The cool night breeze brushes against my skin as Dawnstar glides through the sky, and for a while… I forget everything that's been weighing heavy on my heart.
If I let myself, I think I might have fallen asleep right there on her back, carried by the wind and the steady rhythm of her wings.
If I could, I would stay up here in the skies forever.
But eventually…
Good things always come to an end.
Agnarath begins descending first, angling toward a mountain peak in the distance. Dawnstar follows without me even asking, slowly beating her wings as the ground rises to meet us.
My heart starts to race again as we get closer.
Not from fear this time.
Just the realization that it's over.
Agnarath lands first with a low, rolling thud that sends loose stones skittering across the mountain top. Dawnstar touches down a moment later, her landing far gentler. Her wings beat twice before folding at her sides.
"El Herænaz," I say.
The command comes naturally.
