wipes his face to get the tears away.
Salem: "No I just was feeling a little under the weather."
Amelia nod and smiles.
Amelia: "Anyway Salem… can we finally get that photo that I wanted?"
Salem tilts his head.
Salem: "We never got it?"
Then straightens up.
Amelia follows his head tilt, then straightens up just the same.
Amelia: "No, this time I left without even asking for it. You have a habit of making a situation that would make it weird for me to follow."
Amelia steps in front of him and opens the door before Salem steps in.
Salem: "Thank you."
Amelia: "Your welcome."
She follows right along with him.
Salem: "I'll give you the photo today. And I don't think we'll need to go to the Pool area today. We could just go anywhere that's better."
Amelia smiles.
Amelia: "Ookay then I guess we could…"
Two people approached Amelia.
Warren and Kai. Kai's has clothes on that looks likes he's going for a Y2K look. His jeans grey with cuffs that's wide and a grey jacket with patches on it. He also has withe tips, at the end of his hair now.
Warren seems to be wearing one of his fathers military uniform to the school.
Warren: "Amelia. I'm looking..."
Warrens calm voice is interrupted.
Kai: "We are looking..."
Kai lets out a sarcastic response as he stops Warren's sentence.
Warren shakes his head slightly. Looking unamused by Kai's horrible joke.
Warren: "We are looking for Salem. Have you seen him?"
Amelia turns her head to face Salem.
Amelia: "Right here."
She points to Salem, her voice sounding confused as to why they didn't know.
She looks back to the two boys again.
Kai: "No. Salem...? You know small guy... Don't get offended by this man."
He holds his hands out to Salem before he finishes his sentence.
Kai: "Small, black guy. You know that smart, lonely guy?"
Warren: "Yeah... He says it kinda mean but that guy."
Salem: 'He did say that kinda mean.'
Amelia: "This is Salem... I don't know any other Salem."
Kai tilts his head, and Warren just looks at Salem as if he's a wonder of the world, which he kinda is.
Kai: "Dude, you really Salem?"
Salem nods.
Salem: "I don't know any other Salem besides myself."
Warren: "You... gained a lot more muscle?"
Kai: "He's using steroids."
Salem: 'Again with the ROIDS?!'
Salem: "No I didn't use drugs. I did a lot of sit ups and push ups."
Warren looks at him dumbfounded and Kai smiles.
Kai: "Dude he has a better physique than you and he just does push ups and sit ups... You're falling behind me."
Kai slaps Warren's shoulder and laughs hard, many people stare at him in the hallway entrance.
Warren looks at Kai, gives a fake laugh to show his joke was bad, then he turns back to Salem.
Warren: "Anyway the office is calling you. Not really sure what they called you for, but regardless you should go."
Warren walks away from them, Kai follows closely behind as he continues to laugh.
Warren: "The joke wasn't even funny."
Kai says something back, but is to far for either of the two to hear.
Salem along with Amelia walk to through the hallways of the school, both with bags slinked over their shoulders, as they get closer and closer to the office.
Many of the students talk about many things, but with the two in a hallway full of people the words are all jumbled together for Salem and Amelia as they both walk, a little awkwardly together to the office.
Once at the doors. A single oak door, Salem grabs the knob and pulls it open, both Amelia and Salem try to enter at the same time, then they pull out at the same time.
Salem & Amelia: "You can go."
Salem waves his hands in front of himself.
Salem: "No you first. I'll go after."
Amelia looks at his distraught face and lets out a small childish giggle as she tries to hide her face from Salem.
Salem's heart skips a beat as he sees himself in her glasses then her face as it she let's out the giggle.
Wonder: 'Your heart skipped a beat.'
Salem: 'I know!'
Salem clears his throat.
Salem: "I'll let you go in first."
Amelia stops laughing then begins to walk inside the office, her hand away from her face now, Salem follows behind her.
An old lady that has her hair still jet black, black eyes and a smile that shows that she smokes a lot.
The old lady sits behind a desk, as she looks at a laptop. Another door behind her that says: Principals Office.
Old Lady: "What are you two here for?"
He looks at Amelia then back to the Old lady.
Salem: "The principal called me?"
Salem answers her with respect in his voice.
Old Lady: "He's in the office room now, just knock then enter."
She snaps her head at Amelia.
Old Lady: "What about you?"
Amelia looks surprised at the question and the quick turn of the lady's head. She looks at Salem nervously, then back to The Old Lady.
Amelia: "Du.. I… I'm with him."
The lady snaps her head at Salem and he nods quickly, obviously just as surprised at how fast she snaps her head and not pop her neck.
Old Lady: "Okay. Both of you go in, but don't give the principal a hassle. That makes my job harder for me."
Both of the nod as they go around the desk of the lady and head to open the door labeled: Principals Office, to find the principal just sitting on his desk, that's just a big rectangular shape.
He looks at the door as they both enter the room.
Three seats are in front of him. He smiles and has his arms holding up his head.
His hair black, clothes that he's wearing is a suit and a tie, to be professional in this school. He has on glasses, that match his table, rectangular.
Salem: "Mr. Denver? Warren and Kai said you called?"
Denver: "You're Salem?"
Salem sighs.
Salem: "Yes…"
Denver looks him up then down.
Denver: "You're not doing dru…"
Salem: "No!"
Salem clears his throat.
Salem: "Sorry didn't mean to burst like that…"
Denver: No I could probably guess with a change this quickly many people would assume that you were using substances."
Amelia: "Yeah he's had a lot of that."
Denver tilts his head and looks at Amelia.
Denver: "Why are you here?"
Amelia: "Um… Salem battle buddy?"
Salem nods as Denver looks at him.
Denver: "Okay both you sit down."
As Salem and Amelia both sit down. Salem left, Amelia right, they leave the middle seat open.
Both of the unsling their bags from their backs and put it beside the chairs that their sitting on.
Denver pulls out a piece of paper from a drawer behind his desk and points it at Salem.
Denver: "Do you know anything about this door."
The door being the same door Salem pulled off the hinges of the building when he was in a rush to get outside.
Salem goes wide eyed and coughed heavily as he looked down.
Amelia rushes to his side.
Amelia: "Are you okay..?"
She looks down and sees his face.
Amelia: "You broke the door didn't you?"
Her voice low so only Salem could hear.
Salem nods.
Amelia groans.
Amelia: "Why?"
Salem shrugs his shoulders.
Denver: "You guys realize it's only us in here? I can hear you…"
Salem and Amelia look up.
Amelia & Salem: "Really?!"
Denver: "Nah. Just messing with you. But if you don't know anything you can leave."
Both Amelia and Salem immediately grab their bags, put it on theirs shoulders and walk out the door.
They close the door quickly. Leaving Denver in the room alone.
Denver: "Yeah… Okay bye as well."
Salem and Amelia waves to the old lady as they exit the other door.
Amelia: "Why break the door?"
Salem: "I was in a rush… I didn't see the sign… cut to door off hinges."
Amelia: "No don't cut. Tell me."
Salem: "Was in a rush. I grab the door… cut to door off hinges."
Amelia looks at him baffled.
Amelia: "Oh Nevermind."
She sighs.
Amelia: "We'll take the picture after school. This time for real?"
Wonder: 'We have to get an effigy.'
Salem looks stunned between the two decisions.
Salem: "Amelia…?"
He looks slightly scared to ask this question and his hearts beating rapidly as he does so.
Amelia: "Yes…?"
Salem: "D… Do you want to follow me to look for an effigy?"
Amelia looks at him like a child that doesn't know words.
Amelia: "Is this a weird date idea?"
Salem voice goes low and embarrassed.
Salem: "No… not a date.. I just thought that it'd be better if you came with me so that way I could get two birds with one stone and take care of the fact that you wanted to…"
Amelia: "Okay… your too flushed to even finish a sentence well."
She's right his face is really red right now.
Amelia: "Where did you plan to go to look for a statue?"
Salem: "The mall…"
Amelia: "So this is a date?"
She smiles and laughs.
Salem: "I didn't mean to make it sound like that… but I do have to get this and I was thinking it'd be easier if I take care of two birds with one stone."
The bell rings and the students disperse into a classroom.
Amelia: "Okay we'll meet after school at the place we first met at…"
Salem: "The bleachers?"
Amelia begins to walk away.
Amelia: "Yeah."
She disappears after turning a corner and Salem heart skips a beat again.
Wonder: 'Do you really plan to invite her?'
Salem walk away and head over to his respective class.
Salem walk past many different students as he does so.
Salem: 'I already did so… can't just tell her, sorry you can't come now.'
Salem stops in front of a door that has students filing in, then enters after them.
Wonder: 'Okay then. If you say so.'
Salem sits down in his class and some where deep down he's kinda excited to go to the mall with her today.
After about five hours of classes, then lunch, then back for another class. The school day ends and Salem goes to the bleachers.
Salem stands at the bleachers as he waits for Amelia.
Kneeling down as he reaches into his bag. He finds, at the bottom, his keys to his house, and a wallet that's plain and has his card, along with his Guam Identification card.
He picks up the wallet from the bottom of his bag and puts it into his side pocket and under the bleachers deep into the darkness to hide it he stashes his bag, hoping that no one finds his bag.
He stands back up and wipes his knees.
Seeing the big round glasses in the distance.
Amelia comes running out of the only door to the field. Salem waves to her and Amelia waves back.
Salem meets her halfway.
Salem: "Hey…"
Amelia: "Hi…"
She looks at his back.
Amelia: "Where's your bag?"
Salem points under the bleachers.
Salem: "I hid it under the bleachers in the dark areas."
Amelia: "Oh that's smart. Let me do that."
Amelia goes to the same spot as Salem puts her bag under there and gets back up.
Amelia: "Wait why are we doing that?"
She turns to look at Salem.
Salem: "I was thinking we could fly to the mall…?"
Amelia: "FLY?!"
Salem: "Don't need to yell, but yeah I think I can do that."
Wonder: 'You can.'
Salem: "Okay I can do that… How?"
Amelia: "Are you asking me how?"
Amelia looks at him like he's stupid.
Salem: "No sorry."
Wonder: 'Think of her like she's one of you clothes if not you may end up burning her.'
Salem: "Okay… let's try it."
With a deep breath Salem inhales a lot of air, then with a quick sigh there's smoke that blows out, then fire and his body turns completely into flames.
Salem takes a few more breaths then he looks at Amelia. His eyes look the same color as his body, an orange yellow hue of flames.
Salem: "I think I could grab you now."
Amelia: "You sure it's safe?"
Salem: "Only one way to find out. Take my hand."
He holds out his hand stretching out his arm to Amelia.
