Gianna clicked her teeth in cold confirmation. Hearing Mason's name uttered so casually by Clement added more verification to what they already knew.
Zane leaned forward over Gianna's shoulder, his deep voice slicing through the air like a blade. "We already know the mid-tier players, Clement. Who is the head of the Club?"
Clement looked up at Zane, terror swimming in his eyes. "I... I don't know!"
Gianna's eyes narrowed. "Is it Isaac Beckett?" she demanded, mildly befuddled by his answer.
Clement shook his head frantically, leaning as far away from the knife as his body would allow. "No! I swear to God, I don't know! Isaac is high up—he's on the Inner Council, he directs the strategy—but even Isaac takes directives from the shadow chief! The true head of the Club never appears in public! Their identity is kept under total dark encryption! Only the top three council members have ever seen the chief's face!"
